Lbp2 Level feedback?

Archive: 3 posts

Hi all,

I wanted to make a nice level and spend quite some time to create it.

http://lbp.me/v/h4zj9m

But it didn't seem to be popular at all
Could someone give me feedback on how I should improve? It was meant to be a challenging but funny level.

PS: sorry if it's not the right place to ask it.

Thanks,
Fawix

This would go in the Level Showcase part of the forum.
I can instantly see why your level isn't attracting much interest -

Your Title is a bit dull, there's no description, no uploaded photos and your Level Badge is dull and doesn't tell anyone anything.
You've got to put work into those 4 things because those are the first things people see when they find your level, and the last thing they see if you fail to intrigue them.
Titles should be fun and interesting. "Avalons Amazing Flying Thingymabob" or "Avalons Interstellar Tomato Catapult" or whatever else. 'Thing' is dull and kind of implies a lack of interest even on your part.
Your Description needs to talk about what the level involves doing.
Is there a story? - Talk about the intro.
What is the main theme of the obstacles/task? - Talk about that.
Is there anything players should know about player-counts or other info? - Mention that.
I get the impression you've used 'Thing' as a means of avoiding ruining what the 'Thing' happens to be. I wouldn't recommend this - If it's a story-spoiler, then don't make it the focus of the level title and description, talk about other events in the level.
If the 'Thing' is something important that players spend the entire game driving/collecting/chasing/fleeing/whatever, then just tell people what it is.
Upload some photos of your level. Enter the level, take photos either with the Popit or the Screenshot Option, then find those photos in your Popit, hit Square, then select 'Upload'. They will then appear in the level info and on LBP.me for all to see. Use those photos when creating a LBPC Level Showcase thread to pretty up your presentation.
Your Level Badge needs to be something cool and custom made. Generic Sackperson close-ups are never the way to go, ever.
Spend some time creating a custom photo to use as a badge. It doesn't need to have the level name written in it, but it does need to be intriguing. Spend some time looking at the Badges of some MM Picks and stuff, see how the badges are relevent to the names and themes of their respective levels?

Now, I think the OP is talking about level feedback more than presentation, but you need good presentation before you'll get the plays.
People often gauge the amount of effort they believe went into the level by the way it is shown on LBP.me or in-game level selection.

Well sorry to say, but your first thread here is how to get feedback rather than an intro thread followed by a thread in the Level Showcase. No worries, but you sorta stumbled in backwards.

In the intro forum you would have gotten some advice to make a Level Thread for your level where the entire point of that topic is YOUR LEVEL and getting feedback for it. We also have the F4F (feedback for feedback) system here which if done proactively can get you a ton of great feedback such as my good friend Ostler has provided already. By proactive I mean make your level thread an F4F one and go and play a ton of other F4F levels leaving detailed constructive feedback. Then after that, tell them which of your level threads to explore to honor their F4F commitment. By doing that bunches, you can get an amazing amount of feedback.

However as this thread has been answered as well as outside the topic for the forum, (i.e. listing a level and asking for feedback as well as how to get feedback), I shall lock this thread.

However feel free to ask me directly any questions on how to create a level thread, but really... go and make a intro thread so we can welcome you in the front door!!

Best of luck!

Locking!
