Create mode Shifting

Archive: 5 posts

I usually make my levels so that they are suspended in the air, using dark matter, but a lot of times when I save and come out of create mode, when I come back, my level has shifted slightly so that the grid no longer lines up. I give the structures ample support, but if I try to object capture, or move it back on my own, a lot of times things just break for no reason. I ended up having to delete my latest level I was working on due to this, because I couldn't fix it, and i was too far in the level to just remake it. Thats time I wont get back.2013-03-14 18:22:00

Are you glueing your objects together and to the dark matter? If I'm honest though, don't use dark matter at all to support your level. Stick to Anti-Gravity Tweakers with 100% Dampening : ) You can just whack one on anything and it will act like Dark Matter!2013-03-14 18:55:00

I had a little trouble with the same thing in LBP1, but in LBP2 I use anti grav tweakers and it hasn't been a problem.
As Hallm3 said, it's better to use tweakers than dark matter. It seems to take less thermo space and reduce lag. Also, you'll save thermo and have better performance if you don't glue too many things together.

those are both really good tips, I didn't think to do that. but i'm having trouble with my grids too, and i think that may be the whole problem now. after starting work on my level again, I usually use the small grid to make my pathways and then use thin layers to make it look like its thicker in places, but for some reason when i opened it today, the grid has shifted, the level is sitting on the ground, and the parts that were perfectly gridded are now sitting a little over half in the small grid box. this will be the third time ive had to delete and restart this level2013-03-15 18:35:00

Hmmmmm, it's strange that you're having this problem. My level is positioned by grid. I have both dark matter, and anti-grav'd carboard positioned by grid and have never had an issue with the material drifting off grid.

One thing to note is that none of my pieces are glued (except sticker material, which has no weight). Maybe a glued piece of material is dragging the level down?

Like I say, it's strange that it keeps happening to you, but my level is fine. Believe me, if my level shifted off grid it would mess everything up COMPLETELY.
