Assassin's Creed 2 - November 17th!

Which probably means August, knowing Ubisoft. I really enjoyed the first, despite it's repetitiveness. I heard that the second AC is in modern times and that there will be a third set in the close future but I can't confirm that. No details have been given so far. i liked AC so much because of the theme, they change the theme they change the fun | 2009-01-23 07:12:00 Author: Thee-Flash Posts: 3154 |
As long as they take out those lepers and the women begging to be stabbed (sorry, for coins) then I'm quite happy no matter what time period it's in. | 2009-01-23 07:37:00 Author: flakmagnet Posts: 1084 |
AC2 Will take place in a Near-Future type scenario, Same time period as we see Desmon in when he's out of the Animus. | 2009-01-23 08:33:00 Author: Morrinn3 Posts: 493 |
I loved the first AC. The first 4-5 hours were magical and unlike any other videogame I had previously played. After that things got a little repetitive but I still enjoyed it. Needless to say, I am really looking forward to this sequel. | 2009-01-23 09:13:00 Author: OCK Posts: 1536 |

Did i say there were good ...? Nope i don't recall saying that Back on topic, What would you be doing taking out drug dealers, terrorists, the good thing with the oldern time setting is that they had the chance for unique missions. although is you studied ac enough you would know that you would be stopping that company that hold altair in his real life form | 2009-01-23 15:35:00 Author: Thee-Flash Posts: 3154 |
I want it to be set in the 1800's! I think they will change the era, otherwise it would be too much like the first. If you want the era too stay the same you might aswell keep playing the first one. | 2009-01-23 15:56:00 Author: Leather-Monkey Posts: 2266 |

Troble with climbing the Empire State building is there's very little chance of a bunch of straw being near the base to jump in to. | 2009-01-23 16:40:00 Author: Rabid-Coot Posts: 6728 |

Huge amount of info was released in the recent PSM magazine, unfortunately i do not have a scanner but there's swimming, dragging ppl under water, one mission using Davinci's flying machine and the assassins name is Ezio, there as lots more info but i cannot remember it sorry. | 2009-05-19 10:11:00 Author: Boomy Posts: 3701 |
Holy crap that sounds sweet boomy. The flying machine would make me think it's still back in the day......I played the first one (not a ton) But it deff did get repetetive, it was still fun though | 2009-05-20 22:48:00 Author: Hamsalad Posts: 2551 |
Yea, Ezio is italian btw | 2009-05-20 22:50:00 Author: oldage Posts: 2824 |
I am definitely getting this game when it comes out. Shame it's not in 2009, but, who cares, that makes it all the more suspenseful! | 2009-05-20 23:06:00 Author: Night Angel Posts: 1214 |
No more pick-pocketing or eavesdropping, there's a larger variety of mission types so it wont get repetitive. You can throw dirt into peoples faces, grab other peoples weapons such as maces, axes, halberds, you get double hidden blades instead of one. Ezio is more nimble that Altair was, he can jump straight up while climbing a wall. You can blend in with crowds not just scholars. Outside of the main cities there are individual villages which help make it feel like a real place. You will also be seeing real italian monuments in the game. There's alot more enemy types this time, some could be even better at climbing that Ezio himself. :o This is all of the top of my head as I re-read the magazine yesterday but this will all be in the game. Unless they make drastic changes. :O | 2009-05-21 08:28:00 Author: Boomy Posts: 3701 |
If this is going to be as BAD as the first one they might as well not bother.. The gameplay is SO REPETITIVE. It's the only reason i gave it up. Theres also no achievements like XLive has... | 2009-05-21 10:59:00 Author: CreateNPlay Posts: 1266 |

If this is going to be as BAD as the first one they might as well not bother.. The gameplay is SO REPETITIVE. It's the only reason i gave it up. Theres also no achievements like XLive has... I'm not sure if you even read what Boomy said or not but it sounds like they are going to be shaking it up quite abit and adding more so I doubt it. And if you didnt think the first game was even for a while at least that's pretty strange. Becasue I'm sure everyone can agree it was loads of fun for a while but did deffintiely get very repetitive. but never-the-less the potential and fun was still there; and they are improving it. So you can call me excited for this. I still can't wait for prototype | 2009-05-21 17:45:00 Author: Hamsalad Posts: 2551 |
I hope it's harder than the first one, once you got the counter abilities you could easily take on everyone in the game all at once. | 2009-05-22 01:31:00 Author: DeathJohnson Posts: 57 |
Aw man, I was hoping it would come out 3Q or 4Q of this year, 2010 is a long time to wait. Ah well, I can't wait for this game! | 2009-05-22 01:44:00 Author: brnxblze Posts: 1318 |
I hope it's harder than the first one, once you got the counter abilities you could easily take on everyone in the game all at once. I know what you mean, with the fighting system if you got it down pat I would feel like I was cheating because how easy it was. | 2009-05-22 17:40:00 Author: Hamsalad Posts: 2551 |
Renaissance Italy eh? From what I've read lately this looks phenomenal, and will be out around Christmas. See if you guys can find a scan or trailers, the magazine PLAY seems to have the best info. I was psyched when I saw the trailer with all the Da Vinci drawings. I love that they're doing these settings that are so rarely... if EVER... seen in videogames. I mean, aside from Assassin's Creed, what was the last CRUSADES game you played? And the last game that took place in Renaissance Italy?? This is awesome. At the end of Creed 1, there was a hint that the sequel MAYBE would take place in Feudal Japan, and maybe you'd play as a ninja - which is pretty **** cool too, but that's something we've played before. Renaissance Italy, i can't freaking wait. | 2009-06-01 21:16:00 Author: Teebonesy Posts: 1937 |

Anyone else find it ironic that the ending to the live teaser showed Altair diving into a pool of water followed by a fade to black? The ability to swim alone actually makes this game worth a rent... | 2009-06-03 21:48:00 Author: Aurongel Posts: 221 |
Looks great Though the flying machine is meh. The double kill was amazing though. | 2009-06-03 21:50:00 Author: ryryryan Posts: 3767 |
Anyone else find it ironic that the ending to the live teaser showed Altair diving into a pool of water followed by a fade to black? The ability to swim alone actually makes this game worth a rent... Ahem! It's Ezio, not Altair! Dude, this game is definitely a buy for me! So many improvements, and, from the looks of it, a real time...time system thing...It looks awesome! I can't wait to get my hands on that flying machine! And chat with my good pal, Da Vinci. Also, the notoreity system and the little mini missions you have to do to decrease notoriety are really cool, and it looks like they really listened to the fans. | 2009-06-04 01:49:00 Author: qrtda235566 Posts: 3664 |
Yes there is blood. You will see it depending how violently you play. It might not be implemented everywhere yet either (like in those finishes on the guards). Basically, killing in high profile will look more gory than low profile. . | 2009-06-04 03:08:00 Author: RangerZero Posts: 3901 |

I have pre-ordered the black edition of the game here in Australia. I look forward to this game, though I never completely finished the first game. I'd go back to it... if I had more time. | 2009-09-11 08:44:00 Author: Elbee23 Posts: 1280 |
I'll buy the regular one. I have to finish the first one, too, but I think I'll download a good guide and follow it. Unfortunately I have very few spare time to play, so either I must rush the game to its finish or I have to find a guide to not lose a lot of time and know exactly what I have to do. | 2009-09-11 09:49:00 Author: OmegaSlayer Posts: 5112 |
I loved the setting of AC and i loved how it incorporated Sci-fi and Medevil at the same time. Was really neat.... Only thing is... it's not very.... open? Yeah you can run around the whole city... but how you kill the target is always the same.... You kill him, guards are aware and they all go chasing you and you start running. Although it's fun... it sometimes gets repetitive.... I liked how Hitmam series gave the player a number of ways for killing his target, either it being poisoning his drink, getting someone else to distract him while you kill him with a silencer, snipe him down, plant a bomb in his room, or just get a swan off shot gun and blow his brains out. I also HATED how AC delivered it's story.... all you did was stand around and listen to the man talk.... no cut-scenes no interaction with the characters... you can't even see the people's faces because they always talk like a mile away from you..... I'm still gonna buy AC2 though... | 2009-09-11 12:58:00 Author: snowyjoe Posts: 509 |

Is this game still set for 2010? I thought it was coming out in fall. Gamespot usually have the release dates updated: http://www.gamespot.com/ps3/action/assassinscreed2/index.html I never finished the first one either, got kinda boring. Can a mod please change the title? This is completely misleading. This game is slated for AND WILL be out November 17 of 2009. . | 2009-09-12 05:14:00 Author: RangerZero Posts: 3901 |
Sorry about my thread title guys. When it was originally announced it was slated for March 2010 (http://playstation.joystiq.com/2009/01/22/assassins-creed-2-officially-confirmed-with-us-by-march-2010/), but I forgot to update it with the newer release date. Anyway, updated now. | 2009-09-12 14:49:00 Author: Killian Posts: 2575 |

Just got Playstation official magazine, had an official review, 9/10. Has some awesome pictures and the review is awesome. Cannot wait Sorry for bumping an old topic, but this seems to be the official topic, assassins creed 2 isn't getting enough discussion on these forums | 2009-11-09 13:19:00 Author: Boomy Posts: 3701 |
Just to feed discussion... -Fight revamped, multiple types of ennemis, lot more weapon -Grab system, disarm and counter isn't always easy because each type of ennemi must be beaten with different strategies -Economic system - upgrade Ezio with armor, weapons, items, dye your clothes -Character progression is much more present and evident -No more investigation, it's entirely story-based with "mission givers" character just like GTA4 -Full of extra stuff do to that actually matter for something. (gathering money, upgrading your villa, collecting lore, etc) -Villa upgrade (kinda a fable gameplay here) -Catacomb levels (optional areas where it's more Prince of Persia style platforming). They give you a very nice bonus too -Better faster climb -More crowd reactions/behaviors -Smoke bombs -All the types of missions you see in GTA type games (chase, follow, fetch, assassinate, collect, race, etc) -Blend is completely revamped -You can hire different kind of friendly NPC to help you like Mercenaries, Courtesans and Thieves and you command them stuff to do. -You can swim -Cities are not similar like the first game -Country side IS useful and there's even missions in it. Seriously, there's alot of new stuff. It really is what the game ever should have been. . | 2009-11-11 00:03:00 Author: RangerZero Posts: 3901 |
Seriously, there's alot of new stuff. It really is what the game ever should have been. . Yup! I played the first about 2 weeks ago for the first time - it's bene on the shelf for nearly a year. I felt it was so promising but had so many flaws as well. I started reading up about the sequel and it sounds awesome. Thanks for gathering all that together here though. I did read somewhere that you supposedly have more to do with desmond than before, my guess was due to skills bleeding in the animus but I don't really know. Also, guns. Which seems a little wrong, but who am I to judge Edit - to clarify, release date for the UK is Friday 20th. I'm going away on the 23rd, so guess who isn't having a productive weekend | 2009-11-11 00:07:00 Author: rtm223 Posts: 6497 |
Also, gun. Which seems a little wrong, but who am I to judge fixed that for ya Actually, the gun is an hidden blade upgrade but how it works and when you get it is all planned that it doesn't destroy the gameplay. We obviously didn't want this game to be a shooter It's a very nice upgrade nonetheless. . | 2009-11-11 02:41:00 Author: RangerZero Posts: 3901 |
