Excellent level pickled-punk. I really like your style. There were some fresh game play ideas and everything was executed well. Great job. 2013-03-12 12:43:00

played through it two player

guy said it was boring, i enjoyed it though.

at the race he got stuck in the pipe and the end and refused to kill himself, claiming he should have won, and quit the game. didnt notice any bugs apart from that, but it might be because he was a noob.

nice platformer with a much easier to swallow visual style than some of the more artistic types here

played it last night. very fun level with a style all it's own...which I loved! Neat design and good solid gameplay. Excellent work on this. I like the added touch of finding the curators, that was cool.

Based on the pictures, I have to say that this level looks brilliant. It seems to mix the cardboard theme of the game to an outlandish, cartoony style, and while I can not say that it's a first time anyone has does this, it certainly seems enjoyable. I'll review this soon, but in advance, I'd like to warn you that my post will likely be overall negative, even though I will address the good things here. Why? Because constructive criticism is the only thing to help the creator and his creations progress. So be wary of that. I'll be absolutely fair, even though I am a big fan of your work. To add, based on your earlier work, I can tell that your level has your trademark-style of feeling both: well planned in advance entirely, while it still seems as if you do it as you go along.

EDIT: The Review:

First thing I noticed from the level was the lack of music at the beginning. When it is, in some occasions mood-creating or in someway else benefiting to make music launch later in the level, here it felt forced and actually annoyed me, considering that it takes a while for the level to get to that point. With this I mean the moment you talk to the sackbot in the beginning. I read the whole text, and while it wasn't long, there was no excuse to start the music before, or at least at that point. Also, LBP censored some of the sackbot's words ("chitter-*******").

And while on the subject of music, it is brilliant. I love half the music from all Final Fantasy games and luckily that track was among them. However, I feel that it should've played a little longer, since the level itself is not very long. The second track was a bit annoying, but that's just my opinion and I also didn't like the way you changed to MM-track at the end. It would've been better if Vivi's theme played until the race, when it would change to the second soundtrack, which I don't recognize, by the way.

The visuals... In the beginning, way back in LBP1 and early LBP2 I always found the visuals in your levels lacking. However, I am proud to say that you've come a long way since. This level looks absolutely beautiful, as I could already tell from the screenshots. It combines best of two worlds, the cartoon-y style and the cardboard perfectly together. It even makes use of some of the most useless stickers in the entire game's history. While it isn't really artsy, it works perfectly for the level and helps power up the atmosphere.

Gameplay here seems to have taken a bit more platform-y turn from your earlier levels. It's pretty basic and simple and it works. As I said before, you have added something I personally love to this level, which was the music from FF9, but you have also made something that I hate: roof-climbing-sponge-obstacle. I hate, hate, hate, HATE that. It is the most lazy way of creating any challenge to any level ever. You already have attract-o-tweakered wall-walking here. Why not add that instead? It just comes of as lazy and dull. As for the rest of the gameplay, there isn't much else to mention. It's pretty simple, even though the race at the end seemed to be there just so you could have a race at the end. It didn't really fit. Also, I saw nothing really innovative (I love that word) or unique as far as the gameplay was concerned. While I did enjoy playing the level, the gampleay is the weakest link here.

For other nagging, there was a part near the beginning where the camera zoom was waaaay too far from the action. We don't need to see the entire sequence of the level at the same time to see that it looks great. Also the logo looked lazy. It was just the face of Awesome-Ginger. Nothing good there, but it really doesn't take any points from the level. Also, I don't think there was any story, since nothing in what the sackbot said captured my interest so I would still remember it.

In conclusion, this is among your best levels yet, though it's not the best. However, for a level to make a lasting impact today, it needs more than enjoyable gameplay.

Gameplay: 6/10
Visuals: 9/10
Audio: 7/10
Story: -/-
Conclusion: 7.3 = Very good

Keep up the same quality when it comes to music, but perhaps add a little more details to the audio in the level apart from the actual music. Also, the ending looked dull, so I couldn't give it a full 10/10 on visuals. As for the gameplay, I wouldn't try to help it much in this level, instead it's something you should pay attention to in the future levels.

If you disagree with anything I said, feel free to oppose. These are things which I feel should be noted and I mean no offense or anything like that with anything I said here. Also know, that in my rating system, anything above 5/10 is good. It is a very good level and you are a great creator, one of my favourites in fact.

It is well planned? ... uhhh... of course it is!
Like to know what you think, mate, even if it will be brutal....

Edit: Thank you very much for your long & thoughtfull opinion of my level. and I'm rather flattered by my 7,3!

Great level, very professional and very unusual. quite odd actually. I kind of hated and loved it at the same time, but that's a good thing. love it when people think outside the square, great work. if you get the chance try space kid in demon land Http://lbp.me/v/h5nmqv-2013-03-16 05:04:00

I like the interesting visual style you used for this level. The enviorment looked nice throughout.
The gameplay felt simple and slow-paced for the most part but employed some cool ideas as well.

This was a solid level and I enjoyed playing it.

It's funny. I can play your levels again and again and find new things to like about them every time. It took me another run through this level to see how it created great visuals with the help of the background as well and how much detail went into the smallest of posters here.

PS: I can't wait for The Mask of Shadows. You still working on that?

Cool that you went back to the tower.

Yes, I always try to utilize the background. I think it can add a lot to the visuals of a level if properly used.
And yes, I'm working on The Mask of Shadows. Making nice progress. Here is a little preview:

The talented Debonaire Toast has created some incredible costumes for the level, which will blow your socks off.

Awesome Ginger. Twisted looking sackbot. I like her.

Sticky, bouncy, tug tug tug! Sticky, bouncy, tug tug tug! Yay!

You placed a big X at the edge to warn the player not to drop down there. I have oppositional defiant disorder and the curiosity of a cat so I naturally jump down there anyway, only to find I have achieved nothing other than a free climb back to the top. You warned me and I didn't listen.

Amsterdam coffee shop here? Hmm, anyway. One epic double bounce jump over the giant monkey-woman, up past the toilet, swing on the sponge and jump....all the way down to the start again!!? Hmmm.... I get the suspicion that you might be deliberately tempting me to do this now. Sneaky. Cruel. I like it.

Sticky, bouncy, tug tug tug, all the way back up again, ignore the sadistically placed sponge this time....and...

Hello Ginger!

Yep, nice level . Hearted.

Hahahhahaha. I did the exact same things you did and had a lot of fun in this level too. You also gave me a great idea for a level with that "X" comment! Thanks!

This is a great level.

The platforming was simple, but effective... yet still felt quite unique in a sense. Loved the design, both of the level and of the characters. The block that complained that I was gonna jump on his head made me giggle. At the end, it left me wanting more. No real negatives... perhaps could've been a tad longer.... but I'm probably being greedy.

Would you be able to play and give feedback for my level? https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=78946-Contrast-A-Single-Player-Puzzle-Platformer

Those cubes are always being mistreated, dragged about, stomped upon, tossed in the air to flick switches.... enough is enough... it's time for a revolution of the squares!

Thanks for the review mate. I'll play your level soon and get back to you, looks really interesting. Edit: Left you some feedback on your thread.
