Project Arcade Hell

Hey all, poorjack here with a new project.

I don't want to really discuss... TOO much about this game I am working on because I am well known for completing projects 80% of the way and then abandoning them AFTER hyping them up beyond belief. So I will keep this short and sweet

I am currently working on a precise, tight, action packed arcade platformer reminiscent of Ghouls N Ghosts. It is extremely difficult, and I would like to get a couple of folks form around here to test it, try to cheat, and try to break it.

I cannot stress enough the difficulty of this one. It is meant to make you angry, so I would like some veteran gamers to help test it out. It is being developed for the LPBC10 contest, so I would prefer players who will not be entering the contest, but I am not too picky.

NOW for those of you who aren't interested in testing, here are some concrete features of the game that have been implemented so far

-Tight controlls with a classic arcade layout and a "pro" layout for competetive play
-4 fully functioning and unique weapon types
-Custom scoring system
-Custom checkpoints
-Simple save feature
-3 enemy types with tiered difficulty types
-dynamic enemy respawn, and random bullet hell firing

Just a short bit about the story and world, you play as an unnamed theoretical physicist who has cracked the secret to time travel, but he has found that time travel has strange effects on the human mind, and he can no longer remember his personal history in sequence. He is now in search of answers and all sorts of stuff like that.

When he travels between time waves, he enters a physical representation of time travel that he has named "Tartarus" this physical plane is full of creatures that manifest from the energies within the protagonist. Is his drive to remember who he is powerful enough to traverse Tartarus? That's up to you.

Doesn't sound very enticing right now, but I am working my hardest to make this a satisfying arcade experience that is easy to play, difficult to pass, and purely masochistic to master.

sounds very interesting to me... u can call me a veteran player, i like masocore games and levels haha... and i love ghoulsn and goblins, i even own the original games... well not for NES but for SNES atleast...

Well, what really helps finishing projects... and especially more serious projects... is getting feedback from other people like this community, especially positive feedback hehe.... it might give u the motivation u need to finish your project...

So send me a key or a code for your lockbox and i gladly test it out and give some feedback.

Hey thanks for the enthusiasm. Super Ghouls N Ghosts for Super Nintendo is in my opinion the most perfect game that has ever been made. So I will send you a key tonight when I publish a rough up of the first stage. It doesn't look pretty yet, and it has no music, but what I need tested is the various weapons, enemy AI and to see if there are any game breaking bugs.2013-03-10 21:03:00
