ps3 handset issue

Archive: 3 posts

I have 2 handsets
Previously, when the ps button on any handset was pressed the system would turn on, now the handsets just flashes continuously for 5 minuets.
on top of this, they both seem to struggle to connect to the system, when you hit ps they just flash then go dead, only the one conected via charge lead will register (it can be either so long as it's the one connected) and if un connected it will just turn off automatically, though if the ps button is pressed immediatly after it will decide to connect sometimes.
finally, at certain times specific buttons seem to stop working, for instance when playing dungeon defenders the r1, r2, l2 and arrow key buttons all refused to work making the game unplayable. previously, the r1 attack wouldn't work on fat princess (though that game is riddled with glitches, it could just have been a network issue) these issues aren't handset specific, i swapped handset when playing dungeon defenders and the same buttons weren't working on the other one, leading me to believe it isnot a problem with the handsets, they're just what's being affected by some other issue with the system.
have I changed a setting somewhere accidentally or is this some issue with the system that needs to be fixed by someone who knows what they're doing?

Didn't you made a thread like this before? I remember someone talking about "what in the world is a handset?" I swear I've seen a thread like this before.

EDIT: you did made one. just not on this forum.
"handset? do you mean a controller? or is he talking about a headset?
this donest read like its been through a translator...
Now I'm curious and to what place calls then "handsets" "- Furry Fury

Anyway, how old or used are the controllers? Tried newer controllers? Tested the controllers on a friend's console?

nah, that thread was about a glitch in FFA, this issue is across all games, and again, based on the fact that the same buttons don't work across the controller, and only at specific (though seemingly random) times, this issue doesn't appear to actually be with the handsets themselves, they're just what's being affected by some other issue.
that thread was ridiculous mind, I've brought up knowing them as handsets, as they are sets for your hands. there was no need for such a ridiculous over reaction from the community to the use of one word over another, and in fact, all their silliness lead to insomniac seeming to not take the issue seriously, as it is still a serious glitch in their game and stops me and many others being able to play co-op.

back on topic, has seriously no-one experienced this issue before? It's getting rather annoying and I'd love to get it fixed. if not, is there somewhere else I can post to get an answer?
