| Yes, the King of Evil is a 12 year old boy. Problem? But seriously. I started watching Naruto last summer, and am currently up to date with the manga and anime (dub and sub). So I was just wondering if there were any other fans here. Beyond fireblitz, who I've been talking to abut it, but meh.Also, if there's anyone interested in giving it a shot. It'd take forever to catch up, but I'm surprised how well it all held up. Especially since my previous shoenen experience was Dragon Ball Z, which wasn't exactly a logical story /shrug So... Yeah. | Never seen much of the series, but I've played a few of the games and they've been mostly fun. Though I like to think of it as this: In Kakashi Gaiden, Obito's whole thing was how Kakashi's dad was a hero for not abandoning his comrades at the expense of the mission. Therefore, by seeing his best friend kill his crush, he saw once again the utter bitterness of this world where friends kill friends for the glory of the village and the mission, thus he once to put the world into a dream where that never happens. Well, The English Dub is currently at 350 episodes, while the Sub is at 500 episodes or so... Altogether, about 200 or so are filler (not being from the manga)... out of which, you can skip a few... With the ones you WOULD want to watch, oh, let's just say 20 or so... So 280 altogether, if you skip all filler. Each episode is 18 minutes, so 5040 minutes, or 84 hours... not counting the episodes which would be released after you start watching, and the manga which is currently 60 chapters ahead of the anime... So... 90 hours or so. Huh. Well, I can understand not having that willpower. It took me half a year to catch up. Granted, I took a few breaks every so often, but still. | Naruto was a very cool manga (I read manga, don't watch anime, because manga have a better pace) until...Jiraya's departure, then it went downhill. It seems that Kishimoto fell in love with Sasuke and planned the story until that point...then he started to "improvise". Unlike One Piece that only gets better and better and without any kind of plot holes. The only character I really really really like in Naruto is Shikamaru, followed by Kakashi and Jiraya, everyone else is really bland and cliched. I still read it but...by inertia. | I suggest Full Metal Alchemist. It's well drawn, there's no faffing about, no filler episodes and actual closure. And there's real drama instead of cheap teenage angst. Don't watch the "original" Full Metal Alchemist anime from 2003 though. It's a very bad adaptation. They started producing it too soon, so the story deviated heavily from the manga and ended up sucking as a result. | Current arc in the manga is pretty interesting. Hope it only lasts another week or two though. I bet the flashback will at least, and then hopefully not too much longer will we get back to the main fight. Whee! Also, I've been working on some fanfiction recently.
