iPad cracked

Archive: 5 posts

I was using the iPad, just browsing the web and I don't know how it happened but it slipped from my hands. My heart dropped when I saw the cracks in the screen. There is many cracks on the left, a little bit on the right. And one going across the screen. Does anyone know where I can fix it? Or I'm thinking apple has some sort of warranty that comes with the iPad? Please help, I need to find a solution.2013-03-03 14:59:00

I've seen several places online that both fix and sell replacement screens for all sorts of devices, especially iPhones, iPads and iPods. I have done one for an iPod (though the parts inside are horrible small!!), it wasn't too bad and the kit was pretty cheap.

I'm sure the iPad will be a bit more expensive since it is a much larger screen, but it should be much easier to replace.

...I took a quick look around and most are like $95 - $100 for the replacement digitizer screen.

Yes, is much cheaper to go a route other than Apple. A friend of mine does computer repairs and fixes Ipods, IPads, PSPs, DS's, Vita's etc. My daughter cracked her Ipod screen and this guy normally charges $50 but I got the friend discount for just parts. As Jdubs said, you can buy the replacement kits online. Be wary of the sites claiming they'll fix it for such and such price and you send it to them. Research them out. Ask google for customer reviews of said website. Some of those are scams.2013-03-03 19:02:00

Thanks guys, ill look into these kits. Hopefully I can find one for a reasonable price, if you ever find anything that's a really good price, please tell me.

EDIT:

I think I found a good website to send my iPad to, but I want you guys to check it out and make sure it's legit, I think it is but I just want to be sure, the site is ipadscreenrepair.com. I have a 4th gen, so it will cost about $155, and I don't know anyone who can fix it for me, I also don't have any experience on repairing stuff, so I think I'm gonna have to pay extra so they can fix it for me. Tell me what you guys think.
