Heya guys and girls, ladys and gentlemen.^^ Ya, its been a while since i published my last Level, nearly one and a half years. ^^ But finally I can present a new Level, aftertwo mont in work, so here it is. Hanging Fortress [Plattformer] As named, it's in the broadest way ment as a Plattformer. But of Course I couldn't resist to add tonns of Logicstuff and other effects. In this Level you will visit a hmmm lets call it edgy fortress while it is a stormy night and some things seem to be a bit fishy. (no, no water^^) One or another surprise awaits you here. http://i1.lbp.me/img/bl/4e1639a34fd0616de44d9267555a549bd0476f78.png http://lbp.me/v/jeznp- Feedback is very welcome. http://ib.lbp.me/img/ft/0fbba2697adfa56ed8b096d91becc1adf67bff97.jpg http://i7.lbp.me/img/ft/7e7b2b5c9aeab0b9d9ee9d4eb96881859aa6f5f6.jpg http://i5.lbp.me/img/ft/cc508303de66d134ee72045bdf5400e08a52f05b.jpg http://ib.lbp.me/img/ft/b7bd416fe2b9bf1838a8a22387c743a0a9267bde.jpg http://i2.lbp.me/img/ft/1a25448cebf68e574fd833d167e85281d934c21a.jpg | 2013-03-01 18:54:00 Author: choeb Posts: 202 |

Just played your level and here's my feedback. So far I like the theme you have going here and also like the music you chose to go along with it. The area when you first get the butterfly out the cage, after you break it the steel that fall down on the left blocks off the jumpads so you can't jump back up and grab the grapple hook no more. The area after that where there's a gap that you have to get across, I jumped into the fire and had it bounce me up onto the other side and after I got across then the butterfly make it so that a bridge came down but I was already across so I don't know if it was suppose to happen like that or if that's a error. As I got further to where you get to a area with the floor is electric and it goes up? And the butterfly takes you up, well if you let go soon as the butterfly start to fly straight up you'll come back down and die and once that happen the butterfly acts up and starts flying all over the place so I couldn't finish the level. I'll be back to complete it but overall it wasn't a bad level. Just few bugs that need to be fixed and your good. | 2013-03-01 20:49:00 Author: Sabre_ Posts: 653 |

That Butterfly elevator bug should be fixed now. Once again, thanks for reporting | 2013-03-02 03:59:00 Author: choeb Posts: 202 |
Hi choeb. I played this level in the weeeeeee hours of the morning. Once the gameplay started, I reached for my cold cup of coffee and took a big gulp, as I realized I would need every intuitive logic and gaming skill I possessed. The level was very intense with a unique ambience about it, and I enjoyed this. It kept me off balance, which became obvious to me it was your intent from the onset. Very clever. This level has great gaming elements and unique challenges that the typical player will not be prepared for. I enjoyed this, but I fear you will lose many players due to the difficulty. Hopefully not, and I wish for you success. Very good job with this. | 2013-03-02 15:24:00 Author: RickRock_777 Posts: 1567 |
Thank you RickRock for your great feedback. Of course this was my plan to confuse the player and I even had worse ideas about that. ^^ But you maybe be right, I didn't think it is that hard for the player, surprised me a little bit.^^ | 2013-03-03 14:24:00 Author: choeb Posts: 202 |
Choeb, it's still a great level with some excellent details. Your level stats indicate approximately only 20% of the players are actually completing the level. I think you lose most of them at the section where the tube shoots are, and also later in the level where you must depress the 2 buttons on either side of the spinning saw blades. Not sure what you could do to tame those sections down a bit, except slow down the In/Out movement of the Zebra print material at the tube shoots, and by the saws leave the bounce pads for a second longer and leave the button switches activated longer. I think the challenge would still be enjoyable, and you will increase your level completed stats which is critical. | 2013-03-03 15:50:00 Author: RickRock_777 Posts: 1567 |
Yay, The tupe section is now slowed down from 0,7 to 1,2 sec. I will see what to change at the boss, maybe increase the bouncepad time. | 2013-03-03 18:42:00 Author: choeb Posts: 202 |
I agree with Rickrock and already wrote you a bigger statement on the german forum-section. ^^ Nice to see, that you're already editing your level. | 2013-03-04 18:29:00 Author: Lumina Posts: 641 |
I have to agree with RickRock's comments. I think he summed up the level really well. It's very ambitious and I take my hat off to you for wanting to create something so different and exciting. It is indeed really intense and the artwork and gameplay are genuinely original. I loved the idea of the butterfly that accompanies you on your journey and the whole unsettling and edgy atmosphere is very well conjured. You walk a tightrope, though, when you set out to unbalance the player and present them with unexpected or disconcerting challenges. It can so easily tip over into plain confusing and frustrating. I thought there were some places where the balance tipped the wrong way. For me the worst section was the one with the set of large spinning wheels which you negotiate first from left to right and then back again. It took me ages and a lot of deaths before I realised that there were some semi-concealed bouncepads above the central wheel that I should have been aiming for. It may just have been my fault but I really didn't find the route at all obvious at that point and nearly gave up. I definitely want to replay and I think I'll probably fare better on the second attempt. I certainly salute you for the scale and creativity of what you have attempted here. | 2013-03-05 17:43:00 Author: shropshirelass Posts: 1455 |
Thank you shropshirelass for sharing your experience with me and your feedback overall. I allready made a little update on that part. So now it should be better signalized by some scorebubbles and a light. Hope this will help you on your second run. And of course thanks for the good feedback. | 2013-03-05 22:50:00 Author: choeb Posts: 202 |
there's not much i can flaw really, probably best level i've played in a long time. Only thing i struggled with is that i didnt notice one of the spinning wheels had changed layer off camera so i was wondering where i should go for a moment, apart from that, perfect. | 2013-03-05 23:51:00 Author: Unknown User |
I actually played this a few days ago, so I might be a few game changes out of date, but I'm here so I'm going to give you my thoughts anyway. I thought it looked great, with some nice visual effects and mood setting. The gameplay was fun and varied as well. The difficulty was not overwhelming for the most part, (in this case it looks like you adjusted that before I played), but it was difficult to see some important parts at times. For me the worst section was the one with the set of large spinning wheels which you negotiate first from left to right and then back again. Especially there. But it looks like you already worked on it some more so I should probably give it another go. It was a good experience the first time around so I'd imagine anything that changed will probably improve it even more. | 2013-03-06 19:08:00 Author: xxMATEOSxx Posts: 1787 |
Yay thank you for giving your thoughts. Yes I allready changed some things like the camera angle at rhe fire wall. In the wheelarea i made the hole to aim for more visible by using a light and some scorebubbles. The timing of the tubesection has ben slowed down. And at last I increased the time of the bouncepads at the boss. I would be glad of another try. | 2013-03-06 23:21:00 Author: choeb Posts: 202 |
fast level with cool design, good camera work and challenging gameplay. good job | 2013-03-07 06:48:00 Author: FabFio71 Posts: 584 |
Played it, too a few days ago Really Liked (and hearted) it for its originality and some exciting gameplay ideas - but stucked when I didn't know where to go next. U told me that it was just a confusing camera angle, so I'm very glad bout that you already reworked some parts of the level and fixed a few bugs I will sure replay the level again, soon! gj | 2013-03-07 10:25:00 Author: Shaggy Vinci Posts: 969 |
