i've have that problem all the time.......

i have lots of items colected and lots of pictures that i have to erase each time a play another person's level. when i play that level i colect new items and the space disappears.... i know that we can archive the photos to the hard drive but can we archive objects??? i try only to keep the objects well designed or that i intend to use in some way or another... to learn something about how it's built or just to adore the beautty of it.

i just dealed with that menu to often and i'm sick of it........... we could have more space.... yes we shure do!!! but can we do something about it???

imagine that you finish the mighty mite tank you don't keep it??? i've designed a full tank and there are lots of people that said to me that they will give lots of use to it....... i've seen some levels made for somebody else than the creator of mighty mite tank RZ22g's...

i know and i understand your point of view.... i finished the mighty mite level and i didn't kept the tank because i have one of my own..... but i've got the hability to build it, and have got the time and the pacience...... there are lots of sackboys that don't have....

the popit problem is still a big one i think...............

You can really archive your pics since you can't import them back.

It basically means that shouldn't have particular attachement to objects and picture and always erase them.

And this especially since the game is having HUGE bugs when you're having a large profile. You're really playing with fire, you will lose your save.

You might have too many levels on your moon. I use to keep around 10-12 back ups of the digestive tract level, that's far more than I actually need. I now only have 4 or something, with the level being in different states so I can work on it from different angles.

Also pictures from photbooths take up space in the profile, as well as costumes saved. Some people overlook those parts as well. Pictures won as prizes also count in this category.

My objects also takes space now that I think about it. You can just keep it to the objects you are currently working on or are really important, and cut down on the number of back ups.

Basically, I cut down on the number of redundant things I have, and that's cut down my profile size dramatically.

This "profile is too large" problem/bug is getting on my nerves. I have 6 levels on my moon and I want to create more, but it seems I can't make a new one without having to sacrifice one of the old ones. What's the point of having so many slots on the moon if you can only have less than ten levels?

Has anyone found a way to fix this problem? Any news if MM is working on a way to fix it?

I would be curious about something.

I wonder how many empty levels you can save on the moon if your profile doesn't have any objects, pictures and costumes saved...

I finally got nailed with this last night. Infuriating, to say the least. I hadn't realized that having too many levels on your moon (which for me, is probably about 1/4 full) was a contributor to the problem. My popit is cleaner than a whistle, yet I'm being nagged about my profile while playing levels. (oh yeah, remind me to thank someone with my fist regarding this - those **** profile messages can cause you to DIE while playing levels because they interrupt things like jumping and grabbing)

So I've deleted all my backups, and now pretty much have one copy of every level. I'm seriously worried that I'm going to have to make tough choices in the future to delete projects I've started and probably won't finish, even if I've invested 10+ hours into them.

It's been said that the reason why the profile is so small is because all of these things have to be kept in memory during play. Can anyone truly justify WHY any objects in my popit need to be available unless I'm create mode? How about levels - they should be able to be archived on the HDD and accessed only when being loaded.

I'm not a programmer for Mm, and I have no idea what their code looks like, but 90% of profile clutter seems like it is needless. Store my data on the hard drive, keep my stickers in memory since they are the only thing accessible at any time, dump popit objects to an archive where they are loaded only when called upon in create mode or integrated into a loaded level.

A moon with 50 spaces is useless. I will soon have to clear off my moon and move everything to My Levels online so that I can breathe while trying to make a level or two at a time.

I've been getting it since the last patch, it started to pop up if had pictures saved now it's doing it all the time. I don't have any pictures, costumes, levels or community stuff saved. Annoying...

Would it help to "store" stuff on the moon?

The way the game seems to work:

-You have like 2 instances in wich the game places data. You could see this as 2 partitions in your save file that is on your HDD. One could be considered "your profile" and the other one "your moon". This is why you actually "save" some profile space by putting your objects in some empty "container level". (ok it's just moving data between 2 space but whatever, you know what i meant)

-When in single player you click on a level, the game downloads it in the memory in its entirety. This is probalbly to simplify netcode. If stuff was constantly streaming into your console it would probably be harder to sync the players together.

-When you connect with another player, the game loads the whole profile of the other player minus his objects. This is because you both can see what he other is dressed of and you can both stick any sticker, photo or decoration that is in your popit.

-Your profile IS saved on the HDD and certain things are duplicated in the LBP servers. What happens is that your profile is using some determined space on the HDD. This is a Sony devellopement guideline. They want save file to stay the same size for user convenience. So you don't lose progress because suddendly your hard drive is full. I know it's a detail but you'd be surprised how DETAILED are devellopement guidelines for approval. (if you don't know what I am talking about, every game on the market need to be approved by the console maker in other to have the right to be marketed. They need to respect a set of rules, a standard of quality decided by the respective console maker, be it Sony, Microsoft, Nintendo).

By the way, Microsoft and Nintendo also prevent save files from increasing in space. When you create a save file at the beginning of a game it reserve the max space the file can ever take right away.

Ok then this makes me wonder about this scenario. Why not break apart the save file into multiple separate files like any other game? If save file size is a bottleneck imposed by the PS3's own architecture, then segregate portions of the save file.

Something even as simple as a virtual memory card system would work. When you enter into LBP, you load a mini-profile that contains specific goodies that you've saved (whether it be levels or objects). Essentially you create bundles of things and save/load them separately and they are represented as separate save files.

Part of the difficulty in understanding the current structuring is the transparency of object/level size. There's no way to see how much room something is hogging up.

Wich game does that? I can't recall any from the top of my head.

The most "seperate" files i've seen is game seperating the profile and the save or the option settings from the save.

Some games will save each different instance save as a seperate file. The Orange Box off the top of my head does this. Others just lump multiple saves into the one file. So the precedent is there, just not necessarily the execution (that I can immediately think of).2009-02-10 06:38:00

Still this respect the file size rule and it wouldn't help the case of LBP.

The games like Orange Box are formating some space for your save and the save file "space" itself will never increase, it's only that you can ask the game to make a new formated space for another save file.

The way LBP should have been done is that the game would have formated some save space for the different things that can be saved. You would see multiple save files that could be named like this:

-"Profile/Costumes data"
-"Objects/Pictures data"
-"Saved Levels data"

and so on.

Sadly, I really doubt they would completely redo their save management AFTER release. I don't want to be negative but i've never seen such thing done on any game EVER and on ANY console. It's really hard to tell if it would be wishful thinking or not to wish for another save file management or again, increasing the save space in the present saving model the game is using.
