Sky Temple Ruins

After much fighting with the thermometer I've finally finished this track: Sky Temple Ruins https://karting.lbp.me/v/9dxu http://i.imgur.com/TYOp7LQ.jpg Race through these lofty temple ruins. The course is difficult to master, with sharp turns and narrow passageways, but I hope worth the effort. Try to stay in first place, as you will see more special effects that way. ![]() If you were in the beta and liked my Lava Tubin' track, sorry it took so long to get this out. I hope it's worth the wait. Here's a video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n7YRd9HTH1E | 2013-02-22 16:30:00 Author: ArgorokX ![]() Posts: 5 |
Looks awesome man! Going to check it out. BTW you might wanna edit your privacy settings on lbp.me since I can't queue your level. | 2013-02-22 19:19:00 Author: Schark94 ![]() Posts: 3378 |
Wow, looks amazing!! Queued. [Edit] Played it and it was great! Are there any shortcuts? I can't see how I could improve my time by much more, other than to not get screwed over with storm cloud weapons when I need to grapple. | 2013-02-23 04:16:00 Author: Unknown User ![]() |

My brother and I are loving this track ... we've already played it loads of times. He's running 3:06 whereas I'm on 3:08 at the moment ... I see Agoro himself has been pushing the limits to get down to 3:15. The tornado is a massive gamble haha ... you never know if you're gonna be fine or not. Easily a new favourite of ours for the originality of it and the variation of curves, heights, obstacles, swings and of course the weather! | 2013-02-24 22:06:00 Author: Unknown User ![]() |
Wow, this really blew me away (particularly the tornado). I'm amazed you actually managed to make something that feels this massive with the amount of track and area provided. I particularly liked the helicopter directors and the alternate route with all the turning tables and of course the whirlwind was a great effect. This outdid Lava Tubing 10 fold. A couple things I feel I have to mention though. 1. Even though the arrows delineated the direction of the course well enough I found a couple sections that looked like shortcuts or alternate routes but actually weren't and would have preferred some barricades to avoid confusion but that might just be personal. 2. I feel like while the area was massive and epic in scale it was kind of bare looking in many spots. Although I probably can't fault you for this as I'm sure you probably maxed out the thermo on this one and the features here are doing a lot more than some extra decorations. Still, maybe more variety of materials could've added a lot. Anyway capital stuff, this was an instant heart. Hope you'll be making more stuff soon. | 2013-02-26 04:35:00 Author: Unknown User ![]() |
Glad people like it. It would have been done like a month ago, but I stewed on it for a few weeks because thermo suddenly started increasing a lot with every addition and I had to make concessions. I originally wanted to have planters with foliage and a big temple on the 3rd lap path with an arboretum with a big tree and fountains but the budget simply wouldn't allow and I was getting some pop in issues on the central temple. The third lap would have taken you to a temple behind the central temple, then back inside the central temple to a section you don't go to on the first two laps. In the end I couldn't even add stickers, and any changes I wanted to make meant finding stuff I could delete ![]() | 2013-02-26 06:22:00 Author: ArgorokX ![]() Posts: 5 |
Yeah I kind of learned the hard way that the thermo can be pretty unforgiving and ended up having to redesign a whole level. Probably would have otherwise been published by now. I prefer detailed environments so I'm going with an approach that favors more scenery within a smaller area. You've done an astounding job maximizing the amount of space without a glaring lack of detail here though. | 2013-02-26 08:17:00 Author: Unknown User ![]() |
Just played it last night, this is some top-notch work here, shame you were really limited with thermo. Best parts for me were the drop-away sections and of course, the tornado. How the heck did you do that anyway? I figured a smoke emitter on a rotating base, but the floating effect has me stumped. Force-field with a pathfinder? All the same, you deserved the team pick. Well done! | 2013-03-03 04:10:00 Author: Hiroshige0 ![]() Posts: 114 |
