In the Belly of the Beast - [SPOTLIGHTED!! MM-PICKED!! IGN-featured!!]
Archive: 54 posts
Level: In the Belly of the Beast Creator: MostEvilMilo Description: The dreaded Great Whale has swallowed Jonah. Your task is simple: rescue him and get out alive. But at what cost? Are you ready to make the ultimate sacrifice to save the life of just one man? Hello! This is my second creation, and I'm really satisfied with it... If you guys have time, I hope you get to play it. By the way, I made TWO versions of this level... the Demonic Dark Version and the Daylight Version. The Demonic Dark Version is the way the level is meant to be played, but for those who find it too dark, they can play the Daylight Version instead. If you wish to check this level out, look for me in LittleBigPlanet. My user name is MostEvilMilo. Please don't forget to heart it if you enjoyed it! I would also appreciate comments and reviews. I will make sure to review or comment on your level in return. Super thanks! Omg this level is dedicated to me!? * cameras flash, red carpet rolls down, music starts to play, I exit the limo * Yeah well, it's probably not dedicated to me, but I love how it's inside a giant whale, I will MAKE SURE to play this level. | 2009-01-22 03:40:00 Author: Whalio Cappuccino Posts: 5250 |
Er... by the way... can someone help me? My YouTube video isn't appearing on the page... why's that?? I used the YouTube wrap [YOUTUBE] but it doesn't seem to work... Thanks in advance... | 2009-01-22 04:20:00 Author: mostevilmilo Posts: 131 |
Take all the numbers and letters after the equal sign ( = ) and wrap those in the youtube tags. The numbers and letters for your video are cmqbbjfLkvI by the way. | 2009-01-22 04:22:00 Author: Whalio Cappuccino Posts: 5250 |

Hum... I initially was impressed by the changes in light atmosphere when the mouth close itself. However, seing again the video, it seems that the video had been realised from the two versions of the level levels with different ambiant light/filtering.. Am I wrong? Btw, the level looks great | 2009-01-22 08:06:00 Author: Takelow Posts: 1355 |
Thanks for the comment. You're right, the trailer was created by combining the two versions of the level... the first part is the Daylight version, and then when the mouth closes it's the Dark version... this is how I wanted the level to be like, with everything getting darker the second you get into the whale, but unfortunately LBP doesn't allow for changes in day/night light/dark... | 2009-01-22 08:57:00 Author: mostevilmilo Posts: 131 |
Yes! I hope it will be one day possible to change day/night atmospher in the same level... Some tips actually exist to simulate this, but it is not really satisfying. If you wan't my opinion, you have done the good choice in making the video with the two versions. At least this video represent YOUR TRUE vision of the level. And as a creator, i know that this is really important for me. I will play it as soon as possible and came back for more thoughts | 2009-01-22 09:19:00 Author: Takelow Posts: 1355 |
This level looks really cool... I'll try to check it out! I was wondering how you did the lighting effects but then I realised the same thing as Takelow. Heh... Out of interest, what type of capture card do you use? Because the video was really good quality. | 2009-01-22 10:53:00 Author: Unknown User |
this level simply rocks.......... i have to try it first but i'm a huge fan of the style.... dinamic plaform looks, super criative i loved it!!! i must give my congratulations to it's author... and i promise thati'll test it real soon.... | 2009-01-22 15:02:00 Author: misterwonderloo Posts: 164 |

Thanks for all your comments! Heh... Out of interest, what type of capture card do you use? Because the video was really good quality. I didn't use a capture card... I used a Pioner DVD recorder... Then I used some software to convert the movie files into a format which can be read by Adobe After Effects. After I was done with editing, I cranked up the settings and rendered the trailer as a wmv. I hope that answered your question. Btw, can someone please help me with the F4F mechanics? I've been searching for the rules but I can't seem to find it. I know that in F4F, in order to receive reviews/comments, you have to give your own reviews/comments of other peoples' levels, but I'd like to know the exact details of the rules... thanks in advance to anyone who can help me!! | 2009-01-23 05:06:00 Author: mostevilmilo Posts: 131 |
Here you go. https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=t=6856&highlight=Feedback And just to clarify, you don't have to be the first one to give feedback/comments, it can be the other way around, you just have to do your part and give feedback/comments back. | 2009-01-23 05:56:00 Author: Whalio Cappuccino Posts: 5250 |
looks great... will play it when I get the chance! | 2009-01-26 07:59:00 Author: Sammy_Gin Posts: 1 |
Hooo boy was this level awesome or what. When I started I thought it was going to suck because the ship area wasn't too great, and then I see a regular cloud. I was totally surprised by this, and you are definitely the most evil milo I know. This was like some Blood Omen bible adventure cartoon, it was great. The design was superb use of the material set, the color correction, the way everything had no music and the use of sounds was highlighted by it... the diving whale with the timed level rotations, the shivering and whimpering survivors... man, killing stuff is fun lol the devices and sacrifice systems you set up were amazing and totally entertaining. I ike how you kept moving Jonah along with the player to keep his character present. You really have to stop and think at some parts, and nothing is told to you. At first I thought about telling you to give indications with cut scenes and sounds, but I think that adds to the level to leave the player clueless and force them to look around and discover thing. Also, you can cheat at the heart wheel, Just get in by the blue exit door and ride it to the other side. I went back just to do that part correctly, but still. Other than that, the only thing I didn't really like was filling up my profile with a bunch of strewn about prizes. I guess people will like them though. Better make that "you are my SACKrifice!" huh? No? I give this level 5 stars, totally inventive and way too awesome. | 2009-01-26 13:55:00 Author: Unknown User |
Thanks for your review! I did some changes to my levels; I removed the crappy prizes and retained only the more interesting, shareable ones (like the robot shark and prize-bubble-spewing clam). Also, I fixed the loophole in the heart area which allows you to cheat. Thanks again! | 2009-01-27 05:06:00 Author: mostevilmilo Posts: 131 |
I played this last night, here are some thoughts: I really liked the color filter you had going on this one, it had a sort of dark and "hazy" look that worked really well within the context of your story. I also enjoyed your use of lighting and the Christmas lights studded throughout the whale's flesh did not seem out of place. The different switch puzzles were expertly designed, I particularly liked the spinning heart. You clearly put a lot of thought into this and it was well worth it. The way you had the level turn at certain points was ingenious. This is not the first level have played that uses this mechanic but it is the first one where everything happens automatically and the change is not overly dramatic. Very well done. Of course my favorite part was sacrificing all those sackpeople lol. I smiled every single time I took a group of them out and I never thought killing something in LBP would be so enjoyable. I love all the different contraptions you came up with to make those sacks bleed and the blood effect was a nice touch. Using the bones to build a "bridge" was a very cool gameplay element as well. The story did not make any sense and usually that would really irritate me but in this case it gave the level a surreal quality that I really enjoyed. Suggestions: - Custom content please. I am really getting tired of seeing the same objects from Story mode over and over again. Take the time to make your own characters and your level really becomes your own and guarantees that everything is fresh and new. In your case it was not that big of a deal because you only use a couple of characters from story mode and the main one only really appears frequently at the end but it is still something to think about. - If your thermo allows then some more decoration on the boat at the beginning wouldn't hurt. Minor point but hey, why not?. - All those prize bubbles started to annoy me after awhile. This is mostly due to the "save bug" that many of us have been experiencing so I actually try to avoid prize bubbles when I play levels lol. Overall this was an amazing piece of work that everyone should check out. 5 stars and hearted! I look forward to your next project | 2009-01-27 06:58:00 Author: OCK Posts: 1536 |
Hi MostEvilMilo, I had the chance to play the darker version of your level last night and i found it really GREAT! I will develop a little bit more: PROS: - OK, it is a detail, and not really related to the level himself, but i loved the "Avatar" of your level (the circle picture). -The Mouth part is impressive. I loved the movements of the tongue and the moment of the closure is very impressive (with great sound!) -Your puzzles are fun. -Good use of light. - my Main pro: Your level is incredibly alive! All is moving and there is a lot of organic sounds. All is fiting very well. Great work for the overall atmosphere. I particularily loved the heart section: great sound, great design and visuals, greatgameplay. This is a PERFECT section for me! CONS/SUGGESTS: - The body and organs we cross in your level seems...very original... I thought we was traveling in a whale, and since i never did such a thing before, whales are mammals, and mammals share a lot of common points concerning organs and interior organic systems. - It take me a very long time to find the second switch in the room where you must activate the two rotating wheeles in sponge. Perhaps a cinematic view with cam will be useful here. - I thought that there was a litlle lack of variety in the matters used in your level. It seems to be the near same from the start to the end. But your thermo will certainly not be ok -I found that your boss was...thin... and not very charismatic... However i loved the way he died (SCROUICHHHH). Overall, a very IMPRESSIVE work: 5 stars, hearted, creator hearted! BTW, congratulations for the Mm's Picks of yesterday! | 2009-01-28 19:44:00 Author: Takelow Posts: 1355 |
Hey, man. You got on an MM pick list, just to let you know. Shows I've got good taste | 2009-01-28 21:38:00 Author: Unknown User |
Killed the boss, and the dissolve gate wouldn't move. Other than that I thought it was brilliant, but not being able to finish it puts a downer on it. You should check that out. | 2009-01-28 21:56:00 Author: TheSeraphor Posts: 73 |
Um... I'm kinda confused. I loved the atmosphere of the level, but the sponge with the purple key on it got stuck where the lever was. Was the whale supposed to turn over? Because it didn't. I really liked the look of everything though. And as OCK said, use custom content. When you use story level characters in your levels it looks out-of-place and lazy... I just want to know what to do so I can finish the level. | 2009-01-29 10:54:00 Author: Unknown User |
I played the level.....It's great!Tip:It would be better if it were in the shape of a whale. | 2009-01-29 15:25:00 Author: Schwem00 Posts: 255 |
Many thanks to everyone who reviewed this level, and to everyone else who played it. I agree with the cons/suggestions about the boat looking too simple... unfortunately, as much as I'd love to fix it, my thermo's giving me a really hard time. @_@ In my initial plan, the boat was actually supposed to be a little bigger, with a simple puzzle to be solved before you could jump into the whale's mouth... but in the end I decided to dedicate more thermo space to the interior of the whale... I WILL try, though to squeeze in some more space to put a few objects on the boat... I also agree with you guys about the importance of creating unique objects instead of using custom made ones. Jonah was actually supposed to be a whole lot more detailed, with some moving parts (like the guy on the ship). But there really wasn't just enough space anymore. So I opted to just use Cousin Jalapeno, because I thought his crazy/creepy appearance captured the essence of the Jonah character I envisioned, and because, being a simple triangle with a few objects, he was very light on the thermo... As much as it hurts me not to use original content, in cases like this I tend to prioritize the level design... if I can fit one more cool puzzle/obstacle by simplifying another element in the level, and as long as the sacrifice of that element won't drastically or adversely effect the fun-ness of the level, then I WILL make that sacrifice... As for the bugs... I loved the atmosphere of the level, but the sponge with the purple key on it got stuck where the lever was. Was the whale supposed to turn over? Because it didn't. Do you mean the sponge level in the heart area? If so, then the heart is supposed to continuously spin... The key has gotten stuck in the lever for me too, but it's a problem that is always resolved seconds later when it gets unstuck as soon as the heart becomes upside down... However, if it somehow stopped spinning for you, that's one major bug. @_@ I've checked it already though, still can't figure out what could've gone wrong... Killed the boss, and the dissolve gate wouldn't move. I have simplified the connections in this area so that this won't happen again (hopefully). One bug I did discover which hasn't been mentioned yet was this: if you CRUNCH way too many sackpeople in the CRUNCH area (like if you crunch so many the whole screen is filled with sackheads), there's a possibility that, in the next area with the stomach acid, no sackpeople will be available to throw into the acid. Which of course means you can't progress anymore. @_@ And last but definitely not least, thanks, guys, for telling me about this level being featured in the MM Picks... I had absolutely no idea until I read the most recent posts in this thread... I'm really happy it made it there, I still can't believe my luck. Again, thanks for playing my level, everyone. | 2009-01-30 13:09:00 Author: mostevilmilo Posts: 131 |
Um... I think I just broke your level on a one-off. I'll try it again. | 2009-01-30 13:12:00 Author: Unknown User |

Which of course means you can't progress anymore. @_@ I've had that happen before, actually. I refused to restart though, as I knew the people with me would just leave without seeing the next part... so I jumped into the little bit that was there and pulled pieces over to the other side and made a staircase out of it. It's dirty work to move around dead bodies, but someone's gotta do it. :kz: | 2009-01-30 13:33:00 Author: Unknown User |
Brilliant. Love your level. The rotaing of the level is a cool idea. The many sacrafices made me chuckle. And the puzzle element are ingenoious. 5* and hearted. | 2009-01-30 14:26:00 Author: bindibaji Posts: 119 |

It's dirty work to move around dead bodies, but someone's gotta do it. :kz: I think I've found a way to fix this possible problem/bug. Once a player reaches a certain point in the level, I'll simply have giant pistons destroy the earlier segments of the level. This way there will be more memory for the emitters in the later areas. I've just finished working on a new level and I used this technique to save up on space. | 2009-02-07 09:50:00 Author: mostevilmilo Posts: 131 |
Hah, definitely one of the most enjoyable levels I've played so far. In a gruesome, morbid fashion, of course. Let's start with the general aesthetics. The inside of the whale looked good enough, the lighting (Demonic Dark of course) was great and despite all the curvy terrain, the platforming never got annoying. I also liked the way you got swallowed and how the whole level (or at least the visible section) shifted at times. Brilliantly executed. Now, to get to the obvious high point of the level: The... well, it's hard to call it a story, as it's very surreal. Before it became known that the Great Beast desired sacrifices, killing all those people felt pretty weird. The bandit was A-OK, but the innocent surviviors who got mercilessly smothered by fiery boulders took me by surprise. Needless to say, I got over my initial reaction pretty quickly and wasted no time to enjoy the killing spree. All the little machinations you set up were ingenious, and killing smiling sack people has never brightened my day this much. There aren't really many flaws for me to point out, but I'll try to add at least some constructive criticism. The visible switches and the plain white dissolve blocks looked pretty unfitting. I know it's for the purpose of showing the spots where you need to drag the amgnetic switches so people don't get confused, but I would have hoped for a more creative solution instead of simple white blocks. Another thing is the frequent use of unoriginal characters. It's not too bad since you are definitely creative, but seeing the mexican bandit and Uncle Jalapeno in such an otherwise original creation put me off slightly. Nonetheless, 5 stars from me. | 2009-02-08 15:46:00 Author: Serpit Posts: 68 |
Thanks for all the input! I've actually been wanting to fix a few things in my level... Last week I was finishing up a new level so I was unable to work on In the Belly of the Beast... but now that the level's done, I can go back to my older ones... I've been thinking of a new design to replace the Mexican bandit and Unclue Jalapeno... I guess my major challenge here is to be able to create models that perfectly represent the characters in my mind while keeping them low memory... I'm also planning to place stickers on the dissolve materials... the choice of sticker is a little tricky though, because colors show up different in the color correction I'm using... I've also figured out a way to fix the bug encountered by some players (the disappearing sack people in the acid vats) I'll be doing all this editing this week... hopefully I can finish soon. | 2009-02-09 13:44:00 Author: mostevilmilo Posts: 131 |
I kinda like the bandits, but people are probably right... it is tough to create a good character model that is low on therm. I have tons of gorgeous renditions and etched out mechanical characters, but they take huge chunks of therm :/ I played tower of babel and saw the merry outlaw bandits were there too, and I was kind of expecting them to be in Omaha lol I think it's a funny use of them. Even though I prefer custom creations the most, I would honestly rather a creator use characters from the story than throw in an ugly custom creation of their own. It depends on if the creator can construct a good one, or has enough therm to do so. I'll definitely play it again to see whatever changes you make. | 2009-02-09 14:20:00 Author: Unknown User |
I know how you feel about custom-made objects that never get featured in our levels because they take up too much therm... For my Omaha level I actually created a bunch of good guy soldiers and generals for the bad guys. They're kinda like the Mexican bandit but with more pistons and moving parts. They took up way too much therm... so in the end I had no choice but to use the plastic soldiers for the good guys, and the Grumpy Nutz had to make do without their villainous generals. As for Little Big Tower of Babel, that was my very first creation. Back then I just wanted to make a really fun temple level with lots of booby traps... It didn't really occur to me to use original characters until In the Belly of the Beast. I do want to replace most of the pre-made characters in my old creations, but new ideas for new levels are rushing in pretty quickly, and sometimes it's hard to decide between making a new level and going back to make changes to your old ones... | 2009-02-09 17:23:00 Author: mostevilmilo Posts: 131 |
I loved this level. I will just put down the notes I took as I went through the level. I did think the level was a tiny bit dark in certain places.. Not everywhere though... Maybe add a light or two... I thought the spinning wheels were a bit of a pain.. Your puzzles were fantastic. I liked the multi-step puzzles. When I got to the heart, I was a bit confused, as I remembered the hole in the ground earlier with the magnetic key thing on it, and I was thinking that I was supposed to take the sponge from the heart to it... But I couldn't get it past the switch... So then I figured out it was for the other spot in the heart... You might want to hide that magnetic key so it doesn't make you backtrack.. And maybe make the camera go a little bigger in the heart, so you can see more at one time. I thought the people crusher was fantastic. I did not like the first sacrifice area right after it though. The first time I played it, I went into the pit and dragged the bodies around to make my way across... The second time I played it, some body parts were in there that I couldn't grab (and which trapped my sack so I would have to kill myself in my popit)... So I figured that I had to sacrifice more people over in the sacrifice machine... Which didn't do anything... so I was left hanging that time... And I couldn't get the hole to fill up enough to get across... I was left ending the game there that time... It needs to be more clear I think where you need to kill people to fill up the hole... Or what you are supposed to do. The boss was cool, though I thought the fire logs were coming a little quick... I would be on the lift on the right... And VERY frequently, I would get killed on the lift before I could even get up to the switch... And since everything was made of sponge (which looked great btw) I tended to grab the wrong wall instead of the switch. Even with those game stopping issues, I still hearted the level... It is very cool. | 2009-02-13 16:18:00 Author: dobi6 Posts: 359 |
I loved it! Love the gory parts. It actually looks good! Your the first i've seen to pull it off quite perfectly. One of the best levels out there. Although it looked cool, the part with the sacrifice pits kind of slowed me down. Maybe i just think slow but it took me several minutes to get it. It was because of those notches before the pit, i thought you need to put stuff in it, but didn't see anything happen. | 2009-02-15 06:56:00 Author: uzman Posts: 209 |
Thanks for all the feedback. I've finally done some changes to the level... For one thing, I've improved the look of the boat. Also I replaced the blood with paint splatter. Color-wise, the result doesn't look so much like real blood (you can't turn the paint a darker red, unfortunately, and the color correction I'm using gives it a white glow), but at least it DOES behave more like real blood in the way it spatters over everything, which I think is cool. I also added some score bubbles! I thought the spinning wheels were a bit of a pain.. I've slowed them down a bit now. Yup, hid it. Thanks for pointing that out! This has been adjusted too. It's now much less possible for players to get stuck...You can crunch as many Sack People you want and you won't get stuck. Again, thanks for playing everyone, and thanks for the feedback. | 2009-02-15 11:47:00 Author: mostevilmilo Posts: 131 |
I can tell this is going to be way off-topic at the moment... but your level looks awesome. I'm gonna go try it right now. | 2009-02-15 16:20:00 Author: Bumblebee__ Posts: 65 |
Wow, i loved your level and got second on the scoreboard! My only problem (which is a really small problem) is when you find jonah and he says meet me over to the right, it took me a few minutes where to go. i only figured out because when i fell into the gas i noticed the swinging objects near the roof. Other than that it was an awsome level. | 2009-02-15 17:07:00 Author: sharp357 Posts: 27 |
this level... SIMPLY AMAZING! defo 5 stars | 2009-02-16 09:44:00 Author: talmasca Posts: 196 |
Excellent level! - Superb visuals! The level turning on some areas make it more awesome. The "dark" filter placed in it make more immersive too. - Lots of original ideas. Loved the sacrifice thing, especially the second one! - Lots of puzzle things and switch hunter areas. A bit challenging, but not really difficult. - Nice boss, a bit easy, but creative. - Really cool and original history! Loved the ending haha Liked it a lot! Gave it 5 stars, heart and commented in the game! | 2009-02-17 12:02:00 Author: Unknown User |

I loved the level. Here is my thoughts + Perfect length. It is very fun the whole way through, it never felt repetitive, even though it looks similar the whole way through. + Cool boat in the beginning. + Very funny. There is something to be said about levels that make the player laugh out loud. Crushing every other person in the whale just felt so.....deliciously evil. + Fun, fun , fun + awesome entrance to the creature + nice story twist -Custom characters would've been nice - I almost gave up in the beginning, trying to figure out how to get off the boat. I didn't know I could move the ramp thing F4F: any of my levels in sig | 2009-02-18 08:24:00 Author: cornontheCOD Posts: 150 |
Dude, you are one twisted guy... lol great level, i had tons of fun slaughtering innocents... but that twist at the end was pretty cool. Pros: I loved the way the level turned like the whale was swimming. i almost grabbed my couch to make sure i wasnt falling over... but then i may have been drinking... nice job with those extra characters, the text fit well. the people-compactor room! need i say more? PEOPLE COMPACTOR! the music fit well, the intro area looks amazing, great use of decorations and stickers throughout. Bits of personal issues: it takes a long time to fill up that one pit where you sacrifice the bazillions for a bridge. in the... cave... pit... lung/stomach/cavity where you first find jonah, i found myself grabbing the stalactite/drippy things instead of the swingy bits. not sure how that happened. not a huge issue, as i found it easily enough. I gave you 5 stars on this one, the level is really quite good. props to you, and thanks for creating another quality level to play! | 2009-02-21 17:36:00 Author: TJapan Posts: 225 |
played this level and it was amazing. Honestly, this is probably the best level i've played. I think everything just FIT here. The environment was amazing! The beating heart! The level of detail is outstanding! Veins!? You are great! The story was absolutely top notch. Just as good as something mM would put out. Well thought out adventure that i will revisit just because it was so engaging. I don't know if this level has been spotlghted already, but it definitely should be! i gave it five stars and a heart and i hearted you as a creator. i can't wait to check out your other work! I will recommend this level to everyone i know! If you aren't too busy creating, and want to check out my level, the thread and info are in my signature. Any feedback from you would be greatly appreciated, since this is the type of level i hope to one day be able to create! | 2009-02-21 17:41:00 Author: xThaVIOLENTonEx Posts: 26 |
Ok, i'm now trying your level In the Belly of the Beast (Demonic Dark version  ) I will write here the feedbacks in "real time" Wow, the begin is very cool. Excellent atmosphere, and a good "light effect". Now i must go in this whale! I'm in, the mouth is very wellmade, and i like the transortable candel! Entering in his troath... is very narrow... but i'm in! Aaah!! The whale is going under!! And there is a bandit!! Aaah! Omg i killed him.... ...cool! Oh, there are some switches, that active 2 rolling things. Nice, i like flying around. Ok, now i activated all the switches (but why a whale has switches in her body  ? ) , now i can go ahead. Oh, there is a spinning maze! I go in, and i found a magnetic switch... Oh, i found the key too! Good, the maze is opened and i can go forward. There is a "room" with some doors, and a 3 ways switch taht opens/closes them. Using it, i take the magnetic key and many points. Oh, i'm returned to the spinning things! I go up and i found 3 survivors! Don't worry, i will save you! .... ...No, i killed you Ok, i did 4 victims xD I continue the level... Oh no! The whale is changing direction another time!! Aaah!!... Ok i'm safe. I go down in another p?art of the whale's body, and i found some survivors! They're in a strange place...And i see many grab switches...Ok, i try them. ... ... I killed a lot of people  But i found 3 keys to open the 3 locked doors! Ok, i set them in the right places... I can go forward. Mmm, the beast accepted my sacrifices (a lot of sacrifices xD) and i can pass. Good! I go down... Another survivor! I mus save him... or not? I have 3 switches, and i must choose one... Ok, he's died... But the beast want other sacrifices! Ok, i mus try all the switches! Ok, i killed something like 100 sackboys, but i can continue the level. I have guilty conscience  Oh, i found a little ship in the stomach of the whale! There is the guy that i must save! Oh, man, i killed hundreds of people to save you... There is a switch, i opened something. I go back, and jumping i found a way. I must grab to pieces of whale... I found many prizes! Good! But, this guy is saying strange things  He has POWERS  I go up with his POOOWEERs. And.. OMG, I'm HIS SACRIFICE! Boos TIME! The guy is flyng/dancing ( :hero in the ari and shotting fire balls! He has POWERS! But i saw some switches, i can beat him! Sackboy POWERS! Oh, i crush him between fire blocks. V per Vendetta! I found a way to go out from the whale! Yees! Oh, the Scoreboard!! :hero: Really funny, you made a great level! Good atmosphere, some goods puzzles, and the whale was wellmade, expecially when she moves! Maybe, some puzzles are a little "simple", but i enjoyied the "sacrifices" to the beast. Maybe, ther is to much violence :eek:I killed hundreds of sackboys to save a guy, and then i killed him too. But anyway i liked the story xD Maybe something isn't very credible in the body of a whale, like all taht switches, the maze, and the "sacboy killing machine" (the one with the 3 grab switches, taht emits the 3 "skull keys".). You can add some puzzles like "jumping on the food in whale's stomach" . It can be funny :hero: I enjoyied expecially the last part, Jonah was funny (but evil too! ) . Overall, great level, i think it's better the dark version, cause with the sunlight you lose all the atmosphere 5/5 stars In these days iw ill try your other levels too! | 2009-02-21 21:57:00 Author: Dante95 Posts: 504 |
Thanks for all your reviews and comments. Maybe something isn't very credible in the body of a whale, like all taht switches, the maze, and the "sacboy killing machine" I do agree that it doesn't look so much like a real whale inside, haha... But that really was quite intentional... I wanted the player to think: "Where am I?? Am I inside a whale, a machine, or something else altogether???" I wanted the player's experience to be weird, ethereal, Twilight Zone-ish. it takes a long time to fill up that one pit where you sacrifice the bazillions for a bridge. Yes, I've noticed that too... No one's really complained about it till now, but I guess I was just waiting for the inevitable, haha... Well, I've changed it a bit, and now it doesn't take quite as long as before to make the bridge of sack carcasses. | 2009-02-22 07:28:00 Author: mostevilmilo Posts: 131 |
Yeah, I believe it is called the global settings switch that they haven't yet released? I NEED that, srsly | 2009-02-22 07:48:00 Author: dkjestrup Posts: 672 |
Awesome level! I loved the introduction text - Warning: sack violence, lol. The muted colour correction was perfect, and the use of stitched fabric for the texture of the inside of the whale worked really well. Nicely cut organic shapes, great puzzles and black humour - this is one of the most fun levels I've played. The atmosphere on the ship was perfect. The swell of the ocean and the creaking wood, along with the build quality of the ship, is totally immersive. Maybe I'm evil, but I laughed as I sent countless innocent sack folk to Davy Jones' locker! It's an inspired gameplay element. The twist in the story was great too, an excellent lead up to the boss battle. Five stars and hearted. http://img262.imageshack.us/img262/701/aphoto6.jpg (http://imageshack.us) This is me - clearly enjoying your level. | 2009-02-25 16:50:00 Author: Boogaloo Posts: 254 |
Is it just me, or does this give me flashbacks of Lord Jabu Jabu's belly in LoZ Oot? Looks absolutely awesome! I feel for you with the global settings switch, I hate that too! Will play it when I get my PS3 gets back from repairs. The only part of the trailer I dislike was the pictures of the sackboys in the stomach. Didn't fit the rest imo. I wish I'd played it ages ago, just with that name I thought it would be some gimmick, but the trailer alone proved me wrong! Can you PM me next time you release a level? | 2009-02-26 03:52:00 Author: dkjestrup Posts: 672 |
Thanks for the feedback. Boogaloo, I will return the favor and review one of your levels when I get the chance this weekend. The picture you took is cool btw! XD Maybe I'm evil, but I laughed as I sent countless innocent sack folk to Davy Jones' locker! Hahaha, I was afraid that part of the level would actually anger a lot of people (actually, I think it's done that to some), it's weird but cool how the feedback I've received about it is mostly positive. dkjestrup, I hope your PS3 comes back as good as new! And I do hope you enjoy my level once you get to play it. Aside from Omaha and Little Big Tower of Babel, I have another level called "Tiger Tank Armageddon." This last one I mentioned is less of a true level and more of a "beauty of destruction showcase", however. I actually have three new levels in mind that I am DYING to create (one cutesy and pretty, one mythological, and another World War II-inspired one, ALL of them violent, hahaha), but I really don't have as much time to work on LBP as I used to anymore... still, I'll try churning out at least one level a month. | 2009-02-26 12:41:00 Author: mostevilmilo Posts: 131 |
I hope I get it back soon too! I've got an idea I've been itching to create, that imo is really cool and has sentimental value to me (will be about the Maori discovering New Zealand (the natives) because I live in New Zealand, and I have a lot of cool ideas to implement. | 2009-02-27 04:21:00 Author: dkjestrup Posts: 672 |

Your idea sounds really cool. Most of the time it's the ideas that are most meaningful to us that work out the best. I hope to get to play it one day! | 2009-03-02 13:28:00 Author: mostevilmilo Posts: 131 |
IGN found this level: http://ps3.ign.com/articles/972/972074p1.html | 2009-04-15 00:17:00 Author: dobi6 Posts: 359 |
Congrats on the IGN feature. Played your level and it is great.. It is very funny and nice looking. I really liked when the beast moved around with me inside it, well done. I found the boss to be abit underwhelming though. | 2009-04-16 07:23:00 Author: CarlsenJeppe Posts: 67 |
Wow... This is a great surprise! This is a pretty old level. Didn't think it would ever get featured on IGN... Thanks for telling me. I've been unforgivably inactive the past months (my job + other games have kept me away from LBP)... I'd have never known about the IGN article if you hadn't told me. Thanks again, and thanks for playing. | 2009-04-18 05:05:00 Author: mostevilmilo Posts: 131 |
