I came online this morning to a changed LBP. I quickly noticed a lot of people i know had somehow got the Crown headpiece. A closer look to the community and i realised a lot of people had magically got the crown overnight, im unsure to how this happened but i heard it was related to a store problem last night that happened in the US. I'll be honest it kinda angers me, I thought that the crown was only to be given to exceptional creators or dedicated LBP players. People gloating about it doesn't make the situation better. Shame. I created this thread as a discussion which shouldn't target certain players but just discuss the situation at hand. Tell me what you Think?

I didn't know people get the crown when they didn't deserve it. I'm trying for a crown, but not like what you described about some people. I don't think it's fair at all to get a crown for free. It should be rewarded.

Good question. I really hope it is cause that's the only way to solve the issue. As long as the "crown's" are downloadable in the personal store stuff by those people who got them without rewarded it, the problem will exist. I think this is a big problem but I'm sure @StevenI and the team behind will do their very best to get rid of it. ^_^

I've been reading comments on Steven's profile in LBP2, and they asked about the same issue. One even said that the crowns lost their worth. It's time to come up with a better prize rather than a crown.

It seems the issue arose because the update finally fixed the LBP Karting costume issue(where some costumes were not available for Karting). Now when you get a costume for any one of the games, the costumes for the others are free. However, they blundered on the 'Crown Costume' as they had it for free in the LBP Karting section of the PSN Store - which when you download it, you get the Crown for LBP2 & LBP Vita as well as Karting. I'm sure there should be a way to just delete the crown from anyone who downloaded it from the store as it should have a unique id number. I personally don't think the crown has lost it's value because when you get from MM for any reason, that's the true value(whether it be a crown or a cookie)

A solution? Even though ppl have the crown downloaded, when they try to wear it the game detects have you truly earned the crown. Also the "Royalty" pin should be removed. I hope Mm has a list of the people that have earned it!

I'm glad i addressed the issue, Im clearly not the only one who noticed this. Im happy to hear that action will be taken, I imagine they can just remove all of the false crowns by cancelling all purchases that happened over the time period. Im still worried that people will find a way to trap the DLC in a portable device and keep it there until the patch is done and get it back. Anyhow I'm sure the team is dealing with it.

Just one question. Whats with everyone getting banned for downloading the crown. You could be a 3 or 5 year old and not know what your doing and the next minuet SONY sends the BAN HAMMER your way and your signed out of PSN because you downloaded the crown. It was just either a trap or just another one of their tricks to get people banned unfairly. I feel sorry for the little kids who downloaded the crown and got banned. It's not their fault they don't even know what they are doing. But as for anyone else who had NO idea what they were doing with the crown. Oh God...... I leave LBP for a couple of months and this happens?!!?? Good thing too, cause knowing myself I would've gotten the crown if I saw it on the store (if I were to not have read about it beforehand). But ya, it seems that someone leaves LBP for some time and comes back only to be overwhelmed with bugs and issues..... If you excuse he I need to go take an Advil.....

Perhaps a new crown could be created and given to those who legitimately earned the previous crown. It could be seen as an opportunity to introduce a new cool looking crown (not that the current crown looks bad but it has been around for years now, maybe it's time for a change ^.^). As when they updated the store with the karting costumes. Its a common mistake to make. As for fixing the crown problem there is several options they can do to fix it. 1. Remove the DLC from the store completely and redistribute codes to people whom earned it. 2. Sony Looks at everyone whom bought the Crown off the store within the time-frame and expire the DLC. 3. Wait till next LBP update to fix. For the pin it would be an easy LBP.me update and tweak since sony would have a list of everyone whom bought the dlc in that time-frame and remove said pin from everyone

Sometimes you can't believe everything you read, especially on the internet. I would trust what Steven says above those random comments. If folks were banned, it might be for some other reason completely separate from them downloading a bit of DLC they found. However if you know someone personally that this happened to, please contact Steven and let him know and I am sure he can help sort out exactly what happened, or point you to who at Sony could help.

Usually Sony will tell you why if you ask. I would have to dig it up, but there was an email address you could use to ask why. However based upon what Steven said, I seriously doubt anyone was banned for downloading DLC that just happened to show up in their store. No matter what, that just doesn't make sense for any company... well, maybe the government. lol

They havn't taken any action over other accidental freebies that've occured in the past, a free crown definitly isn't going to cause a mass banning.

Perhaps you could remove all crowns from everyone and give them back to the people who had them before the glitch? Just a suggestion, I know nothing so it's probably a stupid one.

This is why MM/Sony should have some sort of a sever backup feature. In case of any major muck-ups they can just selected a restore point in which the servers will go down for about 3-5 mins. After that. The sever should be back to the point where it was asked to be restored too. As for it being in peoples purchases. Why not add a little tool where Sony can remove stuff from you. I use to play a online game and if something was just not deserved or not worth it anymore. We would just use a command and everything would be fixed.

Don't you feel sick the moment a friend tells you they got their own crown from the store. When i came home from school. Most of my NA friends had a crown. Some were people who made houses. The others fight spam. I just don't feel happy when a friend gets a crown in a non legit way. Remove the DLC from the store completely and redistribute codes to people whom earned it. They could do that but it would take forever to do so. Over 1000 people have a crown. It could take 5-7 months to do

I was actually online as this was happening. I got an 'urgent message from a friend about it, then was invited to a chatroom for anyone who had legitimately earned the crown so we could try to keep it as quiet as possible until Sony fixed the slip. To be honest, anyone who goes around flaunting an illegitimate crown annoys me on many levels. Also, I was actually surprised how few of my friends downloaded it when it was available...
