I've been really looking forward to seeing this film.. and it did not dissapoint, excellent fun.
It's a lot of fun and has a lot of good humour. They have really put the effort in when it comes to pleasing video game fans I think, plenty of nice little references.
They won't please everyone, games fans can be very hard to please these days, but I couldn't fault it personally, brilliant.

Anyone else seen it, planning to see it? Thoughts?

Indeed, global release dates often differ, sometimes by quite a bit. It was certainly worth the wait though.
I hope they make a sequel.

The movie started of with a really nice premise but dropped the ball when Ralph entered Suger Rush. Seriously, nothing about that place was reminiscent of gaming except for the karts and disappearing branches. Even worse was that this area was the main focus of the entire movie. Though I did like the part (SPOILERS AHEAD!)where Ralph teaches Vanellope to drive, but it was ultimately ruined by the cringe worthy implementation of the Rihanna song ''Shut up and Drive''
I appreciate this movie for what it is since we haven't really seen a movie based on video games like this before, but it could have been A LOT better.

Sugar Rush reminded me of Victoria's Lab. Inevitably.

I'd have loved to see a Sackboy reference, even in Game Central Station or something. That'd be awesome.

Same would of loved to see a LBP reference. Hopefully if a sequel or a #2 gets made they will include sackboy or something related in it

Sackboy would have been a nobody when they were going through their process of deciding who they wanted to get the licence for.
Also just about every character cameoing has been in an arcade game at some point.

Well, thanks for spoiling our dreams.

There's also the fact that all the characters and references are from classic games going back at least over a decade. LBP is still relatively new to the scene. But it depends on what the next story involves, if they move away from the arcade to consoles then the chances are of course greatly increased.2013-02-23 09:00:00

Well who knows but if somethings for sure. I'm hoping they move to consoles next. I have this picture in my head of some kid getting the Wreck-It station 4. And the first game he plays is Reck-It-Karting. And one of the things on the screen shows something about LBP. It could be sackboy or something from LBP. Hopefully #2 can came out some day. I would like to also see some people from #1 return. Just my thought.2013-02-23 12:02:00

The thing I loved in this movie was that it didn't dabble in video-games that much. Instead, it was a great story about its characters and that's why I loved it.

Personally, I think this movie was great and one of the best animations in a while (refreshing after watching terrible movies such as Lorax and the new Top Cat). 8/10

I noticed that the head writer of this movie was one of the head writers in Futurama, particularly the "Amazing Stories" episode where Fry wishes that the world were like a video game. I went into it not expecting a Roger Rabbit or Toy Story for video games, but rather something more akin to Futurama. I wasn't disappointed.2013-02-26 18:21:00

I just read that the creators of the movie were considering a sequel, in which they visit console/online games. 2013-02-28 22:00:00

I went into this expecting a heck of a lot more video game visits and a lot less story. I was glad to be wrong on this one. It's not perfect, but especially for Disney as of late, it was nice to see some top knotch animated work. No, I don't count Pixar in Disneys recent credibility, regardless of who owns whom. Although it looks like Pixar had a hand in this one, if I remember correctly receiving some sort of special thanks for invaluable contributions.
Besides the video game references, I also liked the homages to other movies, particularly the Iron Giant in a certain scene, even if their lessons are opposites (choosing who you are vs accepting who you are).
