Sackbot Layer Change - Grrrr

Archive: 2 posts

Hey, I got a logic problem thats driving me insane, if anyone has a suggestion, please do!

Heres the setup -

I've a remote controlled bot, and have a small object (lets call it 'Harry&apos that he can jump on top of, grab and 'ride' in/out and left/right (not a controllinator seat here).

I've got Harry controlled via the R stick, (using the L stick moves the bot as well and he just attempts to run left or right and promptly falls off), and I've set it up so the in/out movement on Harry triggers tag sensors rigged to in/out movers on the bot. It all works in principle, except in my level setup the bot needs to jump on and off, grab a few bubbles or whatever, and then get back on and move onto the next section. However, once the bot has jumped off onto a ledge, grabbed the bubbles and has jumped back on, the next layer change doesnt trigger the bots tag sensor. So you die, jump on again, and all is working fine. Its as if moving a bot from a moveable object, to a stationary one and back again somehow screws with the layer detection, so I'm guessing its a quirk of the layer detection rather than a fault with my logic. Anyone have a clue how i can sort it?

I replying to myself just in case anyone has this problem in the future, plus the solution may work with similar problems where the bots layer changing is an issue. You need to swap over master control so the bot dictates the layer change, and let the grabbed object follow. Big thanks to Just Crusader who worked this one out!2013-02-19 01:54:00
