Sackbarian (http://lbp.me/v/hnwrdc)

This is my second level in LBP1. It is a remake of classic Barbarian on Atari ST, for those like me who have known the late 80's as a teenager. So, I decided I could go with the classic 80's commercial that you could have seen in a micro magazine:

This is a platformer, easy/medium difficulty. The original was so hard it could have been called "Try and Die, and Never See the End", and it would have gone along with it. This is the map of the original I used as a guideline for this level. As you can see, I implemented some changes as I progressed in its creation.

Now go, fellows sackbarians! Explore and kill monsters, and die, and fall, and burn, and... well, enjoy.

This is the very best advertisement, I've ever seen here
Excellent!!!

Played the level:
Yeah!!! That was a great adventure!
I had a lot of fun.
I really like the gameplay and the funny enemys
Some parts are a little bit "underdecorated", but so what?
It's a great adventure trip through a barbaric world.
I enjoyed every minute of it!

Excellent level

Seeing pictures of other players made me realize some of my logics appear in LBP2, while they are invisible in LBP1. Is it something normal? If I fix it in LBP2, will my level still could be played by LBP1 users? That's not a big deal, but I don't like when logics appear, it sort of kills the mood...

Hi Djibees,

congratulations for such a imaginative and exciting adventure-level! Its been amazing how many ideas you've packed in one level, its been really great! Though I have to say that I couldn`t finish your level because I had frustrating difficulties with the stairs which have been leading to the Orb! I've died more than 20 times and then I gave up! Maybe it would have been easier, if one would not be able to fall down on the turning points of the stairs! Nevertheless its been a great experience and a funny entertainment!^^

Thanks a lot and many greetings, Jürgen^^

Oh, yeah, the Evil Stairs of Doom of Evil. Of Death.
I wanted that part tricky, because it is the last "hard part" before the very end, but I guess I should do something about it anyway. Like, reduce speed of the Medusa Heads or add invisible walls to keep off falling, though I don't like using invisible materials too much because... well, because they are invisible and hard to work with.

Edit: I opted for the second solution and added small invisible fences, that should be enough.

Added it to the Queue ! Don't know the original game (And yet, I'm old...), but it looks so great, and I like your presentation thread ! (the idea of the box is marvellous, I think I will take the idea for my Sacklevania levels)2013-02-19 07:29:00

Great level, even if visually (with some exceptions) outdated.
Would be nice to see a new version with better looks and enemies. ^^
The music and the gameplay itself was superb however. (We really enjoyed our time.)

I gave you a heart and a yay for it, since I really liked many of the surprises, traps & ideas.
PS. Was there a way to finish the level without pressing the red button? My friend was a little too quick there. ^^

Danke schön! Yes, the level looks already old, as it is a LBP1 level, and my second attempt as a creator. I'm glad you liked it. Though, I don't consider re-doing it or making a sequel for the moment. Now that I have LBP2, I'd like to try other things for some projects I have in mind. I must go through all these tutorials now!

Come on, it's a RED BUTTON! Why wouldn't you press it?
