Mm Research Group Speculation

Archive: 2 posts

Hey guys, quick note. I simply love to speculate, and I just thought of this, so tell me what you think.

Mm is supposedly divided into three groups at the moment. One group is working on Tearaway, the other is unknown, and the last supposedly had 1 million dollars put into research and development. The unknown group is likely working working on a next-gen IP. They're likely not working on any LBP game because Mm said they were stepping away from LBP, and recent rumors suggest that Sumo Digital is working on LBP3.

Now, without any supporting evidence to give, I'm wildy guessing the research group may be creating some kind of development platform/game engine. This reason I'm guessing this is because Mm likely saw the potential of creation tools they made when they saw what was made within LBP. So perhaps they want to build on that by creating an intuitive game engime that's easy to use but yet yields great oppurtunity, and them sell this engine to other companies; or maybe the engine will be built primarily for future games supported by Sony.

I'm sorry I didn't link sources or anything; I'm on my phone.

I don't think MM is actually making an engine that would be used by other companies. I DO have a suspicion that the PS4 may launch with a MM studio "Engine" a'la LBP that will enable people to make their own games... though that's mostly wistful thinking on my part.

But yeah, don't think MM is the type to make an actual engine for actual game developers.
