LBP Music video - Toys by Frost*
Archive: 80 posts
I got so carried away with the creative power that this awesome game put in my hands that I spent most of November and December putting together a full music video to go with a track by one of my favourite bands. Note by ConfusedCartman: This is a fantastic example of what's possible in LittleBigPlanet. Give it a watch; he's done an amazing job. QBXCYjFX7V4 I should point out at this point that I'm not officially linked to the band at all but I do have their permission to use the music. It's not a playable level. I ran into the limits of the game several times and "performing" it in order to record it took far too many takes(!) but it was great fun and I really learned a lot about the editor. It probably contains rather too many "in" jokes that only fans of the band will "get" properly but I think/hope it contains a smile or two for anyone viewing it. Anyway, there it is....enjoy! | 2009-01-21 23:24:00 Author: waitepb Posts: 13 |

Did you make that level? Jesus Christ dude I think you might be the best LBP Creator out there... | 2009-01-22 04:07:00 Author: Whalio Cappuccino Posts: 5250 |
That was a great music video! What a cool level, too! Nice job. I made a music video, too, for a soul asylum song, but it's not nearly as cool as yours. Great work! | 2009-01-22 04:17:00 Author: xkappax Posts: 2569 |
W. T. F? If you made that level I'll kiss you. Honestly. Is this published!? | 2009-01-22 11:31:00 Author: Unknown User |
Absolutely brilliant work, very well done indeed. I embedded the video for you, would be great to see any future work you do feel free to post it. Cheers QuozL | 2009-01-22 12:12:00 Author: QuozL Posts: 921 |
This looks incredible. Just to clarify, all of the above is one single level? I am disappointed this is not playable, it may have ended up being the best level I ever played lol. Thanks for sharing this video with the community | 2009-01-22 12:21:00 Author: OCK Posts: 1536 |
This is great! You should make a playable version of this, or another playable level of a similar style. | 2009-01-22 14:08:00 Author: Entity Posts: 274 |
THAT WAS EPIC! Brilliant video man! I've been toying around with the idea of making a full fledged music video and that is as good as it gets! Much much better than the quick made music videos we've seen so far, you deserve all the props you're getting for this and then some! | 2009-01-22 18:52:00 Author: KAPBAM Posts: 1348 |
Hi everyone, Wow! Thanks for the great feedback - I'm so pleased it works for you all. @OCK: No, it's not a single level, sadly. It simply wouldn't fit. There are chunks of it that are continuous with the longest being the run from the "e-Go!" catapult to the "Toys2Go" lorry crash. Recording it was a whole heap of hassle cos I kept dying, getting stuck or forgetting to pull expressions etc. Plus the technical hitches of keeping the quality up between PS3 and PC - with no video capture card. I'm most proud of the looking glass/mirror "trick". Fun trying to use two controllers at the same time! I think it might be cool if MM could introduce a mirror material because you could create switch puzzles based on rotating mirrors to reflect light (if they introduced a light-triggered switch!) or in order to read mirror writing etc. Anyway, that's for another thread! Thanks again. | 2009-01-22 22:39:00 Author: waitepb Posts: 13 |

That was really really good. I liked the glass wave I want to know how to make it | 2009-01-31 14:32:00 Author: Defaultsound Posts: 137 |
Thanks everyone. @ 01Philip01: This might not be a "popular" response but I got the song off the purchased CD (iTunes and eMusic have it too). The actual track starts straight-in with the first verse but the special edition of the CD ("Experiments in Mass Appeal") comes with a DVD that contains instrumental versions of the songs so I looped the first few bars from that to make the intro I needed and added some EQ and panning to give that "radio" effect. @ Defaultsound: The glass wave is made up of vertical glass bars with rounded corners attached to vertical stiff pistons which are attached to metal bases. I made one of these (with the glass bar deliberately too thin) and copied it using the grid to get the spacing even. Then I joined all the metal base blocks together by "drawing through them" using the same material. Then I turned the grid off and enlarged all the glass bars at once until they were not quite touching each other. Finally, starting from the left, I set each piston to be delayed by 0.1 sec behind the previous one. Thanks again. | 2009-01-31 16:44:00 Author: waitepb Posts: 13 |

Great work. this is the BEST level i have seen/played and the fact you managed to get it and not screw up must have took you a VERY long time. I hope you make some levels like this and publish them because im dying to try that out. | 2009-02-01 23:25:00 Author: Zommy Posts: 1232 |
the fact you managed to get it and not screw up must have took you a VERY long time.To quote Declan (Frost*'s singer) "it's all done with beer and mirrors"! Every time I go into LBP nowadays I create about 2 or 3 things and then get the "Can't save your profile....delete stuff" message. What I need is a "back-up to memory stick" option, then I could safely put all that hard work "somewhere safe" and consider maybe trying to pull some of the video's elements together into something playable. Of course, I'd also really want the ability to import music into a level (which copyright concerns would naturally prevent, won't it?). | 2009-02-02 00:04:00 Author: waitepb Posts: 13 |
Of course, I'd also really want the ability to import music into a level (which copyright concerns would naturally prevent, won't it?). yes would never happen though lol as much as all of us would love it... but how many attempts does it actually take to get this all done right? | 2009-02-02 00:11:00 Author: Zommy Posts: 1232 |
