Hello everybody,
I want to introduce you my Sacklevania levels, remake of the NES game Castlevania, level by level (3/6 are made for the moment). Rediscover the sinister gothic castle of Count Dracula and help Simon Belmont to destroy evil with its famous whip : Vampire Killer. Many prices to be collected ( all the objects and enemis made in this level can be collected... ), many secrets to be discovered ( ...but they're sometimes well hidden).

I wanted to revisited this game (one of my favourite) with a typical LBP gameplay. I tried to be so respectful as possible for the architecture of the original game.

Your advices, comments and feedbacks are welcome, cause I would like to make a 2.0 version (or finish the serie with episode 4, 5 and 6)

Great level.

It has the charm of the classic nes games, offers funny gameplay and looks really nice .

castlevania 4 was one of the first games i have ever played great levels. really good job. the enemy spawns were a bit strange in lvl 1 but it's not a big deal 2013-02-13 22:08:00

Thanks Luke for your feedback. I will modifiy the spawn of the ennemis. You talk about the Zombies or the Frogman in underground ?

the zombies. the first and the 2nd spawned really fast. like every sec. a new one.

There is so much great things in those levels! You put a great effort in lot of details!

..Yet i'm going to put the fingers on the things that disappointed me a bit!
Like, the fact that instead of using sackbots throwning things (like the skeleton in part 3), some ennemies are just sackbots with a helmet. I could understand such a choice for the player, because it allows multiplayer, but for monsters...
The other thing, is when you get your feet stuck between two stairs and fall a whole floor because of that! It happens in part I and II, but i didn't experienced it after, so i guess it's a real case of "going better and better level".
Transitions between levels with the castle map are so great I'd really enjoy to see a map on a wall in a next section!

I'm agree with you. Sacklevania levels are becoming a little bit outdated, and I am a little better now, so I will modify this ennemies (and two or three other things...). Concerning the stairs....rahhh...I hate them ! Climb a stair in LBP is always boring, even a living hell , and Castlevania is full of it. So I need a way to improve it, but I'm still searching for it...

I have one feedback for you, about one thing I stumbled across while making my Sackbarian level: it seems you're using a lot of squares of materials to render the "pixel" look of the level. Floors, walls, are all made of multiple objects. This is extremely thermo-heating. I had to deal it myself (and coincidentally, it was in the "Castlevania lookalike" part), and I figured that a single big block of material with a squared (homemade) sticker repeated on it would give the same look.

Very good idea, I had never thought about that. I'll try it as soon as possible (the thermo is actually a problem in Sackelvania levels)

Yay, that felt really near to the original, liked the style and music very much and the idea about using the chain as weapon was pretty cool and made fun.
The only weak part in my opinion were some of the enemys looking like made in lbp1. It would look much better to get a stickerpanel or hologram and have a little animation on it.

But overall, great Level.

Edit: oh one thing I forgot. The introscenes started all over again after every playerspawn. That would be ok for alone i guess. But it was kind of anoying to watch it 4 times in multiplayermode.

Thanks for your compliments. I'm agree with you about the look of the enemys, i'll try to make something better soon. You're a discerning people : Sacklevania was a LBP 1 level.

Nice level. good level design with good use of decoration. A well done rendition of the classic. Although it would have been even better if you didn't use sackboy and used perhaps an animated character or something, but i still thought is was a great level. Bien joue! je vais jouer le rest de tes niveaux bientot.

thanks Fitzchilvary for your compliment. I made the choice to use Sackboy cause I wanted to keep a typical LBP gameplay, and there are already a lot of castlevania levels with sackbots or sprites. I wanted to make something different.
