Jungle jumps

Archive: 10 posts

Here is a very fun grapple survival which I made. This was my second level I ever created and I reckon a lot of people like it! (Only six XD) but because I'm new that's about the only number of plays I have. You need to try to get your balance on the first challenge and swing for the next the 3rd challenge is platforms and using the grapple hook so it can be tough! Try and see if you can beat my high score!

This was great fun but far too short. You could turn this into a massive grappling extravaganza with a bit of thought.

One other thing - think decoration! As it's a jungle theme a load of jungle stickers and decorations would have really helped set the mood.

I've left you the following comment;

"It takes time to make good levels and also helping people, if you have a problem. But it will ultimately depend on you. If you have fun at creating, ask yourself, what vision you want to share and strife for the best result. Good luck & have fun!"

I didn't give you a "yay" for it. Usually I do. Most times because they deserve it (don't matter if I liked the level or not, as long as it was well made or enough heart in it) and sometimes out of kindness. So why didn't I "yay" you? It's simple; because I believe, that you can do much better than this.

For example;
If you fell into the water - you don't die - you have to do it yourself, since there was no way out.
The cameras didn't show where to go. At times you had to jump and grab blindly.
There was no such thing as variety - not gameplaywise not artistically - and also no story or other funny elements.

I believe you had a vision while making it, and that this should remind us of a "Jungle".
But to be honest - it didn't. I saw no beautifully crafted trees, no animals...
There wasn't even soundeffects which could suggest that this was a lively place.

Many people would be quiet about it, or see the pictures and not even play it.
But we all started somewhere, and depending on your age, the time you invest and the talent or knowledge you have,
the vision can be more or less accurate and astounding.
Did you play the story-levels? Did you play other high-rated levels?
It's important to have a rich variety of stickers and materials and there is also much to learn from it.
Ask for help, if needed, find a sackfriend with whom you can spend time with,
and make good use of the tutorials provided here. I'm sure you have wonderful ideas.

All the best to you,
Lumina

Well I got done playing your level and here is my feedback.

The first thing I thought coming into your level was that this wasn't jungle at all and what made me think that was the first sight of cardboard. If you make a level based off of the title make sure to add things into the level that creates that jungle atmosphere like Lumina said some animals, and things like that. I could see a few things you could of done to turn it into a jungle. Instead of having your ropes hang from the top of ceiling it of could been branches instead so you could swing from branch to branch. Also changing the cardboard to something more jungle like.

Also as for the water goes, you allow the player to be able to hit the water without dying but they have no way out? Make it so the water at least kills the player instead of him being stuck down there causing them to pop. Next thing was choppy look to the floors once you go through the tubes the ground had all kinds of dashes in it. The best way to avoid things like that is to use Grid mode, so it keeps everything straight and doesn't allow you to mess up how your designing.

Last 2 things is layer management and checkpoints. In the future, I think it's best to avoid using 3 layers cause it causes and empty open look to it and if you don't got anything filling in that space it just looks off and nobody wants that. As for checkpoints go, if you put sort of a challenge ahead try and make it fair to the players by adding a infinite checkpoint cause if they lose all there lives in that one spot there more likely to not replay the level.

I hope you don't take any of this the wrong way, this is just trying to help you make better levels in the future and make sure it matches the title at least. I'm sure you can do it if you put your mind to it
