Dead-Man's Switch!
Archive: 2 posts
Hello! It's been a while, huh? I've been off LBP for a while. I know right? I'm sorry. But, it's like I can breathe again... Anyways, new Tutorial! Yay! Are you excited? I know I am. Ok, here's my idea: Dead-Man's Switch. It's a very simple... Ah... Logic piece. It was originally developed for "negotiation" purposes. Mostly "I get what I want, if you kill me, you die." It revolves around the technology of button-pressing. But grabbing works best for LBP in my opinion. The basic theory of it is this: Imagine yourself in a negotiation with a crazy murderer. You want protection, right? Oh, but those Bullet-Proof vests don't breathe well... So, you wired explosives all around the area, in strategic locations, ensuring the murderer won't escape. Then, you hold up a signal transmitter with a button. You press the button and hold it down. This is sending of half of a signal, but the explosives want all of the signal. This is also telling the murderer, if you die, he basically digs his own grave. Because if he kills you, your finger will come off the button, sending off the rest of the signal, and setting off the 'slodeys. Good? Good. It's so simple, I needed all this text in order to not have a 5-second long tutorial. First, get a microchip. As always. Place down any Sensor (Button's, Grab, Player, Etc.), a NOT gate, a Counter, a Tag and an OR gate. All on the microchip. Unless there is a physical sensor. Note, it CANNOT be a 2-way switch. 3-way works. Wire the sensor into the OR gate and the NOT gate. Wire the NOT gate into the OR gate, and then the OR gate into the Counter. The Counter will go into the Tag. Set the Counter to 3. Now, un-pause if you were not already. The NOT gate will send a signal and put 1 count into the Counter. Don't mind it, we need 2 counts open, the Counter is set to 3 so the first count the NOT gate gives won't matter. Now if you activate the "switch" and hold it, it will send a signal to the OR gate, which puts one more count into the Counter. It will also DE-activate the NOT gate. Now let go. The OR gate is turned off, and the NOT gate is turned back on, putting the last count in there, and activating the tag! See? Magic. Anything you want to set off with this (BOMBSSSSSSSS), just put the corresponding Tag SENSOR on the object. I suggest setting the SENSOR to 5000.0 radius. Hope you enjoyed, bye! | 2013-02-07 16:57:00 Author: Unknown User |
just place a 3 port selector, wire 3rd output to second input, wire your button to port 3 and wire the 2nd output to your tag. you could also wire the 2nd output to 1st input if you just want a one frame pulse every time you release the button | 2013-02-08 09:48:00 Author: evret Posts: 612 |
