'Snake' Style Game: Moving on a grid.

Archive: 4 posts

Hey I have an idea for a snake style game, and I was wondering if anyone had any simple ways for grid based movement.

I have something put together right now, but it's less than ideal (and keeps glitching out for reasons, I don't seem to understand.)
Currently I have it set so that you have to be over a certain tag, and have pressed an arrow key, when you move over said tag, an AND sensor senses that you're over the tag, and also have a direction pressed, activates a spot on a selector, which activates a directional mover set to what ever direction you pressed.
(Each square of the grid has said tag in the middle of it.)

This keeps you 'on the grid', but currently my logic also lets you turn around (while going left, you can just press right, and bam, you're going right, right into your tail that is )

And also for some reason every now and then my logic will fudge up, and get stuck on a specific direction, for reasons I cannot entirely comprehend.

So like I said at the start of this post... Does anyone have any ideals?

Please and thank you!

(I'm sure I can eventually figure it out on my own, I just figured I'd ask here, to see if anyone had any ideas. )

Hi LukeCF !
I have never tried doing anything like this, but I found a nice tutorial which seems to work pretty great ! Here's the link : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gCDsiX1K68k
I think you could do this Snake game with some selectors (for the direction) and memorizers (to know what was the last movement/position on the grid...). Good Luck !

Hmmmm, I'm not 100% sure if that will work with what I'm doing exactly, but definitely worth a shot

Honestly It's kind of similar to how I have mine set up, just not as complicated.
