I'm getting to the point where I'm watching the same TV shows over and over instead of discovering new ones. I currently like and own seasons for:

Arrested Development
Community (Might make some levels based on it)
The Office
Parks & Recreation
House
Veronica Mars
Breaking Bad
30 Rock
possibly some other shows I'm forgetting

I'm also really into Conan (might do a level)
One Piece
Avatar/Legend of Korra

I'm currently starting Dr. Who just so I can get all the Inspector Spacetime jokes on Community.

Great list! All my comedy is 30 Rock, Community, Office, Parks & Rec.

Put Mad Men (AMC) on your list. Every single hour is fantastic. Hits just the right balance of serious and melodrama. And then there are a slew of great HBO shows, if you can get them.

Like you I watch Arrested Development over and over and over. Gearing up for another run of all 3 seasons (I tend to watch about 4-5 episodes every night, when I start watching any of it) in anticipation of the Netflix season coming this spring.

I like to watch Ghibli animations over and over, too. I have the complete library and get into a nightly thing, watching the same movie every night for sometimes weeks and weeks, falling asleep to it halfway. It's like soothing white noise. I've liked what I've seen of Big Bang Theory and How I Met Your Mother, but all the one-liners have made me less inclined to actually watch them in order. I might give Mad Men another shot. I only saw a season 4 episode without any story context.

@arbiekko - is Ghibli the studio behind Totoro and Spirited Away? If so, I've been wanting to watch those movies. Very imaginative. I'm gonna activate the free month of Netflix on my PS3 the same month Arrested Development comes out. All the episodes are gonna get released at once!		2013-02-03 04:31:00

My favorites right now are Sherlock and Game of Thrones, whose third seasons are taking their sweet time to arrive. Boardwalk Empire, Breaking Bad and Mad Men are also great.

The Walking Dead became really boring from the middle of the first season (when they started to deviate from the story of the comics) but really recovered in the latter episodes of the second. I used to watch Fringe, but I haven't since its third season or so. Recently I have started to watch Doctor Who and it seems to deserve the cult following it has acquired.

In terms of comedy shows, I like How I Met Your Mother. It never achieved the greatness of the first seasons of Friends, but it also hasn't lost quality as Friends did in its latter seasons. Big Bang Theory has really gone downhill since the first two or three seasons but I still watch it, I don't really know why.

In the genre of animation, I liked The Last Airbender and Legend of Korra way more than I thought I would. The only japanese anime I can stand is Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood.

"Adventure Time", "Regular Show", "The Legend of Korra", "Gravity Falls", and "Young Justice" (why, Cartoon Network, why), are my favorite current cartoons. "The Looney Tunes Show", "The Amazing World of Gumball", the CGI adaption of "TMNT", "Phineas and Ferb", and "Transformers: Prime" are good current cartoons to watch, too. "Motorcity", "Tron: Uprising", "Sym-Bionic Titan" and "Thundercats (2011)" should have get season 2 instead of getting canceled, but the legacy of these great quality action cartoons live on. At least both Titan and Cats are on Toonami, and Cats amazingly get a million views in some episodes for an 1am eastern time slot. "Avatar: The Last Airbender", "Transformers: Generation One", "Looney Tunes", "Darkwing Duck", "Batman: The Animated Series", "Gurren Lagann", "Oban Star Racers", and "Beast Wars" are my favorite classic cartoons/anime, while "Pokemon", "Digimon", "Yugioh", "Spongebob Squarepants" and "The Simpsons" are the shows I wouldn't mind watching newer ones, but I prefer the earlier ones.

As in comedy shows, "The Middle" "Modern Family", "Last Man Standing", and "The Big Bang Theory" are the current best ones. "Everybody Loves Raymond", "Home Improvement", "Seinfeld", and "Friends" are the great classic comedies, too.

I don't watch drama shows that often, but the best one I can think of is "Heroes".		2013-02-03 17:34:00

Netflix just blew me away this weekend with its House of Cards series (also all released at once) starring Kevin Spacey. Not a consistently amazing experience but nicely mature (as in dramatically mature), interesting and the first two episodes are basically a miniseries or a movie, directed by David Fincher. I hardly watch any dramatic shows, mostly comedy... i seriously tried watching house but its just not my type of thing... same with dexter and some others... but i enjoyed The Sopranos alot and Twin Peaks + The Wire wasnt that bad and i liked Breaking Bad for a while... (HBO got some amazing shows)

I like most of those cheesy us comedy shows, which got mentioned here alot allready... but somehow they just got alot of heart and are very enjoyable to watch, allthough they got a reputation for beeing a bit dumb... shows like Big Bang Theory, Two and a half men, the 70's Show, Friends, King of Queens, How i met your Mother, Family matters, Full House, Malcom in the Middle, Prince of Belair, The Wonder Years, Raymond etc. etc. there are alot of them... watching those shows just makes/made me feel good. Really liked Scrubs alot, it has a great "Soundtrack". Seinfelds pretty cool too. There are some UK Shows which are quite fun, but english-uk humor is probably overhyped... i saw some shows and they often repeated themselves with some jokes and plots, but still great tho. Some of the comedy shows i mentioned above, are very moraly and ethnicly orientated... a good example would be "Full House", this Show is so "nice", it would probably bore me to death to watch it now... but those shows were great as a kid, as they teached u somehow, to be a better person.

Im a major fan of animated comedy series... The Simpsons are a classic ofc, but tbh, i find it rather sad to watch now... newer episodes got no plot at all anymore and are basically one joke after another, and rarely anyone is ever good... it lost all its charme from back in the days... but its still pretty much the grandfather of all modern animated comedy shows. Futurama is still good tho. Love Family Guy + Sideshows, cant wait for the movie. Even like King of the Hill and ofc Beavis and Butthead. What Humor belongs i rarely have any limits, thats why i liked shows like Drawn together and especially The Wonder Showzen (quite extreme humor ^^) too. Allways keeping my eyes for other good quality animated comedy shows... but i dont like kids cartoon too much, i rather enjoy something with more adult appealing content.. allthough Ren and Stimpy is great... (well they made the lost episodes, which is for adults only) and things like spongesbob is silly but just fun. [The Life and Times of Tim is quite fun too, very simple animation but quite good humor = adult]

My favourite Show of all time by faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaar must be Southpark.... im addicted to it... pretty much must have watched every episode over 10 times now... i can watch it over and over and over... it got so much personality, great humor, its made with alot of love and detail and its atleast somehow intelligent with its social criticism and its very relevant with its episodes on whats happening in the (us)society and world. It keeps the balance between silly vulgar or violent humor and still is in one or another way rather intelligent)

Well, i rarely ever wanna discuss or argue about wether a show is good or not, this is a very personal thing... there are some shows outthere which gets extremely hyped and watched which i cant understand at all, for some shows u would have to pay me to watch it, but it doesnt make any sense to get into an argument, if some shows good or sucks... its very personal, especially what comedy belongs.

Anyways, some great shows which got mentioned here... some are new to me, and i will look into some of them.

By the killing III, do you mean the third season they're about to start up? While I'm glad the show is getting support, I feel mixed about it continuing considering how perfectly it ended imo with the final moments of season 2.

I agree with you on Arrested Development. I watched the first few episodes, and while there were some funny parts to it, it didn't feel nearly as masterful as everyone had made it out to be. As for Doctor Who, there was the original show which started back in the 60s (before Star Trek even) and got cancelled in the 90s I believe. The show was then brought back early 2000s, and has been going strong ever since. It's a good show, even if some seasons can follow a hit- or-miss trend due to varying themes/plots and a multitude of writers. (As well as a few guest writers) I'd start by watching the first season of the "new" show that started in the early 2000s. Watching the old series isn't really necessary since they summarize the important stuff quite clearly. It's a fun sci- fi show with some brilliant episodes here, and some mediocre ones there. Still worth watching. As for sitcoms, you might want to try out Frasier.

Another show I'd recommend would be Harper 's Island. Great little mystery show, and just one season.		2013-02-05 03:27:00

I'll probably watch Black Mirror next week. I saw 2/3 of the first lot. Missed the 2nd one but might try to catch up on 4od before next week.

I'd start by watching the first season of the "new" show that started in the early 2000s. Watching the old series isn't really necessary since they summarize the important stuff quite clearly.

Ye, might give the new show a try, as im kinda turned off by too old tv shows lol, i wanted to watch The Twilight Zone but never really did. Theres a remake of that one too i think, but not as good.. i dunno.

Yeah, I saw Dead Set when it was on TV. The first Black Mirror episode was a bit meh, but I quite enjoyed the 3rd one. I have indeed heard that the 2nd is the best, will make sure to give it a watch.

Did you watch The Fades when that was on (starring Daniel Kaluuya, who was also in Black Mirror, coincidently)? I quite enjoyed that, it was a shame that it was canned by BBC 3, no doubt to make room for more series of crap like 'Snog, Marry, Avoid' and Don't Tell the Bride.

We rarely get decent concept dramas in the UK, our TV is full of reality tripe and period drama blandness, so it's disappointing when a good one comes along and they don't even give it a proper chance.		2013-02-05 21:50:00

I liked the first season of The Killing (US) and only realized the critics absolutely hated it to death after the season ended and I read some blogs. Was surprised by the anger. I thought it was fun and twisty with interesting characters. The second season didn't appeal, somehow, so I quit after a few episodes and eventually came across a blog after the season ended and spoiled the whodunnit. Oh well. I remember looking up the Danish original series but didn't get very far there either. It felt... smarter than I could handle? I wasn't ready for the politics of it, and it was surprisingly different from the US version which I thought I would like, but instead I just didn't anchor onto anything.

Dead Set and Black Mirror are both fantastic, Charlie Brooker has the midas touch and I love to watch the things he's involved in.		2013-02-06 05:21:00

Yea, Fades was cancelled not long after it's "first" season finished. Speaking of cancellations, Being Human is to end after this season.

Peep Show and IT Crowd are good. IT Crowd has a kind of "guilty pleasure" quality about it, and Richard Ayoade can make you laugh with just a blank face.		2013-02-07 12:38:00

Blackadder could quite possibly be my favourite show of all time and each series is better than the last in my opinion, I'd suggest giving Black Books a watch next, it too couples the caustic, bitter man with the unintelligent affiliate and that's always been my favourite thing about the two shows, the way the two (or sometimes three) completely dissimilar characters interact with each other.

I like American Dad too, it often relies on being zany but the jokes are very well executed.		2013-02-10 17:21:00

Arrested Development has to be the top T.V show for me... "There's always money... IN THE BANANA STAND!"
But I also like to watch suggestions like Modern Family, 30 Rock, Parks and Recreation, Community, and the odd Greys Anatomy.

It's a shame so many good shows have ended/are ending. Spartacus finished at the weekend with an epic finale, other series should take note on how to end in a satisfying manner. Breaking Bad and Dexter will be over before Christmas... there'll only be a few shows left worth watching.

I've been watching Parks & Recreation on BBC 4 (a few episodes into season 2), they're showing 2 episodes every Wednesday. A nice show to lighten the mood, with some great laugh out loud moments. A great moment from one of last weeks episodes (the one with the KAPOW thing) was when Ron says "What the KA****** where you thinking?!". The timing and delivery of the line was excellent.

Watched the first episode of The Americans last night, which seems like it could be a good show, but other than that all I have is:

ah dudes! your all missing out! anything by bryan fuller is pure genius yet none of you appear to have watched it! as quick synopsis', wonderfalls is about a girl working in niagra falls gift shop and several items in the shop persuade her to do good,dead like me is a show about a group of grim reapers (hilarious, like seriously the funniest I've ever watched) and pushing daisies features a man who bakes pie and wakes the dead. most recently, he's written a show called 'hannibal' on NBC which is airing currently in america to great reviews (can't wait 'till the uk pilot goes up online which sounds worth a shot if you're looking for something dexter-ish (but it's bryan fuller so it'll be better)

other then those, I can't stop by without recommending life on mars/ashes to ashes (UK originals) great dramas with one of the best finales ever (every season tops the last in terms of finales) and the final episode is a real tear jerker.

finally carnivale is fantastic, just finished it last night. the first season is a bit all over the place in terms of quality but season 2 hits its stride early and just blows your mind every episode from there on out. its a classic good vs evil story set in the great depression, with issues of religon, morals, fate and mortality... it's a bit twisted though so I wouldn't recomend it to people easily disturbed		2013-04-17 17:05:00

Well, I just finished watching Gravity Falls and to say it's "good for a kid's show" is a massive understatement. It's one of the funniest cartoons currently on air (surpassing almost everything on FOX), and I'm surprised Disney of all networks picked it up. There's a great sense of continuity in the series and the characters are all incredibly fleshed out. Also worth mentioning is how sharp the writing is, and how Schaal absolutely nails her role in this show. Tons of love is being put into this show, and the result is one of the most entertaining and genuinely charming shows in a long time. Hopefully Disney realizes that they have a gem of a show and promote this over whatever the hell Dog with a Blog is.

Also Mabel is the best character since ever.

I love Community! I'm still on season 3, but it's already one of my favorite comedy shows (right after Parks & Recreation, which I cannot praise enough). Is Sense8 worth watching?

I hate to admit it, but I've been caught up in Once Upon A Time for the past few days. The plot isn't quite up to par with, say, Game of Thrones' plot, and the actors aren't nearly as good, but it still feels great to come home after a long day at work and watch a bit of light-hearted fantasy (as opposed to the violence/sex/violence-during-sex-filled world of GoT). Plus, Once Upon A Time is one of the very few TV shows with a reasonably wide range of actors from different backgrounds and with different accents, from England to Australia, including New York, Chicago, Ireland and Scotland, and I think it sounds incredibly charming.		2015-10-15 18:22:00

Sense8 isn't bad. Similar to what you mentioned about OUAT, there's a rance of different accents, and different locals around the world.... though everyone speaks English which is a bit odd. Perhaps because the producers thought having subtitles covering a number of different languages would be hard on the viewer. A lot of folk struggle with shows with one non-English language!

And yeah, Parks and Rec is great. A real feel good comedy.

EDIT: BTW, if you have Netflix, you should try Wet Hot American Summer (watch the movie first, then the TV show). It's a bit daft and "out there", but it's good fun.		2015-10-16 14:48:00

Community seasons 1-3 and 6 are some of the best of any sitcoms ever made. Also, I discovered my new favourite show, Buffy the Vampire Slayer as well as my favourite spin-off, Angel.

Also, the one truly great cartoon I have watched this millenia, Steven Universe. Adventure Time + other modern cartoons pale in comparison to that masterpiece. And it's only in its second season! Briefly, it starts with an episode about a boy trying to learn to control magical powers through ice cream. Episode 67 is gruesome body horror, with episodes from 69 onwards are part of a foreshadowed apocalyptic plot when one of the monsters from episode 67 threatens to rip apart the planet to "hatch".

And it all fits.

But seriously, though. Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Community and Steven Universe. Heavily suggest checking them out.		2015-10-16 23:16:00

I haven't seen Community season 6 yet, waiting for it to come to Netflix. I did use to watch a bit of Angel back in the day, but then I just stopped for no reason in particular.

I've just started Narcos which is pretty good. Also, The Walking Dead, The Leftovers and Fargo have all returned in good form...... same can't be said for Homeland.		2015-10-20 10:20:00
