Laser Pointer?

Archive: 4 posts

I want to make a remote controlled sniper arena type game where it'll pit multiple players against each other in a deathmatch side scrolling style. What I have in mind is to have the player able to run around with the left joystick and the right joystick will allow them to rotate their aim. In order to know where they're aiming towards I'd like to make a laser pointer that shows a red circle on any surface that it touches. Basically it'll just go on forever till it hits something. I think this would be an awesome idea, but I'm just lost on how I would begin to create something like that. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance!

Ok this should be pretty easy:
First set up your aiming system with a rotatable stickerplate. For rotation use the joystick-rotator. Make it follow your Sackboy.
Now you place a emitter on this aiming plate. This should constantly emit the following Object. (You could use a "inverter-pulser")

Now you make a Stickerpanel with the size of your targetpoint.
You have to place two things on it:
-A ball of light
-A microchip, containing the following:
---A advanced Mover, moving it to the right direction with a speed of hundret. (This moves the object to a wall incredibly fast, in less than one frame)
---A impact-sensor to detect the wall. If the wall it should prevent the mover from further moving and activating the light)

This should do it. THink of turning down the oppacity of the stickerpanel and good luck

Nice! I think I see what you mean. I'll try it out later. Thanks TheBa2ti. Now what if I want to have like a straight red line attached to it. Could I just use a straight string and color it red that's attached to the emitted objects?2013-01-29 21:05:00

The problem would be that you have to be able to change the Stringlength manually.
Try using the Spotlight decoration. This should work for the beginning.
