The Long Lost Lights of Spectrum Caverns

Archive: 9 posts

Hey Sackfolk! Recently I published my new level called "The Long Lost Lights of Spectrum Caverns". This is the sequel to my previous level called "The Journey Through Spectrum Caverns".

'While you travel deeper and deeper through Spectrum Caverns you stumble across more and more peculiar machinery. No, the journey is not over yet...'

This time i tried involving more gameplay combined with some puzzly stuff. It's quite a dark level, but I think it helps creating some atmosphere...

Here are some pictures to give you some idea of what it looks like:

The first time I played this I didn't enjoy this that much, but when I looked at it with fresher eyes (which were much less tired) I found myself enjoying this a lot more. The puzzles and contraptions were clever, and I had fun. My complaints were that the colours weren't as distinct as they could have been for the mixing puzzle and the darkness made the platforming annoying the first time around. I also thought that the visuals were bland, but the lighting and contraptions looked nice so I guess it's alright.

Overall the level was pretty good. It wasn't as hand holdy as the first in the series and it was a lot more fun. Good work!

Thanks Bonner.

I made the level this dark because I think it adds something to the atmosphere...
And yeah, I know some places aren't that decorated, but that's because of the number of corners (mostly due too the gears...) in that area...
The thermometer is at hit top so I wasn't able to add really much other things in it. This is also the reason for it being not that long just like part one.
The colours in the mixing puzzle... Yeah some of them aren's that distinct from each other as I hoped. I tried altering them a few times, but each time they ended up being a whole other colour than intended...

I hope this clears some things up for you and I hope you still enjoyed the level

Thanks for playing and the response!
It always helps me making things better...

Hey CuriousSack!

Thank you for your awesome review on my level!
If you liked the music, I give the songs I used in this level, the previous part (The Journey Through Spectrum Caverns) and some other songs I made away in my Music Gallery (you can find it on my earth).

Amazing level. The visuals looked spectacular thanks to brilliant lighting. It's not just the lighting, but it's also the color-changing puzzles that made the level even more fun. Excellent job on this level.
PROS:
+Neat visuals
+Lighting
+Platforming contraptions
+Color-based puzzles
CONS:
-Sometimes I get shocked by rotating platforms
OVERALL: A yay and heart

I know the plasma isn't really in the same taste as the rest of the level. I wish I could swap i all for some nice crystals with spikes... :/ but the level is overheating, so... The plasma at the rotating platforms is need to prevent the player from shooting out when two pieces are smashing together.

Thanks for your review
