A shooter game i need help with.

So i'm working on a shooter game, which i'm probably going to base on a stopmotion movie of a friend of me (also, i'm voicing for it! And i'm in the trailer with the voicing):

So far i have a small thing explaining how the game works, a controlinator, health and ammo bars, gun and so on.

There you can see a few things. Don't worry, the bars work fine. They're just empty right here (i have all health, and no ammo since i shot up a bunch of things)

But: there's a few problems. After you get out of the building that you can see in the first pic, you get on to this street in a forest. The bars, and some notes that say "reload", "ammo" and so on are behind the trees.

Then there's another problem:

This laser thingy. It goes through walls. I put it on the gun (it's toggleable by the way) so that you can see where you're pointing your gun at (nothing more irritating than getting shot by an alien machine gun because you can't aim right, right?). But it's not supposed to go through walls. Is there anything i can do about it?

And, am i able to make Sackboy get into a controlinator using logic and such? Or should i keep the "press triangle button to play the game" screen at the beginning?

And, i'm kind of bad at movies, but i do want to make one for the game. Any help or tips?

Hi Wouter,

Your stopmotion video is quite good, nice work !
About your problem with the bar, I suppose that they are stuck to invisible matter, right ? Try to change its settings, particularly the position in the plane. Set it to a number higher than the one defined for your trees. I'm maybe wrong, but all I do here is guessing. I must say that your screenshots are a bit too dark that I cant see a lot of things beside the bars.

Then, a controlinator can automatically grab a Sackboy if he is within its reach, check the settings for more info. So, no need for the triangle button.

Finally, I can't help you with the laser, sorry

Thanks for the help! First off, it's not my stopmotion video, but from a friend (my stopmotions are on WoutStopmotion). Well, i tried doing some stuff with the trees, i just made the decorations on it smaller. I think something went wrong when i was trying to do that. Also, changing the planes won't help, since it won't make the invisible material get far enough to pass the tree. As well, sorry for the screenshots, dark stuff is hard to make good screenshots of in LBPV.

Yes, i know i can make the "controllinator grab sackboy", but i also want a menu and stuff like that. I don't want Sackboy to get into there immediatly, only when touching a block that says "start" or something like it. And i want to show everyone how the game works before starting. So i'd need to do that by button, but i can't get it to work yet.

Oh, if you use decorations, I don't know how to handle this. But, if it is two objects (so not decorations) that are on the same plane, changing the order of visibility (what I meant by "position in the plane" can give you the resultat you want, can't it ?

Wouter for your other problem, it's fairly simple. Have sackboy on some sort of material above the sackbot you want him to enter. Set the Sackbot to "automatically enter" When the player presses "Begin" or "Start" or what ever on your menu, have the material sackboy is standing on destroyed/dissolved so that he 'falls' into the sackbot, automatically entering it.

Does that make sense?
