Blade Runner movie (with prizes)

Archive: 21 posts

http://vita.lbp.me/v/b149m

well...after 3 months i am finally finished!! after i published my short matrix movie on LBP2 last may, spidermcquire suggested a blade runner remake as my next project. i never got round to it because i wanted to work on something else. for those who are not aware, blade runner is a popular sci-fi movie starring harrison ford.

the project took a bit longer than i anticipated. mainly because there were a few bugs. things just stopped working for no reason what so ever. in some case's i had to start again.

i have recreated the opening scenes from the movie and reinvented it a little. also created a menu in which you can either choose to watch the film or go to the extra's section first and collect the prizes. the prizes are the blade runner logo, a sci-fi style font and 3 hovercraft vehicles with notes on controls and logic tutorials on how i made them. each one works and you can use them in your own levels :-)

ive added some picturs for your viewing pleasure

Great stuff. The cityscape is perfect as are the close up location scenes with all the beautiful neon signs and adverts. Was a little weird going from the realistic silhouette characters to sackbots but the sackbot scenes worked well. Sackbots do dream of electric sheep I guess. 2013-01-27 01:16:00

well i was planning on doing the whole film in that style but it was time consuming and even though i was in no rush to complete it, i also didn't want to make it even longer lol.

Hi, wolfy_616.

I really love you level. You created very cool remake of first Blade Runner movie part.

Great intro with amazing decorations and design, it has very good atmospheric of original. Very nice work with camera and lightings. Will wait for continue.

thank you for playing man and putting it on youtube. it's a shame the level only has 30 plays....and will probably go un-noticed lol. but as long as you guys like it then its all good :-)

i wasn't going to work on anything else for a while but i've already started on my next project lol

As I already reviewed your level on LBP, here is it, fresh-pasted from vita.lbp.me :

Oh boy, I have no words to describe what I just saw. It is just wonderful, no wonder you spent a long time building this. Brilliant visuals, excellent music work, the scene with the silhouettes is magic, same for the one with the sackbots. Good Lord, why does this level have only 20 plays ? The world is cruel and unfair.

Maybe you could try to repost it. There's a part of random in the amount of attention a level gets paid with. It's all in publishing it at the right time. If you do so, you can count on my YAY and a heart.

i wasn't going to work on anything else for a while but i've already started on my next project lol

See you in 3 months ? It's awful how that game can be time-eating...

you mean delete the level and publish it again? i've never done that before. what would be the right time? i'm not too fussed about plays to be honest BUT it is disheartening when you spend 3months on something to only get 30 plays in two days and then you look on the cool pages and see stuff that makes you wonder " how on earth did that get here " lol

would just be nice to have more people see it and here what they think. i would also like to hear from some blade runner fans and hear what they think. eitherway i appreciate everyones review and play up to this point. if you think re-publishing it will help then i may try it. ill see how it goes today.

my next project may take a bit longer than 3 months this time. i have dead space 3 and alien colonial marines to play :-)

Your reaction is justified : why spend monthes working on a project that doesn't get the audience it deserves ? It's unfair (even though it was the case of many 19th famous writers, who lived and died poor before getting posthumous appraisal (too bad for them, but good for us they weren't forgotten). I wonder how the cool pages work, because it surprises me too, seeing as poor levels shared by lazy trophy-driven Sackboys creators get, at last, hundreds of plays, while real work like yours did not see the light of the two first cool pages. And, as soon as your level vanished from the cool pages, unless you have a strong network, it is doomed.

When I first published AirSackForce, it was on Friday night, and I expected it to be played by American players all along the night (I'm French). When I woke up in the morning, I checked the number of plays : 2. Misunderstanding-stricken, I decided to delete the level and to re-published it a few hours later. And it worked pretty well. I think that a level stays in the cool pages as long as it gets an important ratio plays/time. The minute this ratio decreases, the level falls.

Well, my big bro has been studying movies, and he did a memoir on Blade Runner, I'll show him your level and tell you what he thinks about.

haha i did the same thing for my halloween level. i published it as i was going sleep. since the majority of LBP players are american i was thinking they have the whole day to play it in first few hours of being published. and it worked lol. i think you have to get up to 50+ plays in the first few hours of publishing.

anyway man thanx for the advice. ill re-post the level then and try again and see what happens. ill change the link in this post aswel. will be sad to lose the great reviews though

I watched it and its quite impressive... very well made, very long lol.. but good. Excellent use of the camera. Great visuals, the cityscape looked awesome, and the silhoutte like characters very cool... i barely remember the movie anymore, but im quite sure u captured the atmosphere nearly perfect. It made me wanna watch the movie again.

I kinda feel sorry for u... i can not imagine, putting so much time and effort into one project and barely anyone cares for it lol... i worked on some tetris level for nearly 3 weeks... and i allready was a bit nervous noone plays it at all... (luckily it landed on top on the cool pages quite fast lol) but doing a polished movie like this.. taking your time... (3 month), i can understand u are dissappointed.

I knew this Silent Hill Level noone cared about... its really really good.... the creator republished it again, over and over.... now he got 4k plays, 500 hearts on it and tons of positive feedback.... well it needed some time, but he got the reaction the level deserved... i wouldnt recognize this to any mediocre level, but in some cases its kinda necessary to get the attention a high quality level or movie deserves.

Well, its up to u. I guess movies are some kind of special thing.... and a blade runner movie is even more special... its a classic for sure... but with almost only kids playing this game.... and not beeing in the 90`s anymore.... and with movies not getting that much attention on the lbpv servers... well.. its a very special case. I would love to see your movie getting atleast a few hundred watches or up to 1000, but not sure if this is gonna happen, but u might wanna try republish it over and over.... and maybe one day u get lucky, and it gets bumbed right away... i guess it would make u glade seeing your movie getting tons of watches.

Im for myself barely watch movies on lbpv... i almost only care about levels. Its an interessting object... but.... i dunno...

If u would make a level out of this and take the movie as prologue or intro for it... that would be amazing and probably get more attention... your movie would even get more attention afterwards.... not sure if u into it (making levels)

Anyways your Movie isnt unseen or not appriciated, atleast u got a few peepz here giving you probs.

haha, is beautifully made, seriously, beautifully made.

I feel bad for you, buddy ; a work of art like this, should see it all LittleBigPlanet. But do not worry, I'm sure your big moment will come early!

And sorry for my bad English,

thanx man! im glad you liked it. originally i was going to make a gallery section in the extra's because there is a load of stuff i created and replicated from the actual movie but never ended up using it on LBPV. i was just going with the flow and made it my own.

you working on anything new yet for the vita?

How far are you planning to go with this? The whole film? *Crosses fingers* I would love to see how you tackle the last 25 minutes of the film!
Blade Runner has so many classic scenes. you've proved to me that you have the skills needed to really do them all justice.

I've made a version of the Blade Runner blimp (in silhouette)

http://i9.api.vita.lbp.me/img/ft/7e98c79cb18d4e41df3048f57311d3c5d9ee4cd0.jpg

With your sticker animations added I think it could look pretty sweet. If you want a copy just let me know. I'll happily send you one.

We've been talking about this in the Ghost Creators forum today. Everyone is very impressed.
I love the blend of silhouette stills and sackbot acting. kudos to you!

Yeah, I'm working on a sci fi silhouette level called Future-Shocks. got a week off work so hoping to make some real progress with that.

I loved the original movie so I was excited to finally get to watch this last night.

I was totally blown away by this. The presentation is incredible. The art design, the camera angles and camera movements, it was just so polished.

Best cinema experience on lbpvita for sure. Deserves a team pick, but I'm not sure they can pick it being a licensed film.

Ok, so if I'm honest, I didn't play this when I saw your post, as I can't say I'm interested in watching a movie on the vita (seen Wayyyy too many on lbp2 that go on and on and on and on and ...well, you get the idea so first off, to start the praise, well done for keeping it pretty short lol.
K, your city shapes were seriously impressive, I LOVED the 'cut out' scene at the beginning! It had such a wonderful atmosphere, felt like watching a manga cartoon! AWSOME sets, great sound effects, camera work...... If I had to cryticsise them I'd say the sack boys ruined for me, they kinda reminded you that infact this was a lbp level, until then I was totally immersed! Thought about keeping the comic book style going through out and perhaps, keep obviously all the 3d backgrounds etc, but all the characters as cut outs, perhaps even as colour art work line a comic book? I know that's a heck of a lot of work and it's just a thought, but boy oh boy that would add even more awesomeness

Great job, fantastic attention to detail, nice to see a creator put so much time and effort into their creation

As for plays, 1159 is pretty darn good

i don't think it's possible to make the whole film to be honest. in lbp2 when you use emitters to for your sets, as far as i can remember the level meter didn't go up. but i noticed in LBPV the meter still goes up but at a reduced amount. what you see in the movie is me pretty much working the meter almost all the way to the top. even though the emitter hasn't emitted anything yet...the object it will emit is still taking up level space. so i noticed. i may be wrong but i can't remember anything like that on lbp2. i would love to make the whole movie but i think it may be better to just do a few fav scene's. no one really wants to sit there and watch a 70min+ movie on the vita...do they??

if there are any ideas or suggestions on which other scenes people would like to see ( ill see what i can do with the ending of the movie) or if there is any other movie's they would like to see a LBP version of then let me know. if it's left up to me ill do a bunch of 80's movie's that no one will know lol.

i have a week off work also so im just gona try finish off this twin stick shooter im working on. i just make movie's really and atmospheric stuff so i though i would try make an actual level.

but yeah man i'd defo like a copy of that blimp if you don't mind :-) ill see what i can do to bring it to life. look forward to seeing your next project too.
