AirSackForce 2120

Archive: 11 posts

As a new level deserves a new thread, here am I to introduce my latest creation : AirSackForce 2120.
It is a shooter-like level, with waves of enemies, two bosses (that are not hard to beat, since a recent update), cool powerups (who said "laserbeam" ?), and I guess that's all.

Here is the LBP.me link :

PS : Special thanks to Woutery.

Hi there !
Nice side scrolling shooter game ! That's pretty well playable and the design of the enemies and bosses is great ! The background is nice too ! I although think that the camera view is perfectible, I personally prefer a flat view for this type of game... As you said, bosses are really simple, maybe you could increase the difficulty... But the level you've done here is fun overall ! Now waiting for your next creations !

Hey there

K, I agree about the camera angle, a flat side on perhaps would look better? Nice use of logic, with power ups etc, and really liked the scenery
enemy's looked great, and all in all a pretty nice looking level...
I would however say, that the game play it self was a little 'dull' do you plan to add to this at all? Different enemies? Harder bosses, more power ups etc? It would work well as a 'mini game' in between perhaps a platformer to break up the style a little, but it didn't quite have enough to it to stand out as a great side scrolling shooter in my opinion. Thoughts? Keep us posted if you add anything new

I totally agree with you, and, to be honest, I didn't expect my level to be that "praised" by the community. I thought about adding a part where the player would have to drop bombs on boats, but I assume I was a bit lazy and too excited to post the level.
However, your feedback enticed me to get back to work

PS : I just tried the flat side view, I wonder why I didn't try earlier : it looks great ! I've just proceded to an update so you can enjoy it too

Ok, yep, the side view looks A LOT BETTER , well done not sure what else you did?
I'd suggest turning all the speech onto 'subtitles' they really get in the way, and for some reason, I got the speech about 'rain' about twenty gazzilion times?
Love the idea about bombs, perhaps a different button? R1? Or even a toggle button to switch between different weapons, though that might make it too hard? But yeah, varied types of enemies requiring different types of attacks would be great.... Perhaps short lived power ups like triple or double shots? Would prefere to see your lazer power up go across the whole screen.... Make it feel more powerful... You could even make the enemies emit a sparking effect when they are hit by it to make it look more cool .

Keep us posted, never an issue going back and redoing things, and feeding off others ideas

Some minor changes : I added rewards and changed the firing sound.

Sorry for the nuisance, my bad. When I arranged the side view, I also enlarged the player movement area, but it accidentally overlapped with the tag that turns on the 'rain' speech. I'll fix it as soon as possible

About short-lived power-ups, I was thinking about guided missiles, but triple shots sounds great too. A home-made HUD will probably be needed to help the player to deal with those new weapons. I can't make neon flash in different colors, can I ? 'cause I was really thrilled when I made the trick

Anyway, thank you a lot for your feedback : it's gold ! No wonder why you got a Team Picked ! Congratulations by the way
I'll keep you all posted about any updates.

Well, i recently played it and its quite fun... shade seeker is allready providing u with a lot of ideas, just wanted to give my 50 cents...

Its a cool sidescrolling platformer for sure... i enjoyed it... its well made, it just could need more ^^ more more more.... its quite short and very easy... it got played like mad, maybe u should consider a sequel, which is bigger, better and more bada**

I could imagine a little bit better presentation, maybe a menu, with difficulty options... and maybe some improved visuals.. not that they are bad, but i dont know i thought they lack something.. i didnt like the way the clouds looked and not much sceneario in the background... the enemies projectiles could be slightly brighter, just slightly but they are basically ok and pretty visible... The enemies and the ship + the bosses look very good tho...

anyways, i would rather see another attempt of a sidescrolling shooter by you, than just updates...

Hehe, you are welcome dude, I got a team pick cause I have been doing this for a looooooong time Its all a learning curve

As always, rough tea offered some great advice there...why not do a new shooter? Learn from this one and improve on the next
Best of luck

Thanks Rough-Tea for the play
But before attacking a brand new shooter, I should fix somes things for that one, especially the end which is currently a bad joke. I added a new part with new enemies (boats included), bombs, a (not so) hilarious transitional twist, and a new boss. Alas, none of this is online, because there's also a bit of work on the boss to do.

But right now I'm putting LBP aside a little bit, I'm in the mood to play Disgaea
Besides, I'm bursting with loads of ideas for platformers or even mini-games
