The fake-looking mod edit makes me have to ask: Was this a joke?

*sigh*
I might as well say it...

I don't see why I'm even on this site. The community here is what really bugs me. I came here because I thought "Hey, if I join, I might get a little more recognition in the LBP community."
But no. No one pays attention to me at all. No one bothers to look at the levels I publish, and pays more attention to the bigger names like Ladylyn or however you spell it. I submit them here, and I get pretty much treated like I do back on the game.

What doesn't help is that the people that I meet in the game are a lot more helpful than all of you. I'm working on a level that I feel would help a lot of people on LBP, in that it advertises their levels. I ask the people I meet in-game for their help. They help. I ask people on this site for help. I'm ignored.

The whole "mod edit" thing is from the YAD thread, where I posted a rant similar to this, but Lady_Luck_777 edited my post, so now it seems like I'm only saying positive things.

What I'm saying is that I dislike the community here, and it will take some work for that opinion to change.

I might as well stick probably my greatest work into here.

The Gravity Suit is a level that's a mix of both Portal and VVVVV. It borrows the main gameplay element from VVVVV in that you can switch your own gravity. It is a large group of puzzles (like Portal), and they are all based around the gameplay mechanic. Music is done by Cortster12, and a friend of mine named Catvsb3ar2, and he is pretty decent at it.

Sadly, I cannot access any pictures, for there isn't any. I'm guaranteed you'll love it.

Has nobody told you about F4F? You must know about it. Very useful for unknown players.

I've quoted your description for your level thread...... not much effort in it to be honest. No pictures? Then take some! It's not difficult.

You only registered this month. Give it time. Recognition doesn't come instantly.

Did you want positive recognition or negative? You have been here how many days? Four!? lol

Of course creators like Ladylyn will get more attention. He has proven himself time after time of being a top notch creator while you are an unknown. Nothing happens overnight. There are really a bunch of amazing creators here at LBPC. Actually quite a few that are the best in the business have made LBPC their home here among other sites. So to blow us away with your skills right up front in four days, you better bring your A+++++ game.

You say you have asked for help... I don't see where you have asked other than your ideas and projects thread where you are offering to include others creations in some battle level thingy. I also see where you wanted to feature underrated levels. Well.. that is what our Level Showcase does each and every two weeks. Our Community Spotlight team plays every single level posted in the showcase and the ones that are amazing get spotlighted or a nod that they were really close in their efforts to make the cut.

Again, you have been here four days... In looking at your level threads, neither has utilized the F4F system (feedback for feedback) nor have you really gone out of your way to make a thread that entices members to want to play them. In Mr Sponge returns, at least you have pictures, but to be honest, none of the pictures look that inviting or amazing to play. In your newest level thread you say it is your best level ever. I queued it and will give you some feedback when I get a chance. ..but no pictures because there isn't any? At least take some pictures yourself!!

To make a great level, not only do you have to knock it out of the park with your creation, you have to have a great level badge, a wonderful description, a great title and an awesome level thread. Feel free to look at any of mine in my sig to what I mean. You really have to sell it like a blockbuster movie, not just a few words and expect fame from it. It takes work!

Here is advice I have given to hundreds here. You need feedback. Plain and simple. Maybe you are amazing, maybe you have really good skills for your age. Who knows? ..the only way to find out is to get feedback. The best way to get that here at LBPC is to use the F4F system and be proactive about it. (To enable F4F, go to your original level post, hit edit, then hit advanced edit and you can then select F4F)

Being proactive with F4F is by going and playing a ton of other levels in the Level Showcase and leaving for each and every one of those, detailed and constructive feedback. Not "Hey great level play mine". List what you like, what you don't like. What you feel could be improved etc. Only after doing that, tell them which of your F4F levels to play to honor their F4F commitment.

It isn't easy... and it takes a ton of time and work. What do you get from all this?

Well.. if you do as I recommend and really leave awesome detailed feedback on many other F4F levels, you can get exactly what you put into it. Lots of feedback on your level thread to help you not only improve the level, but also help you improve as a creator. It also helps you to get to know other creators here at LBPC and help build a network of friends here that can help give you tons of help in any of your future projects and level threads.

Plays mean nothing to be honest. Feedback is what you need. ...and there is no easy road to recognition. The public either likes what you do or they don't, but first they need to have enough time to know who you are. ...and sorry to say, if it is by complaining about us after 4 long horrible days, well... you do get some recognition, but not at all the kind you want.

How's that for talking like a real person.

I agree with Ali_Star. I admit, I dislike that you dislike this, but I can't blame you.
Can't blame us either, though.

Try to be more active. Post more, get to know some people, don't just be another guy in the crowd.
On another note: "Hey, if I join, I might get a little more recognition in the LBP community"? Dude, it doesn't really work that way. Threads are more than just places to advertise, if you need help, they'll help you. Well would you look at that, there's even a nice little help thread.

Just because you aren't getting the attention you want doesn't mean we're useless compared to the community in the game. It takes time, just like it does in game. And not to be a huge jerk, but griping about it doesn't really help, bro. :T You're hurting our feels. You know what? We all know that feel. We ALL know that feel bro, so get up and do more. Don't sulk around and get mad because we don't flood to your threads, DO something about it. You have the whole interwebs at your disposal.

spot on Jdubs. couldn't have said it better myself. It takes time and patience Dylianer. You have to prove yourself first. Heck, I've been here 4 years and it took two of those to get any kind of notice. Certainly not from my levels though, because they suck, but from just trying to help people out, being friendly, giving feedback etc. etc. Give it time man. Another piece of advice, I think you owe someone an apology, one Mrs. Lady_Luck__777.2013-01-25 16:30:00

There's lots of great advice in this thread from the outstanding community here at LBPC - you should definitely listen to it. It's not all about being "recognized", whatever that is. Instead, make friends and be helpful and recognition will come. Just have fun.

I think you owe someone an apology, one Mrs. Lady_Luck__777.You do indeed Dylianer. You can start anytime, I'm waiting.

Thanks for the kind words fellas.

I guess I have been the jerk here, blaming everything on you guys. I'm sorry, I wasn't exactly thinking straight. I'll take all your advice, and maybe a little more. I hope you guys can forgive me for being a selfish ding-dong lately...

Dylianer, several individuals have provided you with very sound advice that is definitely worth looking into.

Regarding the edit you claim Lady_Luck__777 made...please note my user name. Since Lady sits on the opposite side of an end table in the very same house that we both live in, I can say from a position of the highest integrity that she never made such an edit. You also missed one of the underscores in her user name while trying to imply the edit was authentic. Such behavior will not help you in your endeavor to achieve fame, unless you are hoping for overwhelming negative responses.

I will thank you in advance for your formal retraction of the false accusation made of Lady, and for your formal apology and promise to never do it again. After all, we are a forgiving family. Good luck in all your endeavors!

lol... No worries. You just needed a friendly whap upside the head or two. We don't hold grudges.

However we do really want to help any that are willing to help themselves. It just takes a ton of work on your end as well. There are no promises and nothing is automatic.

Feel free if you have any questions to give me a hollar and I will do my best to explain anything that doesn't make sense or if you get stuck somewhere on the forum.

You are very welcome. I'm also glad that you're liking it here at LBPC .

I'm loving the way that 2 mods edited your post. Is this a scam or something ?

Oh, I can sympathize with you.
I've posted levels on here that sometimes don't even get one reply. The intro to SackDroid, my best level I have published yet, had a reception best described as "tepid", even though I made it F4F and posted pictures and used fancy fonts and such.

I think you just have to keep on trying. Just keep on creating. Even if you're not being recognized, you are still improving, and eventually, you're going to make a level that's going to blow our socks off, and you can rub it in ladylyn's face.

But yeah. Keep creating.
