LBP - Flooded

Disclaimer

Ok, first off, this is NOT a "Fantastic" level. Just had to get that out there... This was my first actual level, something I started with a specific purpose and saw to to the end. However, I also bit off more than I could chew, made the level WAY too big (space wise), and by the time I published it the thermometer was so full I got errors every time I tried to edit anything.

So, I just did my best to wrap it up and published it. I do already know many things I should have done, I've learned a LOT since then. But, I also spent like two months working on this and wouldn't mind other people checking it out.

My biggest mistake I think is that this was too ambitious. I should have broken this down to 2 or 3 levels connected together... That way I would have had more Thermometer space.

Anyway, without further Disclaimer...

LBP - Flooded (http://lbp.me/v/f230he)

A quiet town was one day flooded, and their Princess was captured and imprisoned by the Evil Lord Billy Bob the Bad. The villagers have had to leave their homes and live on a bridge they constructed in the aftermath. Only Sack Thing can find a way to clear the waters, thwart the Evil Billy Bob the Bad and save the Princess!

(P.S. I couldn't think of actual names for characters, so I went slapstick....)

got it queued, oh, and to add pictures:
the link you gave goes to the picture, if I click on that picture, the picture opens so that it's the ONLY thing in the window
I then copy that url in the address bar
come here and do 1 of 2 things. either click on the little "insert image" icon in the toolbar (framed picture of tree)
a box pops up. It has 2 tabs: from computer and from URL
click on "from url"
in the little box beneath "URL" paste that URL of the picture
UNCHECK the box beneath that that says, "retrieve remote file and reference locally"
click OK and there you go.

Or you could just put image tags around the URL that you copied. NOTE: when you paste the image link here, make sure to "Unlink" it. Toolbar icon with the red "X" on it. Or, if your browser allows, right click and "paste as plain text"
For example. The URL is this: http://i3.lbp.me/img/ft/373d2f4ce39570b70a96079562489750cfcf5cad.jpg
If I put these around it:
like this
http://i3.lbp.me/img/ft/373d2f4ce39570b70a96079562489750cfcf5cad.jpg

that will give me this:
http://i3.lbp.me/img/ft/373d2f4ce39570b70a96079562489750cfcf5cad.jpg

Hope that helps and was not confusing.

I liked the storyidea and there where also some nice platformelements included.
But audiovisually speaking, I missed a bid of variety.
I don't know, how many stickers / objects / materials you had access to, at the time you've build it,
but the level looked a bid empty. But for a first level, not that bad.
At times even surprisingly interesting.

PS. I left my comment mistakenly in german - I hope that doesn't bother you to much.

No worries! I'll be honest, at first when I saw it I thought I was loosing my mind... lol But I quickly realized it wasn't just my mind, so I popped it into Google Translate and was good to go! Gotta love technology.

Yes, the level does have an empty feel for much of it. That was me over-reaching. Trying to do too big a level with too little knowledge.

BTW, I played your level today, Quest For Love/Dracula Rises Again PT1. My wife came home before I could start PT 2 and needed my help, so I queued up PT1 again so I could play it hopefully tomorrow and do it all in one shot. PT1 was awesome though! And well worth playing again, so I'm not upset about that at all .

I played this earlier today, sure it was under decorated & whatnot but I enjoyed myself while playing it, the level's logic worked & personally I love a long level I can sink my teeth into. I liked the boss & the ending with all the sackbots following you to the scoreboard, it was a nice touch. The more you create the better you get so, if this was your first level I'm sure you'll only get better.

@ DistantWords

My thanks to you. :-)

PS. You can always ask me for help, if you should find my levels too difficult. ^^
I'm working on part 4-6 now (with part 4 almost finished) and will also reintroduce the first Levelserie here, when I find the time for it. ^^

For a first level, this isn't bad. I'm glad you mixed up the gameplay some and everything worked correctly without breaking

...until...

the final boss stood in front of the checkpoint so that I was killed every time I spawned.

Other than that, there was just the typical need for more decorations, but again, it was definitely better than I would normally expect.
I played one of your more recent creations and it does seem like you've improved, but it's good to see some of your old stuff too.
