Terror's Manor

Archive: 8 posts

It's a puzzler level. Long, a few boss fights. Lots of dialogue. The theme is a haunted mansion. I can give feedback for up to 5 folks that are interested.

Thanks in advance.

Hey,

I just played your level and died at the bat.
So I cannot comment on the whole level and I will try to play it again in the next few days.

I liked the custom content, but some extra events that happen are always welcome when you walk through a graveyard or abandoned town.

The small puzzles are incorporated pretty well and most seemed logic to me.
One thing I would like to see is the use of infinite checkpoints for this kind of level. I rather see all the cool custom content you made and checkout all of your little puzzles than getting the feel of accomplishment from surviving a hard part.

I will try to include infinite checkpoints in my next level because so few people experience the end of my stories and it makes me sad. (even if it is my own fault, making my levels so hard).

I will add feedback if play through the entire level. But from what I saw, good job.

If you like you may give some feedback for one of my levels, check my signature.

I played your first level. It was solid! I tweak a couple things on this. Gave the bosses a bit less health and made certain things a little smoother. Hope you give it another shot.2009-01-21 12:34:00

I like the look of this level too... I think you need some cool lighting to make it eyepopping but the graveyard and buildings are really well done. I like the eyes peering out at you...

The puzzle with the truck was very cool... I don't think anyone's gonna figure that out though... maybe hint a little more - "there must be something around here I can fix it with" and make the hammer a little more noticable. I didn't even know what the message meant when it said about leaving a mess. It is pretty cool though, and not something you would normally see in an LBP level - kind of RE/Zelda.

The baby head and the swing set... creepy stuff, and a nice touch.

Good detail with the carrots in the ground by the scarecrow.

Nice enemy design as usual. Very Ghouls N Ghosts.

The textures and stickers you used for this ruined house when you fall through (well done again) is a really good look, and the scattered books and stuff are nice details. lol @ coping with eternal dungeon entrapment. Man, the swirly sticker you used to indiciate that the book case can be pulled is great. Swinging to get the switch, and putting the jaw in the skeleton is definitely adventure game 101. You're definitely a gamer...

This platforming section is great, with the gas and the timing, and you've got good use of sounds here... the guy in the cabinet is awesome, and this posessed library book section is dope. The way you did the flipping pages is AWESOME! Reminds me of the Library in areas in Castlevania... the painting and the candles right here is fantastic. These mini zombies even remind me of flea men

Cool, I won Shimmy. He's a cool repeat character lol.

I take it these are the switch controls for the boss I hear? Wow.

Really fun fight with the bat, very well done. That clock thing is nicely done, and the way you get a "required item" from a boss is a great touch, and gives the usual boss-drops-key gameplay some more personality. Same with adding weight to this rock slab...

wow another awesome mini-boss fight. That one really looks good and the set up for plane shifting with a dropping enemy is airtight. That's so cool putting the dagger on the sacrificial pillar.

That fountain is really nice, and this garden area is awesome... the music change was perfect, and I like how the church background you used really coincides with it. I've never really had a compelling reason to back track in an LBP level, this is awesome.

Nice puzzle with the fuses... not hard, but cool. Every room has a cool look... this is like RE crossed with Ghosts and Goblins crossed with Silent crossed with Symphony of the Night.

Awesome... he's exact;y like the boss devil boss for Ghouls N Ghosts on the Genesis. The way you take him down is very intricate and methodical... but the camera angles here make things a little difficult. I know you have to zoom up on some things but I think you should try and consider making this room a little bigger if possible so that you've got room to show the corners and switch spots without cramping the player. I know it won't be easy, but I think it would make this go from great to better. I kept dying because the "read speech bubble" thing would be in my view or the camera wouldn't swing. I died here, but I'll come back to this. I keep dying on the way through the level again, but it's definitely a good one.

So far I've liked all 3 of your levels that I've played, good stuff.

Glad you like it. I'll try tweaking the camera in that room.

I played your flying ship level with the paintball emitters! That can have so many uses that it's nuts!! What a great concept.

Alrighty, first I must say that this it the type of level that I like. I'm not that big on the "spooky" genre (more of a sci-fi guy myself) but the way this level plays is great. It delivers a real challenge that only the more skillful players will be able to handle but it is presented in such an attractive manner. This is the stuff I like, the difficulty makes it interesting and the design makes you want to surpass the difficulty, so even in frustrating moments you are still determined to see what other cool things lie ahead. This level, also, has a pretty good story, in the sense that it is intriguing but doesn't take itself too seriously and you are not getting bombarded with text. I'm guessing that you had updated this level after some of these comments, because I didn't have issues in the same spots as them. The only thing I can even think of is the life gate at the jumping section should be an eight-gate. I managed this part with one life left, and I'm a lot better than most people, so I can imagine this as being the quitting point for a lot of folk. Also, the candle on the skull can burn you and some may lose one of their four lives on that. I didn't, but I can imagine how ticked I'd have been if I did. That would be the only thing that I saw that could be listed as a con. Everything else was really good. The bat kind of reminded me of Castlevania, which was cool and the final boss (finished this with only one life left too) was nicely rendered and funny to boot! Over all, you earned a heart for this level. Oh, yeah, I agree with NinjaMcWZ about the lighting, doesn't take away anything without it but some creepy lighting would add some psychological effects to the whole thing. Good stuff, keep it up!2009-01-27 03:02:00

It's a great level but it is a bit tricky, I completed it but it took me ages and I got a bit frustrated. I kept dying on the part with the red smoke and the platforms, I think it needs a check point in the middle cause that was very difficult. The bat boss very tricky too, I didn't think I would beat him as I lost most of my lives before even shooting it. Anyone who likes a challenge would enjoy this but alot of people wouldn't be able to complete it... but I guess thats what u want. It looks very good and it has alot of clever puzzles, it also was quite funny too which is a big plus. The final boss was excellent and was well designed too good job!

One part that I found quite confusing was the evil shrine part with the rising stairs, the key used to activate the stairs doesn't look like anything useful, I thought it was just some useless part that fell off the boss, u should put a skull on it or something.

All in all a great level. I gave it 5 stars and hearted it and u, well done pal.
