MP3 Player/iPod buying advice.

Archive: 16 posts

'Sup guys.

Basically, I'm thinking of investing money into a new 32GB Ipod Touch. My current MP3 player is a Samsung somethingorother.

Yeah that one.

But anyway, I've had that literally years now and it's starting to mess up on me now and again. It's also lacking on the feature list. However, I'm big on my sound quality, and I've heard a lot from user reviews of the iPod Touch that the sound quality is borderline 'meh'.

So do any of you guys have an iPod Touch? What do you think of the sound quality? I've already had the time to play with one before, so I know what it's like to use, and the apps it can have. I also use itunes as my default player, with almost all my music having cover art, so the whole itunes thing isn't a problem either.

Cheers!

My experience with iPods doesn't go beyond a 1GB Shuffle, but I feel that the majority of iPod owners are more worried about being trendy than having a quality music player. My suggestion would be to get some top-shelf headphones and higher bitrate music. 2009-01-20 14:25:00

I always RIP CDs at a high bit rate, and everyone knows when you buy an MP3 player of any kind, buying separate head phones is always highly recommended. And while I do agree that many ipod owners are high on the wanna-be-trendy scale, the features in the touch are fantastic. This'll be my first iPod evar.

i have a classic (120GB) so i don't know if the sound quality is any different... lol i need more memory to hold my 35 ACDC albums and 711 iron maiden songs!! but also, i am like, an apple fanboy lol, so obviously you should buy an ipod over anything else 2009-01-20 16:45:00

I have an iPod Touch and it gets boring in about a week.

The quality of Apple products isn't great. I recommend you get something else.

Thats completely opionized. I have an iPhone and it is fantstic, music-wise. Great interface, quality is amazing, and it's just all around cool. The two product's only difference is phone usage so don't go saying that the iPhone is higher quality

I'd say go for it. It's clear that some of the things it offers - outside of music of course - are strong selling points for you. It's clear you're after more than just a media player and Apple has that market cornered for the most part.2009-01-20 21:08:00

I've got going on 16 gig of music, so there's plenty of extra space for vids and games.

Plus.... i'm then prepared to play the next MGS game then! :O! Metal Gear Solid Touch!

Shame it looks pretty boring from the screenshot. Though unlockable wallpapers are cool.

Cheers for the advice guys.

I got an iTouch for Christmas and I am loving it.
As Vhalt said though, I don't use it for music really and I haven't even plugged a set of headphones into it so I couldn't tell what the quality of the music is like.
But I'm addicted to looking for new apps on iTunes and have about 50 already lol
One of the best products I have ever bought and the sheer class of the way it works is amazing.
As said, it is an iPhone without being able to make calls.
And in my opinion the iPhone as a phone sucks anyway.
Best combo is iTouch + N95, which is how I roll LOL
Buy it you fool

iTouch FTW

I know you probaly ordered it but have you looked at iriver products or archos ones. I my self now have a ipod classic(30GB) and thinks its alright...nothing great grand or wonderful but works. I just remember when i had my iriver years ago it had so many great features as well and the archos having great features too...just my 2 cents but if you get the ipod it is also a good devices.2009-01-20 21:44:00

Cheers for the advice. I've gone ahead and ordered a touch now. What really does it for me is the tons of apps you can have. Lots of fun

I'd love to have myself a touchy Ipod. So sleek...

I got myself a gargantuan 80gig Ipod which I adore. I dumped all my music on it and realised I still had 40 gigs of space left so I started downloading shows and movies on it as well...
To this day I haven't filled it bast 50% memory...
24,67 Gigs of Music
11,10 Gigs of Videos
380,7 Megs of "Other"
And 38,25 Gigs Free

I'm getting there...

I find that the greatest asset with the Ipod is the audiobooks. I drive a lot because of my job and listening to music constantly gets to be a bother. So listening to a good book while on the road or doing menial tasks is a great way to kill time. When I bought the Pod I primarily intended to use it to play music, but I find myself using it a lot more for books.
