Follower ON/OFF state

Archive: 8 posts

With all the logic I've absorbed these last few weeks, my internal thermometer is overheated so maybe you guys can help.

I would like to set up some multiple tags on the screen (quite a bit of them actually). All of the same color and label. Using a selector or something I want to cycle through them one at a time.

Simultaniously,...

I would like to emit an object with some follower logic on it that will move it to the tag that is currently on. And then I would like it to turn the follower off so that I can emit another object to move to whichever tag is turned on next.

How would I do this?

Here is what I tried:

I have 2 blocks of material, on the first I have a microchip with:
-a yellow tag
-an orange tag senser set to (min 0, max 0, inverted, output closeness)
-a follower set to (follow green tag, input action on/off, min 0, max infinate)
-the orange tag senser is plugged into the follower

on the second block of material I have a microchip with:
-a green tag
-an orange tag
-a yellow tag senser set to (min 0, max 0, inverted, output closeness)
-the yellow tag senser is plugged in to orange tag

My thought was that the first block would see my green tag and go that direction and hopefully it would bring that yellow tag it had packed for the trip. The second block would see that the first arrived with that shiney new yellow tag it was antisipating and be so filled with excitement it would turn on the light to its orange tag. The orange tag would then stay on untill the end of time but, would also tell the first block's follower to take a rest, as it was now where it needed to be. But , .. "sigh".. nothing ever works the way I expect it to.

please help

Not sure what you mean by simultaneously in that context... so this may be way off base!!

Offhand you could use a selector to cycle through the tags either using a resetting timer to cycle it. Then use a timer on the emitted object to turn off the follower after so much time.

Sorry if I completely simplified what you were attempting or am not understanding. lol

Edit: Ooops.. didn't realize you added more stuff!

Ok that sounds like a plan. How do I make a resetting timer thingy you described?2013-01-17 22:34:00

The simplest way to reset a timer is plug it in to itself. i.e. the output to the bottom reset.

Still need something to turn it on though like a battery, unless something has changed in the past few years or there is a better solution to that part.

Yeah that seems to be working, with the exception that the follower keeps moving past the object sometimes. It just ran through the floor of the level. lol. But when i changed the tag colors and gave it a reset it stoped acting up. So strange. Thank you!2013-01-17 22:51:00

Try this setup
set the min on the yellow tag sensor to 2
set the anti-gravity to 100% on everything
