Memoriser issues....

Archive: 5 posts

Hey all... I'm using memorisers to remember a tag, but I can't get it to memorise unless the memoriser is named..... Is that right?
Not I big problem I know, but seems that you can only have fifty names, I'm having to keep them to a minimum as I don't want to run into problems at a later date (as in run out)

Also, I couldn't get them to work when they are on a chip.... I read somewhere that you have to make sure the chip is turned on to keep it active.... Sounds daft to me, what say you?

Hey fellow creator!

A microchip is always on unless you've connected something to it that turns it off. But I do know that, if you want the memorizer to.. well.. memorize, you have to turn the memorizer on by connecting something to the input at the bottom of it. I suggest putting a player sensor at the place where you want the memorizer to do its job (receving information).

Oh, yes I know that about chips are in unless connected to something that says other wise, or on another chip that is off.... But I believe with memorisers it's different. I played around with them and couldn't get them to memorise when on an open in wired chip, but worked when placed directly on a price of material? .... Not tried again since, perhaps I should to clarify that?
As for nameinge memorisers, it would def' seem that a memoriser will NOT memorise unless it has a name (when you leave and return)

yes, you need to label a memoriser to get it to store a signal that is still there when u return, however you can use up to 32 ports on a single memorizer so you shouldn't need to use more than one label per level.

I may be wrong here, but I think you misunderstand how the memoriser works. You don't get a memoriser to remember a tag by giving it the same name. The memoriser's name is used to identify the memoriser when a player returns.

If you want the memoriser to remember the tag when a player comes back to the level, then connect a tag sensor (with the same name as the tag you want to memorise and it's output value set to "Signal Strength") to one of the memoriser's inputs. Then, using logic, send a signal to the memoriser's "Trigger" input just before the game ends.

Alternatively, you could simply attach a wire from the input of the tag to the memoriser and then trigger it.

The memoriser will remember the value of the tag at the time when the "Trigger" input is activated. If the tag value changes while the trigger is still active it will ignore the new value.

I hope this clarifies things (if they needed clarification).
