I'd imagine it'd be a while, it'd practically be a giant, solid gold extended middle finger pointed towards all the previous LBP games. Once LBP2/Karting are forgotten there shall arise an LBP of such awe-inspiring magnificence, capable of making anything we dare imagine.2013-01-15 13:53:00

Please, Ironface explain: How would that be bad? I think it'd be a necessary improvement to this awesome franchise that sort of has earth shrinking beneath its feet.2013-01-15 14:13:00

There's a lot of na?vet? in this post.

You're talking about "mixing" LBP Karting and LBP2 like it'd be as simple as mixing two drinks. Even though these games' premise is similar, their gameplay and programming are wildly different. You can't just combine them.

Also, keep in mind that the poor PS3 struggles to even handle too many decorations, physics and shapes in 2D levels. I wouldn't be so sure that it can handle detailed 3D levels.

You want to tell this concept to the creators of the game? Sure. It's not like they haven't heard this suggestion a million times already.

If you need a 3D sandbox game go play Minecraft. LBP was envisioned as a 2D game, I wouldn't count on that changing anytime soon.

I think the only way for the LBP franchise would be in 3D is if it comes out on the 3DS, unless it starts having those little 3D-informative stickers on them2013-01-15 20:56:00

Again, like I've said in numerous threads about LBP turning 3D, I don't think it should. Of course it would be cool, and I would buy it, but I would rather have a new 2.5D LBP. I enjoy LBPK, and I'm glad they made it, but that's just a spin-off game. A full 3D LBP, like SnipySev said, would lag a lot more when in detailed levels.

I would rather a company make a full 3D game that wasn't LBP, but had an LBP-ish create mode, since I think that
for 1: The gameplay would feel and look weird in 3D. Imaging spinning on one of those sponge wheels.
For 2: It would feel awkward seeing Sackboy's back when he platforms, and not his adorable face.
and thirdly: How would checkpoints work on multiplayer? Each player would have to have their own camera in a 3D game, so it wouldn't have the same multiplayer experience.

And please, I don't want an argument started about whether LBP should go 3D or not. I just wanted to share my opinion.

Actually I was just saying how it'd put the other LBP's to shame in comparison, considering it'd be capable of doing everything the other LBP's can do and much more. I'd welcome such a fine game.

It almost seems like when a 3D LBP is mentioned, all of its hypothetical problems are identified as opposed to its potential.

I'm pretty sure a fully fledged LBP 3D won't be out until well after the PS4. LBP3 will probably include an official layer tool and 3D camera support.2013-01-16 12:41:00

There is no guarantee that the next LBP game will be 3D or the next game that Mm makes will be related to LBP at all; I honestly think that LBPK is the only 3D LBP game that we're going to be getting :meh: . Plus Mm are already working on a new 3D game Tearaway, so we will have to see how that turns out.

Fair enough.

Media Molecule is currently working on a new IP that "is more ambituous than LBP".

I'm guessing it'll be for the PS4, and the only thing more ambituous than LBP that I can think of is LBP, but in 3D.

However, since it's a new IP, I suspect it won't be as cutesy as LBP, or at least will offer greater freedom in graphical design. Maybe.

But that's just conjecture. What is almsot certainly a fact, however, is that MM's next game won't come out on PS3. We're too close to the PS4, and that would be quite a title for a new system.

A recent article about Mm had pictures of their studio.

I spy some kind of dragon on the monitor back there...

I choose to believe that means that I was right and the next one will have more realistic options for level building, and no one will tell me otherwise!

I will tell you otherwise. You were wrong. The next LBP will not have more realistic options for level building.

It's more like LBP2.5

Well, what if it's a Paper Dragon for Tearaway?

Not really. It has enough new features and tools to make it LBP3, but since it's on the vita, not many people have it.
