How do you make moving circular objects stick to ceilings?
Archive: 7 posts
Im trying to make a plasmified, circular object roll around platforms and I can't figure out how to get it to stick to it all the way around :| | 2013-01-15 01:35:00 Author: IcyFlamez_ Posts: 118 |
Well, if I understand correctly, you could use invisible material to make it stay up. Do you have a picture? | 2013-01-15 04:17:00 Author: gamerguy5432 Posts: 333 |
I have made a rather simple version, where a plasma ball is circulating a rectangular cardboard platform.http://ib.api.vita.lbp.me/img/ft/6ab460c8c1a8c16f62b876a6d4fad02c7180b2f4.jpg The rotator on the circuitboard is optional. I'm not sure if the design is too simple, but I have published a copyable version of the level (http://vita.lbp.me/v/-h886) in case you want to check it out anyway Best of luck! | 2013-01-15 11:10:00 Author: Slaeden-Bob Posts: 605 |
Just an idea.... Put a material tweaker on the plasmafied (is that a word?) object and set the friction to 0. Instead of a follower, use a mover with local space on (never can remember, just set it to the opposite of its default) and a look rotator (to look at a tag on the item you want it to roll around). It will only make it move aroind the object in one direction (clock wise or anti cloak wise) and you will have to trigger a tag on the object it rotates around for it to work..... And I'm not totally convinced this will work, but it's the first thing I would try. Add me mate if you need some 'online' help... Good morning IcyFlamez_! I seem to have a solution for you. Ill post pics and a step by step walk through of how ive arrived at this and im sure you'll have no problem tweaking it to your particular application. In the example im providing the round plasmafied object travels clockwise around the exterior of said structure. 1. First adjust your create settings to match mine. will make it easier to follow along. Check "Front View" and set the grid to "Medium" http://i1113.photobucket.com/albums/k510/wolfdre/2013-01-16-110701_zpsb90aa9cc.jpg 2. Bring out the basic Cardboard material and set it to "Dynamic" dont bother with layer settings, leave it one wide and create a 5x5 square. and then reduce the material tool and cut a square from the center. http://i1113.photobucket.com/albums/k510/wolfdre/2013-01-16-110724_zps10ff38c1.jpg http://i1113.photobucket.com/albums/k510/wolfdre/2013-01-16-110737_zps4e6dc83f.jpg 3. After completing the surface go back into your Material Tool and select the circle. Also dont forget to change its setting to "Static." Place the round on top of the top left corner. http://i1113.photobucket.com/albums/k510/wolfdre/2013-01-16-110758_zps0dbdcf4b.jpg ....Continued in next post. | 2013-01-16 16:38:00 Author: Wolfdre Posts: 218 |
...continued from previous post 4.Its logic Time! For this step we will need a "Rotator", "Material Tweaker" , "Gravity Tweaker" & a "Not Gate" In the provided snapshots ive listed all the necessary settings. Match them to replicate this example. 4a. The "Rotator" and "Gravity Tweaker" get applied to the rotating object. http://i1113.photobucket.com/albums/k510/wolfdre/2013-01-16-110853_zpsa649a205.jpg http://i1113.photobucket.com/albums/k510/wolfdre/2013-01-16-111022_zps64d40bac.jpg 4b. The "Material Tweaker" and the "Not Gate" get applied to the structure. The "Not Gate" needs to be wired into the input of the "Material Tweaker" and then back into its own input to create a pulse. http://i1113.photobucket.com/albums/k510/wolfdre/2013-01-16-111108_zps0c60a48f.jpg http://i1113.photobucket.com/albums/k510/wolfdre/2013-01-16-111141_zpsba9a2b65.jpg http://i1113.photobucket.com/albums/k510/wolfdre/2013-01-16-111220_zpsca1faf02.jpg 5. Hit the round with your favorite danger tool (believe you were after plasma so i will use that for this example) step back and unpause the create space. The now lethal round object travels effortlessly clockwise around the outer edge! http://i1113.photobucket.com/albums/k510/wolfdre/2013-01-16-111321_zpsdfe464f9.jpg http://i1113.photobucket.com/albums/k510/wolfdre/2013-01-16-111327_zps96dd120a.jpg If something isnt clear or you need additional assistance than feel free to contact me The screenshots ive posted have also been made available in THIS ALBUM (http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/album.php?albumid=2901) Feel free to browse/take copies or w/e | 2013-01-16 16:41:00 Author: Wolfdre Posts: 218 |
