PS4 to be revealed pre-E3?

http://www.egmnow.com/articles/news/sony-exec-hints-at-pre-e3-playstation-4-reveal/ The PlayStation 4 could see a reveal before E3 2013 in June, according to Sony Home Entertainment VP Hiroshi Sakamoto. Sakamoto broke the company?s silence regarding the PlayStation 4 in an interview with emol.com at CES last week. ?That?s still a big secret,? he is reported to have said when asked about a new PlayStation model being released. ?But our friends are preparing PlayStation. I can only say that we are focused on the E3 gaming event, scheduled for June. Announcement may be in that minute or even earlier in May.? When probed further as to whether it was a ?big announcement? or ?something additional,? he replied ?probably the first.? Sakamoto added, ?In that time we expect to deliver great news, but we must wait until May at least.? The quotes have been translated from the original interview which was done in Spanish, however they do fall in line with previous reports which strongly place this year as the time for next-generation announcements. Of course you have to take this information with a pinch of salt as with all next-generation news until Sony officially reveals the console. What are all of your opinions on this? | 2013-01-14 20:43:00 Author: TheUltraDeino Posts: 1274 |
Well the Sony E3 conferance is always a day after Microsofts so it makes sense to get in first. | 2013-01-14 20:50:00 Author: Rabid-Coot Posts: 6728 |
Similaraly, Gamesindustry.biz suggests PS4 will be released October and NeXtbox in November for 400 dollars each. http://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/2013-01-14-USD400-price-point-for-next-playstation-xbox-consoles To which I say, I hope the costs for developing don't skyrocket again. :/ | 2013-01-14 20:52:00 Author: RockSauron Posts: 10882 |
The PlayStation 4 could see a reveal before E3 2013 in June, according to Sony Home Entertainment VP Hiroshi Sakamoto. That's a very misleading headline. He said nothing about this announcement being PS4 related. This BIG announcement could be game related or Gaikai related. | 2013-01-14 22:08:00 Author: GribbleGrunger Posts: 3910 |
I hope it's announced. That would make my dream come true. | 2013-01-14 23:49:00 Author: amoney1999 Posts: 1202 |
Yeah I could see it announced this year. Released though? I doubt it, more then likely I see it being released sometime next year. | 2013-01-14 23:53:00 Author: argetlam350 Posts: 212 |
I'm excited about any PS4 news. My dream list of announcements are that 1) it will be sold in late 2013 (bang! zoom! quick to market), 2) the AMD technology will make it lovely easy for developers and offer a comparable experience to high end PC gaming, 3) there is full content migration, not just account migration, from PS3 to PS4. That last one is a long shot since it's already been hinted that the PS4 can't handle PS3 games due to the shift away from Cell technology, but it'd be nice if they got up there and promised it on stage. Of course, then they have to follow through on that promise. Beyond that, if the console/software remains region-free and there are no online connection fees, I'm extremely happy. | 2013-01-15 02:55:00 Author: Unknown User |
Yeah, if it's not all digital download, then the PS4 should be backwards compatible, if not, I guess I'll be keeping my PS3 for some more years. | 2013-01-15 10:25:00 Author: TheUltraDeino Posts: 1274 |
I hope they announce it sooner rather than later, I'm very keen to hear some concrete news rather than the constant rumours that are on all the news sites. And seeing what the next gen' games have to offer will be very exciting I'm sure, there's a lot of potential with such a boost in hardware. Better graphics is all well and good, but it's other things I'm interested in such as better AI and the system being able to handle more things at once. And if they can finally nail a solid frame rate in the majority of games without any issues, well, that would be nice! Looking forward to seeing just what they can deliver. | 2013-01-16 09:42:00 Author: LieutenantFatman Posts: 465 |
Lol I'm also willing to have my hands in a PS4 but I have to say I feel a little sorry for Wii U. To be honest I think the Wii U is just very slightly superior to the actual generation consoles and when the PS4 and Xbox720 or however it is called come, it will be kinda... Crushed for the competition. Anyway, I hope that doesn't happen. Maybe I'm just terribly plain wrong. | 2013-01-16 13:23:00 Author: yugnar Posts: 1478 |
http://m.oxm.co.uk/49319/dragon-age-3-artist-xbox-720-tech-wont-be-as-obvious-a-leap-as-xbox-to-xbox-360/ Thoughts? I'm assuming it'd be the same for the PS3. And then Multiplatform titles may be leveled off to work with the Wii U, too... hm :/ | 2013-01-17 02:18:00 Author: RockSauron Posts: 10882 |

Think of the Wii U as if it was the 360 of this gen. | 2013-01-17 02:30:00 Author: amoney1999 Posts: 1202 |
The 360 was released a year earlier and it is still going strong today! Think of the Wii U as if it was the 360 of this gen. Hopefully you're right man. Anyway, I wasn't truly convinced of its power until earlier today. Compared Batman's Arkham City loading times (where actually Arkham City is loading after exiting a building) and Wii U's version loaded OH SO MUCH FASTER than the PS3's versions in most of the times. Probably Nintendo has much more power in that thing that we think. | 2013-01-17 04:53:00 Author: yugnar Posts: 1478 |
Personally, I'd rather have the PS4 come out later. I haven't had a PS3 for too long compared to a lot of people, so I think I'd feel pretty uncomfortable with having an even better console come out, with everybody rushing to get it. In my mind, everybody deserts me to get the PS4 (which, also in my mind, is only marginally better than the PS3), and I'm the only person stuck playing on my PS3, where every lobby whispers 'you're a loner in this post-apocalyptic world'. My mind is a stupid mind. | 2013-01-18 01:27:00 Author: Kaboosh99 Posts: 359 |

Generational transition is a gradual process. | 2013-01-18 01:42:00 Author: Rabid-Coot Posts: 6728 |

I make a habit of imagining things happening unrealistically. The release of the PS4 will still accelerate the death of the PS3. | 2013-01-18 06:11:00 Author: Kaboosh99 Posts: 359 |
It'll be 7 years old by the time the PS4 launches its had a long run for a home console. We can't halt progress just because you're late to the party. Also there's already plenty of games that have dead/near empty online modes so even with no next gen hardware you can get the same problem | 2013-01-18 10:51:00 Author: Rabid-Coot Posts: 6728 |
http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/df-hardware-orbis-unmasked-what-to-expect-from-next-gen-console Supposed specs for the PS4. Don't really understand it, but maybe someone with a mroe techy background can enlighten us? | 2013-01-18 18:42:00 Author: RockSauron Posts: 10882 |
Well the way I interpreted the recent tech' rumours is the PS4 will be far more powerful and the games will potentially look more impressive if this extra power is utilised effectively. And the Xbox will have more RAM and so will load games quicker and can cope better with open world games. But I'm sure there's a lot more to it than that. | 2013-01-18 19:25:00 Author: LieutenantFatman Posts: 465 |
http://www.ign.com/articles/2013/01/18/report-sony-retiring-dualshock-with-ps4 PS4 to now have Dualshock? But... why would they mess with a good controller configuration... D: | 2013-01-18 23:40:00 Author: RockSauron Posts: 10882 |

Yeah, dualshock was really basically one of the most iconic things about Playstation... Indeed, The PS-Controller is my favorite controller among any other systems. I hope they are not really planning on copying Nintendo again... Sony has been doing that way to much over these past years. *mew | 2013-01-19 16:05:00 Author: Lord-Dreamerz Posts: 4261 |
Abandoning Dual Shock outright is pretty much the stupidest decision Sony can make. It's one of the best controllers of all time, period. There is absolutely nothing wrong with it. Enough with the stupid gimmicks, just focus on making good games. http://images.vg247.com/current//2013/01/ps4-controller-concept-image-from-le-internet.jpg It's just a concept image that's probably meaningless and inaccurate, but man it looks terrible. | 2013-01-19 17:15:00 Author: bonner123 Posts: 1487 |
http://images.vg247.com/current//2013/01/ps4-controller-concept-image-from-le-internet.jpg Right now imagine this concept with the normal button configuration you get on a dualshock instead of that madness, it doesn't seem too bad. I don't know how useful the screen would be but there are times that I would really like the controller to be a little bit wider. | 2013-01-19 18:49:00 Author: Rabid-Coot Posts: 6728 |

Don't really understand it, but maybe someone with a mroe techy background can enlighten us? It's basically using a modified Laptop Graphics card for price saving, and the AMD CPU's make some sense. I don't think that will be it though. The ram is a bit hard to believe. | 2013-01-19 19:26:00 Author: theswweet Posts: 2468 |

This is going to be the longest run a Playstation home console has had before a successor is launched. Ok, I get you now. I thought you meant lifecycle because of this: It'll be 7 years old by the time the PS4 launches its had a long run for a home console. I assumed (incorrectly) that you meant it would end at 7. Sorry for the misunderstanding. | 2013-01-20 00:47:00 Author: GribbleGrunger Posts: 3910 |

http://kotaku.com/5977750/quantic-dreams-tantalizing-ps4-project-xseeds-surprise-killer-game-and-other-secrets Seems like Quantic Dream, makers of Heavy Rain and Beyond: Two Souls, registered a doman called "Singularityps4.com", hinting they are making a game for the ps4. And it's Singularity. Or at least that's the codename as Activision owns the trademark for the name Singularity. | 2013-01-22 19:29:00 Author: RockSauron Posts: 10882 |
