The heavy metal mullet planet - leather-monkeys
Archive: 26 posts
leather-monkeys actually made a 2 part level recreating the mullet planet lbp commercial. This is an all around great series that not only recreates the commercial, but exceeds it. the commercial for those who dont remember WYGfYVCp6q8 clips from his level: http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3367/3210071223_5aed83300c.jpg?v=0 http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3468/3210917156_a1376c396e.jpg?v=0 http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3356/3210917024_eb8e11b4d4.jpg?v=0 edit: looks leather-monkeys tweaked part 1 and improved the gameplay experience for multiplayer, as well as making this level even more amazing. I dont know how he could have made it any better, but he did. Hands down my favorite series of levels. Ok I have now republished part 1, the bouncing amps have been replaced, there are new prizes, new paths and more objects have been added. Not only does it fit in more with part 2, it also freed up 2.5 chunks of the thermometer, so hopefully less lagg! Please play the new version as a lot has been changed. | 2009-01-20 03:46:00 Author: tyboogie Posts: 96 |
Just played these, they were awesome! The pathing was just insane. I never knew where I was going to end up, there were times where I thought I was about to fall, but I landed on a piece of what I thought was background. There's a certain level of chaos to this, but it works, it's so lively and insane and fun to just play through and look at. I hearted it, it's something I would definitely show anyone who came over and wanted to see some examples of what you can do with the level editor. | 2009-01-20 04:29:00 Author: Teebonesy Posts: 1937 |

This looks great. Nice idea actually building a level based on the ads. | 2009-01-20 13:03:00 Author: wexfordian Posts: 1904 |
Wow didnt expect this, thanks for the feedback! I got carried away with part 2 and so there are many things I need to change in part 1. | 2009-01-20 15:11:00 Author: Leather-Monkey Posts: 2266 |
Wow didnt expect this, thanks for the feedback! I got carried away with part 2 and so there are many things I need to change in part 1. Holy cow man I didn't know you posted here. Awesome job, well worth the 5 stars i gave it. I know you probably didn't have thermometer room, but one thing I would have like to see is the van from the commercial. Also when you attach point bubbles to objects (in part 2), it causes lag when they are collected. I doubt you can do anything about the second thing, since detaching the point bubbles would cause the whole level to fall apart. | 2009-01-20 15:59:00 Author: tyboogie Posts: 96 |

Ok I'll try detaching the point bubbles, the van was planned but it was to risky. The level was about to overheat and it would be difficult making it land in the right place. Dont know if you noticed but I gave the van away as a level complete prize :] | 2009-01-20 16:47:00 Author: Leather-Monkey Posts: 2266 |

I actually haven't played anything quite like it, and would love to see more levels like it. It's kind of like a playable rock-themed drawing or doodle than a traditional level. It's so incredibly fast-paced, and there's this level of chaos, as if everything was drawn in first and the player kind of gets around however they can manage. It's not quite as linear and neat as a lot of people try to make their levels, but I LOVE that about this. It's so perfect for LBP. It's just a totally wild, sort of free-form experience, and in the end you've gone from A to B. tons of hilarious touches too, like the checkpoint that decides to start rocking out. Great details everywhere too. | 2009-01-20 22:30:00 Author: Teebonesy Posts: 1937 |

Great details everywhere too. I love that part with the checkpoint. This level is just beautiful chaos. The path that you travel in this game is so wild at times. One of my favorite parts is falling down the guitar, hearing the drum beats corresponding to your fall and landing in the jetpack. I just found myself rocking out my sackboy at various parts of his levels. This level is definite first page material. My only real concern is playing the level with multiple people. The slight lag that happens can affect certain parts, ESPECIALLY the part where you are bouncing off of the speakers. | 2009-01-20 23:28:00 Author: tyboogie Posts: 96 |

If they ever end up releasing some metal type music tracks as DLC, I will have to make an all out heavy metal level. There is an extreme underrepresentation of headbanging in this game haha! Anyways, great job leather monkey. I'll be sure to give your level a play later! | 2009-01-27 15:31:00 Author: Thegide Posts: 1465 |
Man this was really great! I don't know if I played the old version or your new one, I'll have to back to find out | 2009-01-27 15:43:00 Author: KAPBAM Posts: 1348 |
heh, these were pretty cool. The ads obviously got a little more polish and is only 5 seconds long, but they have a whole team working on it and get paid to do it. Your guitar designs, and character playing motions are awesome. btw I thought your Race For Sparta was awesome... best race I've played and you did the dripping blood-paintball thing I want to use at some point in my samurai level. I placed #3 and hearted it | 2009-01-27 17:11:00 Author: Unknown User |

I played these levels last night and it was amazing and chaotic!(but chaos is good for a little big planet level!) I loved all the details and the checkpoints that rock out. I don't know how you could improve them, their a perfect sort of levels for Little Big Planet! | 2009-02-16 15:58:00 Author: lk9988 Posts: 1077 |
