The reason I asked people not to submit twice, was so that we could avoid as many doublers (Saving 2 or more of one photo) as possible. Now, when we round up all the pictures in February, we need to take special note of the fact you already submitted.

Omega, thanks for editing my post into the OP. I did however, notice a potential misunderstanding with what I wrote - can you take a look at my post again and put the 'EDCGP' edit into the opening posts quote?
The way the post is currently written, could imply that I mean we're going to take photos from the community photo thread from years ago.

I've also noticed that I made a screw up - the final version of the poster uses the accidentally cropped lve sackperson.

Hmm. Your attachment isn't showing for me. It just links to a 1x1 pixel gif.
Why not just link us to the LBP.me upload? If you've got your photo on LBP.me, just copy the image url from there, rather than upload it to LBPC then post it as an attachment.

Yes these are the photos and links that were posted. The only one I didn't include both submissions on was Antikris. I took the most recently submitted.

It's a transparent .PNG, you can use the creators you may miss, to include more people!

By the way, you have a multi-man team working with high resolution images, with a photobooth level also.
I worked alone on my slow computer with low-res LBP1 images, where I cut each sackperson out individually with GIMP.

Those were the days...painful, excruciating days.

Ah, I see. I'm still in two minds whether to include people who aren't around any more.
I mean, personally, if it was solely up to me, I'd rather we just focus on people who are currently in the community.
People come and go all the time. Great people leave, but they are replaced by equally awesome people who show up later on.
If you leave, you leave and you are forgotten about, that's just how it is.

Also, you did the entire thing with GIMP? Hell, that'd drive me to madness. I used GIMP for a few years, but doing anything was such a chore. Well done you, that's awesome.

to post pictures you just need the direct URL link, then click the "Insert Image" icon, then click "from URL" and paste the link, I always un-check the box "Retrieve remote file and reference locally" then hit ok.

We did ask people not to submit pictures with backgrounds that match the character. Your costume uses a lot of pink and light tones, and your background is a soft pink. I would have suggested you use a blue or green background as neither colour is present on your costume.

I'm not parroting this anymore.

Could you imagine if we kept your tiny photo and used it in the finished version. Everyone else is in neat rows and columns, and there's just a tiny little Kirbyman62 in the bottom right corner with a big arrow above him so people don't miss him.

Remember, it's much easier when the BG color of your picture is completely the opposite of what your wearing (example: your wearing blue, with brown, pick either red or white; it doesn't matter.), it just makes it easier to edit them by taking out the BG color, but also don't stress out about it, if there isn't a color that doesn't contrast with your costume there is a shader control using the right stick on the photobooth level (http://lbp.me/v/gwpw9b).

Rules state we're not taking on images without clear backgrounds. Even if we were, I still see a brown costume on a brown background.

Question, are people watching the other forums that were posted on the other LBP fan sites. Just asking since I posted mine on LBL and wanted if it was acceptable. I think it should be since I felt the color contradicted my costume but really the final decision is up to you guys who are doing this awesome thing.

I dunno who, if anyone is monitoring the other threads. We will be rounding up the submissions, of course, but as for checking who is and is not following the rules, I think the other sites just need to check themselves. The rules are posted on every forum, if people won't read them but still want to submit photos, it'll be on their heads when we don't take their entries.

Haha, no we're not doing special rules where some people get more costumes/appearances than others.
Also, I don't suppose you could use a better background colour? We asked that people don't submit photos where the costume blends into the background. Your Sackthings pale skin colour, plus some bits of clothing are nearly the exact same white as the BG.

Nope.
We still need to work out who's editing, allocate them a portion, give them time to do their stuff, then return it to someone else to sets up the finished version.

Although, thinking about it, I'd say any of us could easily do 101 photos single-handedly.

I have gone ahead and added ryder, Darksmoke and anoken to the folder of saved images. Just 'cause I'm such a nice guy.

I do not remember all the names involved with rendering the photos, so could those involved please drop me a PM, so I can email you a portion of the images to crop and name, then send back to me.
Assuming I get no responces, I'll just do all 104. Like a boss.

EDIT - In fact, 'cause I'm a super nice guy, I'm not going to request a lock - I'm going to leave this opened until the project is completed. If new photos come along as we're putting this together, I will simply add the new submissions to the group picture as they come in.
So long as you stick to the clear BGs rule, that is.

It would have been nice if you unorganised lot could stick to a 5 week timeplan, but, sure, whatever.

Hmmm... you wouldn't want anything distracting and if anything at all I would make that layer somewhat transparent (25%-35%)so it doesn't take away or confuse the costumes in front.

The original did have LBP stickers and doodles. Maybe look through the fan site art Mm distributed to use for some ideas. Also another thought might be to use the logos from the particular fan sites these all came from somewhere at the top possibly along with whatever title. Hopefully get permission and ask for a hi res version rather than pulling from the site since site graphics are quite small.

Slow. I've been stopped for weeks now. Still waiting on the Japanese community to get involved. The project was supposed to be posted everywhere at the same time, but our translator was absent due to some family stuff so there's been quite a delay.

However, I'm thinking about just finishing the Europe/America one and just creating a separate Japanese group photo - Not because of segregation or because I'm an impatient git, but because I've been going over space limitations in the photo, and I'm not sure how I'd handle having another hundred photos to add.
Either all the Sackpeople would have to be absolutely tiny (Which is a particular problem for those who might like to use this for a mobile-device wallpaper or whatever.) or I'd need to start spacing Sackpeople awkwardly close to each other.

Sure, go right ahead.
Latecomers run the risk of amusing photoshops, however, depending on how I feel.

That doesn't really work. It's not the canvas size that becomes an issue. I'll be posting numerous canvas sizes and ratios, anyways. The problem is that on mobile devices, already Sackpeople will be so tiny they'll be hard to make out. If the standard canvas is increased, when I scale down for mobile devices, every Sackpeople will be delegated to 1 pixel each.

I might just try doing a couple of versions. An America/Europe one, a Japanese one, and a huge one involving everyone.

I wouldn't worry about a mobile version. As you said, sizing that small would be worthless. You could still bring it up on a mobile and they can just scan around and size it themselves. Won't be fun for them, but as you have the photos so clear, might as well use them as given.

Yes. We just placed focus on LBP2 as it is owned by the majority of the playerbase. Karting or Vita pictures would be accepted, but neither game has the same popularity as LBP2 has/had.

When you translated the project, you did get the contrasting background bit, right? I see a couple of people with costumes that blend into the background.

Can't tell if it's perhaps a mistranslation, or if the Japanese community hates reading as much as the European and American ones.

It's not too much of an issue, though. Only a few look like they'll be a bit time consuming.
Thanks for these - I'll get started on adding them tonight.

I translated that point, but maybe some people didn't understand its importance because they couldn't read this thread and didn't know that the photos will be cut out.
I will call attention to that point.

Current photo count is on 148. 2 more submissions and my current document which has 25 Sacks per row, over 6 rows will look really neat and work perfectly.
3 or more and I'll just have to reorganise things a bit.

Could anyone get me some contact with the respective owners of LittleBigLand, Planetarium and Network so I can grab some high-quality forum emblems/insignias/logos? (Or do it yourself and just have them send me the image.)
I'm not on those forums personally, and I wouldn't know who to message. Throw me a frickin' bone here.
I'mma have to message Taffey and see if he has a high quality LBPC logo.

Also, if there's one for the Japanese community(s) I'd like that, too. But I dunno any Japanese forums so I wouldn't even know where to start.
It's for the top of the group photo. I think it was OmegaSlayer who said having all the major fansite insignias at the top would look really good.

Alright, I'll set to work finishing the project tonight in an hour or so. (There's something on the TV I want to watch.)

Does the site have a logo or insignia? I'm planning on grabbing LBPCentral, Planetarium and Lands logos and it would seem a shame to forget to include the other sites one too.

Also, I'll be grabbing the Land, Central and Planetarium logos later today. Unless someone can set me up with some rendered high quality ones from their original creators, I'll just be grabbing them off the sites/google directly. Without permission. Dun dun dunnnn!!!

Also, DaSackboy, OmegaSlayer, did you guys ever submit your costumes? I don't remember seeing either of you.

Ah, it's no problem. I was just happy to get involved in one of the community activity/event thingys.
I just finished cropping all the Sackpeople. Still got to do some shuffling and organising regarding the positioning, but I should be done in a few hours. (I'm going out for a bit.)
Finish few remaining Sackpeople. Settle on backgrounds, export images and upload.
Hey, should I make another thread for the finished project or just get Omega to update the OPs?

For anyone interested, there are a total of 196 Sackpeople in the photo thus far.
197 once DaSackBoy finally submits. Honestly - he's only had 2 or 3 months to do so.
Same for OmegaSlayer, actually. He'd be 198. I'mma go yell at him on Twitter and get his attention.

well now. that's just a bunch of bull and quite selfish IMHO. You are/were someone with a lot of influence here and did many a good thing here. You are highly respected and someone that many people are honored to call friend, including myself. Years and years from now when I'm sitting in my favorite chair and reminiscing about the days of old and I get the inkling to go down memory lane, I'll call the grand kids over and get them to help me find my old pictures on the enter-the-net. By then computers will be long gone and you'll access everything via implants at the base of your skull. Once I've been "plugged" in and the kiddos help me drive around and find the old building where all my old wallpapers are stored, it'd be nice to be able to pull up the Epic Definitive Community Group Photo and see all the sack people I once knew. You mean to tell me you're going to deny an old man his simple pleasures? Thanks a lot!

Now, I've had a hard time finding sites that will allow me to upload images as large as this without resizing and an even harder time finding a site that will allow me to upload large images with an alpha background.

Pahahaha. I planned to create a background with a giant Omegaslayer in the background. Technically, he's not in the group photo, he's behind it. Sadly, I could not find a large enough image of his costume that would allow me to scale it that big without some heavy pixelation.

EDIT- Aw, man, how did I miss you? I'm really sorry about that! I distinctly remember seeing the costume, too.

I saved every image as they were submitted in the thread. (And on the other fansites.) So I'm quite surprised I missed you.

Now, as far as I'm aware, this is absolutely everyone. I may have accidentally missed someone, but I doubt it.
There was one costume I knowingly left out, but I honestly felt it was a deliberate attempt to annoy the community. It was a H4H costume and we typically frown upon that behaviour in the community, so I figured I'd just avoid the issue.
In the event anyone else has been left out, I will update and republish as needed.

Also, can I just say I strongly agree with OmegaSlayers comment about DaSackboys involvement in the project. DaSackBoy seems to be getting overlooked a bit, here. This was a group effort and DaSackBoys snazzy photobooth was really cool and took a fair bit of time and effort.

Y'know he could have just given you guys a neon platform and background and been all liek 'Well, der u go!" but no. You got fancy colour changing technology and even a cardboard dinosaur with a camera.
Jokes aside, thanks, man.
OmegaSlayer started the project and Eustoma translated and rounded up all the Japanese submissions, so lets not forget those two, either.

Excellent. 3 slots left.

Remember, guys, usual rules still follow - so follow Malamos example of a clear outline around your character. Multicoloured sackperson on clear white background. White on black, red on green, whatever.
Typically, you'll want to pick a lighter or darker colour depending on your costumes overall brightness, and a colour that is not present on the costume.
White and black are best for the seizure-inducing rainbow costumes.

hey, since you're going to do another edit, would you mind terribly to change my name to "biorogue" rather than the "jester946" as most people know me as bio? I wouldn't even bring it up but since you're going to edit anyway, would you mind? Make sure it is biorogue and NOT biorouge. Some people put the "u" to the left of the "g" instead of the right. Again, it is "biorogue" as in ROGUE Squadron. Thanks man. Awesome work.

Anyone can enter, LIMI, so long as they do as requested when submiting. And preferably submit themselves if able. I refuse to manually go over costumes in order to crop them in their entirety when it's so easy for people to do their bit and make my job less tedious.
Although, in all fairness, this project was posted on Planetarium too, so if he's still active, I imagine Mags already saw it and just wasn't interested.

LIMI, your photo looks a little blurry. I was able to enlarge it by editing the lbp.me url, but I'm wondering if you have a better copy? How'd you take it? Photos taken with the Popit Photo tool or the Screenshot tool don't normally blur like that.
If you replace it, I'll hold your slot since it's not like you can manually do much about blur.

EDIT - And I don't recall Smurfetta entering... Nope - She's not in my project folder.

Well I was taking the photo submission itself as the way of claiming the slot - But if you have an eligable photo readily available, then yes, you can enter right now.
It does need to follow the same rules as everyone else, though.

EDIT - meaning a clear background that shares none, or as little of the colours present on your costume as possible. See this level for taking a greenscreen photo easily, and some examples - http://lbp.me/v/gwpw9b

Huh. That's odd - The first photo you posted twice uses 2 different urls.
I knew LBP.me handled different image sizes based on the url but I didn't think quality did - that might be worth looking into.

Ok, dunno if Ostler is ok with this...but I'll throw it out there.
It seems to me that the rows have 27 spots...
so this might remain an open project and the pic can be updated every 27 entries

Yeah it will totally lose the wallpaper ratio, sorry...but I think the wallpaper was more a plus than the purpose.

Asking 27 entries will also mean that people who wants to be in must go to ask their friends to take pics to reach the admission quota
