How to make a neat 8 shape in the track?

Archive: 12 posts

Hey guys!

Yesterday I decided to get back on creating my hopefully-one-day-it-will-be-finished track and I found this problem. I want to make a perfectly simetric 8 shaped zone in the track but I can't seem to get it right. If I use the branch tool it gets more like an straight line with an absolutely useless branch that's only the longest way, and if I edit them using the (hmmm... Who were they called?)... Tools that allow you to modify the track by moving it sideways it just becomes all messy.

Can any of you guys give me some tips to get a perfect, simetric 8 shaped track? Thanks!

do you mean one where the track crosses at the same level? Or where one goes over the other?2013-01-12 18:23:00

Speaking from experience with modnation. You can't. The way the game handles branches will not allow it. However, this game does allow a lot better creation of your own tracks. So if you can, make the section out of materials and just hide the ugly mess the game makes with branches right below it, or just use Breadcrumbs instead of the branch.2013-01-12 18:27:00

Yeah, pretty much figures it out already. Its pretty much impossible to edit a branch to make what I'm trying to do, I'll have to create that track section with materials only. Thanks for the help!

Nope, at the same terrain level, a track that forms an 8 shape. Literary imagine the number 8 as the track, you access that part of the track at the (for example) bottom and proceed with any route you want to the top. Lol that sounded quite weird.

EDIT: New question guys! I'm pretty sure you may know how to do this Adi How can you make a road that goes below/above an alternate track? They did this a lot in the story levels. So you can choose either the top path or the bottom path, by taking different routes, but lead basically the same place.

The only way you can have two pieces of track cross over each other is by driving a bridge over a existing piece of track. It's really hard to have a track cross over at the same point without a bridge.

Hey man! Checked your level. Even though it was really helpful and very smart solution, I have in mind something a bit more complex. Why? Because I want the 8 shaped track not to be the full track, but just a part of the course. As you can see, that makes things a little more complicated, as the 8 shaped thing must have an entrance at the bottom of the shape, and have an exit at the top of the shape, therefore can't have the start and end point in the same place as that makes a closed circuit.

Well I didn't realise that you wanted your figure of 8 to be part of a circuit and not the entire track itself. I don't think that's going to be easy to pull off and even if you could it would probably end up looking like that --> &

oh... well thats easier in a way. but you will need to build at least one of the 'routes' on a custom track/floor. Just create one side of the 8 (probably an S shape) then breadcrumb the other one. add floor, decorations etc.2013-01-13 17:29:00
