Magnets?

So this is kinda embarassing, but I can't figure out how to get magnets to work despite the small amount of variables. I had 2 objects. The first is static, the second is dynamic. I put magnet tweakers on both objects with the same purple tags. I've used "no falloff" so the level of attraction is constant. For output i've tried 100% on both, and 0% on the dynamic object with 100% on the static. But even when they're sitting right next to each other there's no attraction whatsoever...
I can't seem to find a tutorial on these aside from the wiki page. Does anyone know how these things work?

Put magnet on one object, tag on the other. the one with the tag needs to be dynamic, the other one doesnt. 100% output on the magnet. Make sure the objects arent snapped to ground cos this might lock them in place2013-01-11 22:54:00

Thanks alot! Now to hope that they'll hold up a grappling player.

I was hoping I could get a powerful magnet to work like the follower on lbp2... you cant. This seems to mean you can't attach anything to the player (even invisibly) which shuts down a huge amount of gameplay possibilities.2013-01-12 08:02:00

Well, technically you can, but... I had a block of polystyrene flying around my kart, it worked but it was so wild and violent, still not very useful. I guess you tried it with hologram, though. Apparently movers and rotators don't work on hologram (https://getsatisfaction.com/littlebigplanet/topics/movers_rotators_dont_work_on_hologram) (any help getting that report more attention on getsatisfaction is welcomed).2013-01-12 15:16:00

No need to be embarassed, even the best creators probably weren't that good when they first started .

adipose why dont you make a self weaponater object? that will follow the kart and does not technically need to be a weapon 2013-01-14 01:38:00

So something that follows the player around and if it touches any other karts around the kart that activated the weapon, it will kill them?2013-01-14 21:10:00
