Tearaway speculations/hopes

What do you think Tearaway is going to be like? (Besides whats in the trailer). What features do you hope it will have? I hope it will mulitplayer, and a create mode. (Although I think theyve already said that it wont).2013-01-11 00:10:00

I don't need multiplayer seeing as how honestly I've never been that big a fan of it, especially in my handheld games.

But the create mode of LBP is why I love LBP so very very dearly, and I feel like if they don't include a create mode in Tearaway then they are throwing away (tehehe see what I did there?) something that has made their games, and them as a company, so unique. The focus on giving players the tools to be creative.

Not only would they be wasting potential for a great feature of Tearaway, but they would be wasting a great opportunity to work with a 3D create mode, an opportunity that would help them if they were to ever make a 3D style LBP game (I have not yet played Karting, and thus cannot attest to it's create mode...).

Well, Karting wasn't really made by MM.

Again, I highly doubt the creation mode.

I kinda wish we had more news on the game since Gamescon, unless MM released a trailer under my nose in between August and now...

I know Karting wasn't made by Mm, but regardless of that fact it could still be seen as a sort of "Base" for 3D creation for the LBP series if it goes forward.2013-01-11 02:21:00

Yeah, but they said that Tearaway was a completely different project from LBP, and that its just a side project. Theyre not planning on making a Tearaway series. (Although that would be cool).

Hehe, if it is really successful I doubt MM resist the temptation of making a sequel.

I REALLY hope yelling/screaming/singning/making any kind sound at your Vita is 100% optional. If I'm playing this game in public I'm just going to make myself look like a fool if I just randomly yell at the vita.2013-01-13 12:59:00

Just start practicing now!
Run/walk around screaming at ur Vita with nothing running on it at all! That way it'll be waaaay less embarrassing once you have software running and a real reason for it

Which is why you play in private

OT: I don't think this game is for me, I saw the trailer and it looks kinda boring compared to LBP, certainly a step down but it IS a side project so...

Seriously, why do everyone think this is going to have a create mode? Just because it's Media Molecule it doesn't mean they're going to implement a create mode. Tearaway is very different compared to LBP.2013-01-15 14:37:00

Spot on, I'm not saying Tearaway will be a bad game, I just said I don't think I will enjoy this game.

Yeah. It is way different than LBP, and may interest different people, but it looks good nonetheless, and I know Im going to buy it no matter what.

Tearaway is very different compared to LBP.MM said themselves they were working on seperate projects from lbp with creating levels/games. so maybe tearaway will is one of those projects though i cant see how that would work it wold probably be complicated. just saying!2013-01-16 18:34:00

It appears to be a game based on PSVita's special features. I don't think it's a bad idea, if they don't make it so that every feature except the touching-thingy is used once. I would love a new, original puzzle-game.2013-01-16 20:42:00

You know I honestly don't think Tearaway is all THAT different ffrom.

They both have that quirky art sense that Media Molecule has proven to have.
They both are kind of adventure style games, LBP focusing more on platforming, Tearaway seemingly focusing more on the interactivity of you and the game.

I mean, when I watched the trailer for Tearaway I saw in my head how with a simple palatte swap, it could be a 3D LBP.

I mean I don't see how screaming "THEY'RE COMPLETELY DIFFERENT GAMES" makes them different?

Would you like to explain to me what you're seeing that I don't?

I think this game is going for making use of all the special features of Vita, while not having create-mode like LBP. It'd work well if it is going to have enough content and online play. Besides, if it had create mode surely they would've addressed that in the trailer.

It's like comparing GTA4 and RDR. They are kind of similar but they 'really' have nothing in common, except the makers and the overall style.

From what I've seen, Tearaway doesn't remind me of LBP at all. The art style in Tearaway is completely different than LBP. In tearaway, everything is made out of folded paper, the textures are plain and edgy and has that crumpled look. In LBP on the other hand, everything is designed as if you actually were a few centimeters tall and the variation of material and textures is huge.

Gameplay wise, LBP's main focus has always been on physics and how you're able to play around with using weight, velocity etc.
In Tearaway, this does not seem to be the case. Rather, you have use the Vita's capabilities to progress through the game. And of course the obvious, it's a 3D game.

Media Molecule is currently working on paper and finger customization for Little Iota.
I speculate that over 1000 people will buy the vita just for this game.
I speculate that the pre-order kit will come with a paper elk.
I really hope that this game is good. I like the crumpled and look of tearaway, for me, the crumpled look makes it seem like it was made on a childs desk out of homework and scraps or something. For me, LBP has always been about sharing, having fun, and creating. tearaway is different, there is no share, there is fun, and better darn there be creating. i would love creating maps out of paper. I better hope the 3D editor hopefully will be a lot, LOT more friendly then LBPK's editor.
Apparently Tearaway was created by accident xD. if you saw the announcement at gamescom 2012 he mentions "Finding a paper elk in the corner of the office" and thinking "What would a world made out of paper be like?" Thank you Rex Crowle for Sparking a magnificent idea.
It also has the what i call "Media Molecule" look and style, with the look being that is almost seems like it was made of spare paper left around the house, and the style being that its very smooth and creative.

Media Molecule I believe said that they handed over Littlebigplanet to a different company to work on this game, a company made up of 20 of the best Community players. Sooo, not a side project.

Only 50% of the Mm team is working on Tearaway, what the other half is doing unknown (probably some groovy PS4 title )

But... we can make it in real life! The only thermometer would be the amount of paper you have!

There won't be a create mode, just the ability to add you're own touches to you're own world (The crown on the squirrel you make, the stickers you put on the elk etc) This game is them flexing their creative muscles and doing something different and interesting, and it definitely is.

If you want 3D create wait for e3 when they might show their next game which is undoubtably a 3d LBP or 3D new IP. Preferably a new IP.

While create mode would be cool, (and I hope it does have it) Imagine what Mm could do with an open world platformer? (I'm under the impression that Tearaway is open world, please correct me if I'm wrong)2013-04-25 02:40:00

I don't think it will be open world, sadly. Based upon the trailers I've seen, it looks like there's a story and set path for your character to travel on. They could have an open world mode though, but I doubt it.
