Multiple Creators, Multiple Credit?

Archive: 6 posts

Hi y'all. My sisters and I had a fabulous idea :star:. We wanted to create a storyline that has a themed level for each of us, and by our own direction. However, we all have our own account. I was worried that there would be no way for us to publish the levels together in the community and still get individual credit for the direction of our own levels. Does anyone know anyway we can go about this? I'm hoping the answer is yes. Any help you could give me would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! 2013-01-10 18:16:00

Well, there's no way to publish with multiple accounts, I'm afraid. The levels need to appear on one individuals Earth.
It would be a nice feature, though, and I'm sure there are many people who would like to see the functionality added in a future game.

You can reference all the contributors in the level description by putting an @ in front of their username, which will then link people to their userpages on LBP.me. Not sure if it works in-game as I haven't tried it.
So, for instance, if I was a contributor, you would name me @Ostler5000 in the level description. This does the obvious thing of at least letting me stick my name on my work, and also gives me potential exposure if someone decides to click my name and see what else I've worked on.
(You should definitely add me as a contributer after all the advice I've given you here. C'mon, fair's fair.)

If you're having a hard time settling on which user will publish the level(s), one alternative would be to create a unique PSN account for the level series itself - instead of one person hosting all the levels, a separate account hosts the levels and you just state in the new accounts profile info that it is a shared account between X, Y, Z and Z's Goldfish. This method is the more popular one, as lengthy level series can really eat into your publish slots.

Transfering levels to another account can be a pain in the butt, though. I honestly don't remember the correct way to do it, so maybe someone else could fill you in.
Publishing levels locked, then sending the key to the new account, then having them copy the level is one way, but I've found bugs with that idea before, such as custom stickers no longer appearing, and some light objects/materials losing their inputs.

Thanks Ostler. I think we'd rather not create a separate account, we haven't published very much and we're hoping this can be our first big thing! I had no idea about the @"name" function, though, which does give us a few options. We might just "link levels" in the description that way, and in level, but still publish on our own accounts. Or something. Is there a way I can suggest such a function to MM somewhere on lbp.me? Thanks for all your help. 2013-01-10 19:03:00

No, LBP.me doesn't have any means of contacting the devs, or even other players, I'm afraid, as is it's solely for tracking your own levels and finding other ones.
However, MM/Tarsier do browse and post on forums just like this one from time to time. If an idea is popular enough here they'll see it, and I'm sure they consider most of what we suggest, assuming it's
plausable.

EDIT -
I forgot to mention, seen as each of you made your own level, you do know you can Level Link and unlock level published by different authors, right?
There's no reason each level couldn't be on the corresponding creators Earth, if you didn't mind the idea of the levels not showing up besides each other.

As Ostler said, if you can't pick on who is more deserving to have the level published on their moon, create another PSN account and publish it there. But because you prefer not to do that, maybe you could give the level to the player who contributed to the level the most?

hmmm have you thought of having someone since it is a story-line dividing it up evenly where as say there are three people you give one person an assignment to build the beginning of the story, The second the middle, and the third the last then have the person that has the beginning publish it on their earth and link to the middle and then the middle to the end so you all have your own works on one project. No new PSN everyone gets credit for what they did and of course you can still help eachother. As long as you use level links at the end of each level until the end.2013-01-15 01:10:00
