What's your favorite burger selling chain?

Archive: 67 posts

Yep, I'm back to the fast food topics. I actually tried all of these fast foods listed on the poll, and they're pretty good. In this case, which fast food has the best burgers on the list?

Please be aware that the ones listed on the poll are nearly US exclusive.

Although I can't see the post, I can see the poll title and I'd assume its under other because the wording he used was chains you "like"

Pub near me called the fancott, puts fried halloumi INSIDE a burger. I mean, what better combination could you want than the salty yet chewy nature of halloumi and the bitty but strong taste of a burger inside a sesame seed bun. With, I kid you not, SWEET potato fries and tomato salsa. Not the crappy kind either, fantastic heavenly strips of potato deep fried. What more can you ask for?2013-01-09 17:58:00

To be honest none of them (though I've never heard of a single one in that poll, we don't all live in America you know) really float my boat, but there's a lovely local burger place where I live.2013-01-09 18:28:00

Had In-N-Out once, and they're most likely the best, but it was a while ago so I can't really judge it. Five Guys is local and has the best in my recent memory.

The reason McDonald's isn't listed, for the uninitiated, is because while it serves decent burgers, their focus is not on making them awesome. The places listed above are renowned specifically for their burgers, specially In-N-Out and Five Guys.

A&W is one of the only burger chains I like. I also like the Works, but I'm not sure how common those are. There are some more that I can't remember because the only burgers I have nowadays are homemade.

I've also never heard of any of the chains listed in the poll. I'm guessing they're exclusively American.

Yeah, A&W is pretty good, actually.

There's a place here in my city called "Mr Burger." They make awesome burgers.

I like 5 guys, but wish we had an In-n-Out as I have never had the pleasure of trying one. I also like Steak n Shake for burgers sometimes as well as Red Robin's.

A really great local place here is Bub's that everyone raves about and is pretty good, especially the Big Ugly. However my most favorite local place for a double cheeseburger is Dooley O'Tools. They knock it outta the park every time.

Well.. I hear that at times, but fortunatly I have more than made up for it in other areas.

And not in my town. We have Whataburger, which is a Texas based fast food. They have better burgers than Carl's Jr, but I voted Carl's Jr because I liked it as a lifetime favorite.

That goes under "other".

We get that you don't like MacDonalds, but polls usually reserve the "Other" category for the less popular choices. MacDonalds is a popular choice wether you aknowledge its existence or not.

63% voted "other". How did that work out for you?

And that's fine. McDonald's isn't all about burgers, but it's a chicken place too. The thing here is that I avoid putting in the more well known places outside the other category. Also, did you know that McDonald's is no longer the most popular fast food in America? I can give a source if you need it.

And I don't hate McDonald's. I find it okay when talking about the chicken nuggets. But I can tell you this much: I'm not having McDonald's this year.

So the source I was about to pull out is invalid. Thanks for proving your point. In my top five favorite fast foods, McDonald's isn't one of them. Same with Burger King, Taco Bell, and two of the burger selling chains on the poll.

Sorry for naming the rarer fast foods on the poll.

That's perfectly fine. Just don't expect much accuracy in the resulting data if you're putting all the most popular choices in the same bag, that's all.

I just remembered an old favorite of mine. Awesome burgers, but went out of business back in 1992. It was called Flakey Jakes. They ground their own burger meat actually in sight behind a glass wall, flame cooked your patties to order and put it on a home made in restraunt bun. Then you could add any topics you wanted from their toppings bar. I would go nuts there with the toppings and had to use a fork to eat the thing. lol

It was a bit more expensive of a burger, but dang they were great. I have heard it was almost a copy of Fuddruckers and the two went to battle at one point. However Fuddruckers aren't around here so I have no idea which one was better.

..though just now looking, Fuddruckers are in Chicago and at a place I could stop by next time I head up to Wisconsin. Hmmmmmm.... I think I have my lunch plans set!!

Just because our food sucks.. Oh wait never mind.

Carl's Jr. (Hardee's where I live.)

Though I advise no one use this topic as a conversation starter at a social event.

I don't think your food sucks. It is what it is. Actually think your fries are some of the best if they are fresh. I sometimes crave a Quarter Pounder or a Big Mac. Though lately, those Double Cheeburgers have been quite tasty. Is it my favorite burger? Not of all time, but I still visit every once in awhile.

I had never heard of Carls Jr and didn't know that was actually a Hardee's. lol To be honest, I used to really hate their burgers except for the Mushroom and Swiss which was more like Salisbury steak in a tv dinner. Not great, but with enough ketchup and a fork, it wasn't that bad. When I finally tried one of their new Thick Burgers, I was really impressed. Only problem is I have to be horribly hungry to get through one. lol

I love food topics!! So there! lol

I haven't had McDonald's this year, but I did at least have in n out. One thing that disappoints me is that my burger had that icky sauce at the bottom. And I live 3 hours away.

My favorite burger doesn't belong to a burger chain, but to a local Pita restaurant here in Gent, Belgium. Like all other burgers it's extremely unhealthy though, so eating there is a rare pleasure.

Is it on a normal bun or in a pita? Regardless, I bet it is great. I would love to fly around the world tasting burgers. If only someone silly enough to pay my way so I could write a book and do the photos for it.

It's on a normal bun. They call it pita restaurant but they also serve burgers, fries, falafels, frikadeller, shawarma... all kinds of food that will grant you a heart attack before you hit 40 if eaten regularly.

I think he means that with the poll and especially the way it was done, it ended up being a bit controversial due to asking why this or that was not in the poll etc. Without the poll, which I usually ignore, it ends up being a pretty cool burger discussion.

"yum"

For those of us that never have had an In-N-Out burger, could you define "icky sauce".

Sorry if it took a while to reply, but I do not like relish sauce. The "icky sauce" is a mixture of relish and mayonnaise, and I didn't know In-n-out had that before I had it for the first time in a long time (also first time in 2013). I can handle the onion and the tomato (because I can take them off if I don't want them), but I can't scrape off the sauce.

I'm also disappointed because the food got cold since the closest In-n-out is 3 hours away, and if you order them and take it home from a 3 hour distance, it will get cold and icky.

Because Dallas is 3 hours away from my home town. And mom didn't take me there.

The only burger place listed on the poll in my town is Whataburger. Carl's Jr and Five Guys is in the town south of us. I hope In-N-out expands to here.

Speaking of that, I had Whataburger on the day I was silenced from LBPC.

Well, there's a chain called BurgerFuel (http://www.burgerfuel.com/nz/menu)here in NZ. Their ingredients taste amazing.

You usually get aioli instead of tomato sauce (which is incredible in your mouth), their chips are thick cut (yet use half as much salt), and their meat patties bring a tear to my eye. Even their lettuce and cheese taste better, somehow. Oh, and they have an actual sense of humour too.

But a typical burger at BurgerFuel is about $10 in NZD, while a McDonald's cheeseburger is $2. When I was little, McDonald's cheeseburgers were like heaven in food form. I still like 'em (partly cause of the price), but I'd rather go for a CN Cheese or a Bacon Backfire at BurgerFuel anyday.

I've been on a bit of a health kick recently;
So I wouldn't eat at any of these places.... it's about as close to poison as food is legally allowed to be.

It's only when you stop eating junk food altogether that you realise how much junk you used to eat.

After saying that - 3 months ago I went to this place called "The Handmade Burger Co"... and oh Boy - best burger I have ever eaten in my life.
I think there's 3 or 4 of them in the UK - but any UK resident should seek these out... proper quality Burgers.
