Episode 34 - Post-apocalyptic

LBP heads to the classroom for this episode as we are joined by Imputed7-14 who talks to us about how he has implemented LBP into his curriculum. Our repeat guest this time is none other than the head of LBPC's Creator Spotlights, jwwphotos. As usual, we only talk about the most important things in life, such as holidays, nerds, and sandwiches.

;whoo finally!

Well worth the wait!

or I think you should rather say the holiday special. My dad once told a women and walmart "merry christmas" to which the lady looked both ways, leaned in and whispered quietly "merry christmas sir"

now what you need to do is have jwwphotos and biorouge on at the same time so you have Jon, Jon, Tom, and Tom

the world didn't end

was it a week? not sure

look what you missed

you had to bleep it to not create a fabric in the time-space continium

I was gonna say 43

oh man that IS a good one

I would say money but thats a dumb answer, besides, money doesnt make you happy

ooh vitas! take one for myself and start handing them out to the lbp community, all they need to do is buy lbpvita. or I could give them two and they could sell one at gamestop to make enough money to buy lbpv

cheese fries are good.

theres a phineas and ferb episode about this and the guy got un-thawed and went out to eat every sandwhich in town

littlesigplanet broke too? huh

im thinking the negativatron just logged into lbp.me

thats great

automatic turn-off lights after 100 seconds with a motion detector has to be a big one

oh THAT one ohhhh

im considering buying this just for the materials, I don't even have a vita

hmmmm... completely guessing here, but I'd say its a wormhole

I wanted to, I watched some of my friends play it with three but I didn't have my gameboy with me, the most ive played is just two with my brother

man I want a vita so bad

thatd be cool... just like rialrees' level at the game jam... hmmmm

I don't see them adding the memorizer ever to lbp2. Its just so suited for lbpv. Like you guys always say, angry birds is the way to go on lbpv (or no, NOT the way to go. don't make that level) and thats a huge app with tons of levels. I really feel like lbp vita is a client to make apps. for example stars unlocking levels and going back and the game remembering how many stars you got on one level in the level (levelception) and which ones you unlocked. Its made for app games, which you just can't pull off on lbp2.

real watorz

Ive only played with vitas that don't even have lbp vita and I still love it. But there is this little issue called monetization

thats a good assumption considering there are models of a vita that cost more than models of a ps3

I don't even have the app anymore, as I now own a android smartphone. I used to have it though. Can't wait for shadowriver's app and I already have fodawim's

oh thats funny

I had some of that on my salad the other day. It was awful. Don't ever do that. anyone.

I would've said the psp and ps3 community has always butted heads since day one.

Look at the karting game-jam. taffey called it out that teams were going to be big in the lbp karting community. Mod nation guys create the track, lbp guys decorate it. and there you go.

I need that too! actually I need money but yes. I need that too. I feel like im missing out and a terrible person

I did the same in the beta and there wasn't as many as there are I the full game I assume

thats why I usually don't play with random online people alot these days because everybody will just chill in the pod, slap each other and choose there costumes and sticker each other and wait 6 minutes while they type and I'm just like, "dude, I wanna play something!"

thats brilliant

lot of creating, hmmmmm

theres still a prize bubble in the sackbot redemption I don't have. Ive considered checking the wiki but I want to find this out by myself with no extra cheatering help

oh I thought you guys were still about that

Ding! you sent 30 texts!

ooh, need to get that

the demo in lbp2 i think had like 2

yeah are we done yet?

why? seems fun to me.

and the soundtrack to that video needs to be star wars kinect

I was under the impression they weren't going out to anyone at all because they were so public. huh. very nice, Im wearing mine now

I have a theory that San Diego Studios purposely took out the vest from there to satisfy the whiners

pancake wheels

its nice though. runs very smoothly

and that is a fun read let me tell. comedy gold in that post

much usefulness to my new level im working on

I like it very much

whoo!

yeah ive noticed the magic mouths thing with the cartoon bubble doesn't really do a good job at pointing to one person in a huge crowd. I love that you can name people though

well theres a song in lbp2 written by media molecule. didn't win a grammy but the song won some award. might have been a vga or something. the song is victoria's lab intmusic. somebody google it pleez

that trailer reminds me of gungnam. in fact when i started watching that i thought it was a gungnam movie. which wouldn't be terrible. But that movie does look terrible

segwayriffic.

believe it or not im snacking on some saltine crackers at this very moment

that is a good level

velvet audio is on there, hjdigitester i belive is on there.

I think its safe to say hes smarter than me at everything

thats the best thing ive ever heard on this podcast, no joke. I think everybody in the community need to just sit back, and remember that its a game. very nice.

I hope he doesnt mind, and in no way am I trying to be offensive, but weirdybeardy is my boss fight

its like stephen fry, I could listen to a conversation between stephen fry and weirdybeardy all day.

I don't follow him ooh

woohoo!

I REALLY love those levels

I feel like hyperdude is everywhere I go, I feel like he's involved in everything

I tried to participate in one of those once but it was too late to sign up

woo

man I wish that thread was locked though. Don't get me wrong, it's great to see everybody's replies, but it is very difficult to hunt and peck though what is a official mr. radical thing and just some speculation

Ive never heard that. tails never fails

mace wouldve been better

if its a christmas level than wouldn't it be christmas?

I think what they're trying to say is this is a good level, make it an mm pick, everbody else rate yay this on this review if you agree that it should be mm picked and the idea was that the level SHOULD be mm picked

excellent

who would call it butter?

christmasweardy. I like that very much

for a minute there i was worried that he took out the fart sound but then he just extended it.

i figured it was the vita game jam episode, thats when i started listening

i really like uncharted, im so glad 3 had online. I wish they supported it better though

yeah the first time i published a level i got 1 one play in a week and im like "oh that must be a bug, that'll fix and go back to the real number soon"

is there a my first level thread somewhere? cuz that's a great topic

aww

i also got littlebigplanet 2 day one. on a school day. and went to school. thank you, thank you. Yup, I had a extra source go out and buy it for me before they sold out while i was at school

I feel like more people need to realize while they should make levels. Its not to get 20,000 plays or buckets of hearts to get famous. its to have fun making something. most of the time when you hear a success story about someone who got a ton of hearts and plays, they say "oh, i just made something that I liked, I had know idea all these people were going to like it I just made it for me" so yeah just making something is fun. Wise old grandfather Mnniska once put it that if you put all your time and effort for a couple of months making something, nothing the community can do is good enough to repay it. Its all about making it for yourself and having fun with it. which is why i really like this story because its about taking something you love and doing it not to get famous but for yourself and in the process teach some fourth graders a thing or two

heh I could use 50 dollars

Is imputed in anyway involved with that level series that came out awhile ago that was made to teach kids math with that space series? you remember that?

this has to be one of the best community creations ever

yeah sure

yes it would, that would not be good.

and a Xbox would probably be cheaper than a ipad

sounds more like a bodyguard to me

I personally wasn't really a big gamer until littlebigplanet came out and I realized what you could do.

But if you get a job out of it then you wouldnt have the job that got you into it...

story of littebigplanet.

you better know what your doing because I don't.

he's only running a website, nothing to big

btw it won't let me join your blog

are these levels published anywhere?

wait I just had an idea: some schools want a ipad or a laptop for every student: a vita for every student and lbp vita

those kids are gonna be the next stevebigguns

can you make a level with a creatinator that makes a cloud of green gas called the fartinator?

well jww didnt you stop making levels before you got mm picked? so technically it doesnt count

there are a couple of these things in life called sleep, work, school that are just unimportant

yeah. I really wish more people would visit help threads, although lbpc is one of the first forums where that is really tackled head-on because nothing would be more annoying that not knowing what to do and taking time to make a post and then nobody replies. I always like to reply to those because it also makes yourself a better creator

someone needs to make a lbphelp twitter account where you can tweet it a question and then it can respond, and other people can search previous questions

what about tweeting about a help thread you made?

takes up more thermo though

and its good for you.

whoo!

yeah i would probably say if I was more involved back in lbp1 then I would say that but I just wasn't. I didn't even have forum accounts until lbp2 launch. So I guess lbp2.

the intro to lbp2 blew me away literally. I was like ohhhhhh

i was just about to say mnniska...

could not find shade seeker

awwwww

I don't understand...

this is actually a reference to drake and josh you artisically unchallenged people

that actually sounds really fun

who needs words

wow jww you must be able to type pretty darn fast then

at least they changed the curtains this time

I would say man in a child's body and then when I get to this part of my life where im answering this question, rinse and repeat.

itll be over quick though

what's a spit launcher?

over so soon?

or merry christmas!

if the world ends then it really wasn't a very happy new year was it

YES!

--------
Question timmme!
c'mon grab your friends

alright alright

1. What was your initial reaction to finding out you received a crown?
2. How amazing/unamazing would life be with no gravity on earth?

First off.. it was great being on the podcast again. Thanks for inviting me on! I just listened and that was pretty funny even though as usual we run on forever about everything... Thankfully to keep it from running to 3 hours, I noticed there was quite a bit of editing, and it was done nicely.

To reply to megaextremist.. Yeah, I guess my last level was quite awhile ago, but wow I hate hearing I quit.

After that level, I was working on Space Escape III concept bits for quite awhile before I got pretty busy with other stuff. To keep things in perspective, The Mm pick I got was almost a year to the day after that level was published. I still play around with stuff and think of some ideas for platforming and puzzles, scribbling notes in my sketchbook as well as working on some sets for an upcoming video. Now that I have the Vita, I have been thinking up some more ideas and playing with some concepts involving the touch screen. So I haven't really quit, I just haven't published anything for quite awhile. I'm still pretty active here! ..that should count for something!

Tweeting a help thread you made is a great idea!! Best of both worlds!

Yeah I actually do type pretty fast, but I was meaning my brain goes on with thoughts quite a bit faster than my mouth so I was agreeing with Taffey that it's like a bottleneck at times.

..and thanks so much for all your comments!!

First, doing this was so much fun. Amazing time and seriously, JWW, Tom's editing job was great. How long did we talk? A good, long while. But I enjoyed every second of it. True story, my wife listened to me ramble about it for a while and then responded by asking if it was nice to talk with adults for once? John, John, and Tom it was an honor.

Megaextremist, I really enjoyed reading your commentary. Thanks for listening AND being the first person to tell me the bit about the counters. That was all you. The Vita thought is a good idea. The touch screens and mobility would be really good, that may be the next area I try to pull into the group. It was also be cool to give the Workshop Kids (that might be our little groups name) the option to do mobile or even cross controller stuff. They are a creative bunch. I also have some neat ideas to involve the community, but I need to get one or two other plates spinning first. Again, thanks for taking the time.

Wow, sorry for being so late to replying to this. I don't have much of an excuse other than a busy schedule.

@megaextremist: I seriously think that LBPVita is the best version, and the Vita is incredible hardware, so if you ever get the chance then you should grab one

BTW, you caught me off-guard by posting on LBPC

It was a pleasure have jww and imputed on the podcast. I got a kick out of that comment about your wife asking if you enjoyed talking to adults
