Far Cry 3

Honestly this would be my game of the year for 2012. The open world is amazing, the characters are really memorable (well one especially particular), a good story (not going to blow your mind but it is really well done).
Here's a vid of a little web series that showed a little of Vaas, one of the villians in the game.

I feel they really underutilized Vaas. And from the trailers, I thought the insanity thing would be more prominent, but then it turns out it's not even an issue.

Anyway, great game. It really nails the sense of adventure an open-world game should have.

Yeah, that was my biggest disappointment too. I wanted more Vaas, way more interesting and intense then Hoyt. What's interesting behind the creation of Vaas is that he wasn't even planned when they first scripted the game but the person who now plays him audition actually for another villian (Hoyt or Buck would be my guess) and didn't get either of them since the audition didn't fit the part for either character but because they liked his audition they added Vaas into the script and game which is quite awesome.
As for insanity, well it is still kind of their I feel. I mean I didn't really notice the theme much after Vaas's death until (SPOILER) you find Riely alive in Hoyt's compound and have to beat him. How Jason really is kind of becoming like Vaas sightly. I don't know that's what I got from the story slightly.

EDIT:
Actually dug a bit deeper and he had been auditioning for a character called "Lupo" who served the same role as Vaas but wasn't as insane. But with how well his audition was they decided to scrape Lupo and created Vaas instead.

Dunno, I was expecting Jason to go on a descending spiral of insanity while everything around him turns to crap until he has to fight his inner madness. It's exactly what Spec Ops: The Line did. But it turns out the only "madness" we got to experience were a few LSD trips and Jason becoming a little bloodlusty for a short while. It kind of devalues Vaas' speech about insanity.

I guess they changed the direction of the game somewhat while it was in production. Ubi first introduced Jason as a survivalist, and then they decided to make him a clueless kid who's completely out of his element during the beginning of the game. Maybe they also decided to steer away from the whole insanity plot, but they just had to keep Vaas' number in because it had become the most recognizable thing of the game..

Yeah. When you look at this years E3 that showed part of the mission where you kill Vaas it was slightly different. When you have the choice to pull the trigger on Vaas, right when you push the button it looked like Vaas changed into Jason or one of his friends when the gun fired. Then you hear Vaas say- "You are me, and I am you."2013-01-05 20:10:00
