Does anyone knows how does your posted levels survive in the searching recent levels menu???

I was wondering if the levels just remain there for an amount of time after posted.... or if the level is high rated remains longer......!!!

i just can?t see the picture here... if i wan't someone to play my new levels i have to post them over and over............

I don't really know what you mean.
If a level has been recently published then it will be in recent levels in search, recently played levels is the ones you have recently played and if a level is higher rated or hearted then it wil be in the highest rated levels.
If you want your level to remain in the recently published levels then simply keep republishing over it with the same level. That is sort of cheating though.

yeah i know it's not etic. but........ i think that everyone allready post is levels more then once.... a little change here, another change there and you're level get noticed. I've re.publish my levels several times because i have the need to get them better and better!!

but i dont't think that you got the big picture..... the question is for how many time does a level remains in the recent search menu??? and if the level in the first 20 plays gets 5 stars??? does the level remain the same time if is less rated???

that?s my doubt........................

I think that every level (no matter how high or low the rating is) stays in the recenty published levels for the same amount of time.
It would probably be better though if higher rated levels remained in recently published levels for a longer time as now so many levels are being published, better levels aren't getting a chance.

The community page is having some strange rules. Nobody knows exactly what makes a level staying there longer or not. It looks totally random.

As for the search engine it's another subject entirely. It's only database queries you're making so it's always "accurate".

I suspect that a level will stay on the "recent" page until there are enough new levels to replace it. This could be anywhere from a few minutes to a few seconds though.

You could try publishing when things are quieter, like 10am US, but that could mean that less people are currently playing as well. It's a catch 22.

That's my theory, it's not based on any factual data but it makes sense in my head.

Personally, I use to re-publish my levels once or at most twice a day. Anything more and I just found it unethical.

Recently though my levels have been getting plays just by leaving them alone. It's certainly not in the hundreds per day category, but it's a few every now and then. That seems fine to me.

And something else to note, you don't actually have to change the level to republish it. Using the "move" option on an already published level will make it republished, and I suspect the search engine treats that just the same as if you had just put a 10 hour's worth major patch in.

It's not because it's waiting for new levels to pop because there are some levels that stays there for weeks.

I would really like MM to tell us what's the rule of the community page sorting. I mean, looking like it does right now, I wouldn't be surprised it's some MM employee changing things around from time to time.

The ones that are staying there may be continually reposted manually by the owner. If you go into the comments section of the level, you can see every time the author has republished it. If the gaps are very small, that explains why it's always there, if the theory that every time you repost it stays there till it gets replaced is true.2009-01-20 00:28:00
