A racetrack featuring a giant worm
Archive: 10 posts
To go along with my other racetracks in unusual settings, my next racetrack will take place in a desert valley, which features a giant worm. This track draws inspiration from Frank Herbert's Dune, the Tremors movies, and Gears of War. The track's starting grid will be in the desert valley. As you race through the valley, a loud roar is heard and an earth-shaking rumbling is felt. A giant sandworm bursts through a mountainside and swallows racers one by one. The rest of the track takes place inside the worm's anatomy, avoiding hazards such as gastric acid and things it has eaten. Hopefully I can manage my thermometer so that I can build everything needed for this track. I will post WIP pictures as I complete key setpieces. | 2013-01-01 18:42:00 Author: JudgeSpear Posts: 122 |
I actually made something like this you can check it out, its on my planet its just called WIP, I have the worms popping out of the ground, i just stopped working on that track because i was getting frustrated. lol | 2013-01-01 18:45:00 Author: Unknown User |
I can see how this would work...I'd love to see it finished! | 2013-01-01 19:08:00 Author: ConanUltimate Posts: 104 |
@s3v Your level has some excellent ideas! The breaching fire worms are my favorite. It's unfortunate you stopped working on it, as it does show a lot of potential to be a really fun tack to race on. First WIP picture! Here is the giant sandworm's head. It makes its sudden appearance when you are making a long jump into a mountainside. https://lbpk-production.s3.amazonaws.com/player_creations/269007/data.jpg The jump will take you straight into its body. I have already worked a low-tech way to transition from the desert area to the internal worm area. | 2013-01-01 19:31:00 Author: JudgeSpear Posts: 122 |

Good idea but wouldn't a giant worm on the race track creep the **** out of players? | 2013-01-02 03:03:00 Author: MSTER232 Posts: 247 |
That's the whole point. | 2013-01-02 05:55:00 Author: JudgeSpear Posts: 122 |

"Queer" in American slang has a bit of a derogatory meaning, just so you know. There should be more horror-themed LBPK tracks. I've seen just a few, such as h3|| Raiser (Scary) By lisa_2k6 (https://karting.lbp.me/v/12et) and Mount Hades (God of War) by FIaco (team picked). | 2013-01-04 02:02:00 Author: JudgeSpear Posts: 122 |
I think that is an epic idea! Maybe you could do an ELIMINATOR level (if you don't know how to make one go to TheAdipose eliminator tutorial) and you can put an emiter on the checkpoint/entrance thing emiting a sandworm that gobbles up the player. P.S. I would of thought you got inspired from a Lost Planet 2 level | 2013-01-04 15:42:00 Author: Ryanz19 Posts: 50 |
