Problems with your LittleBigPlanet save? Here's how you can help!

Archive: 28 posts

Senior Community Development Manager SamProtagonist has revealed how we all can get involved in helping Mm solve the saving issue in LittleBigPlanet. There is a myriad of issues, from profiles refusing to load to levels that do so as well. They are working to solve all of it, and they need your help! Click through for all the info.

-------------------------

SamProtagonist Says:
There are a few problems with some players' saved games out there, and we're working on the solution to this as quickly as possible.

While we're working on fixes, we've only had a few reports come in and fewer still save games with these problems for us to examine and work out what's going on, so we're asking for your assistance!

We'd like some more problem saved games to help us test our fixes, so if you have experienced these problems & you still have the save game please send your save data to savegames@mediamolecule.com (please do not use this address for anything other than sending saved games through).
The specific problems we are looking for are:

Profile won't load and the game quits to XMB with no message. Other profiles load and the affected profile can be loaded as another player, just not the main player.
You get a "Failed to load level" message on a level on your moon, even if you're offline.

News of when these fixes will be released will be announced very soon!

How to send your data to Mm:

Connect a removable memory device into your PS3; such as a USB Memory stick, External Hard Drive, PSP, Flash Memory Card
On the XMB go to the ?Game? menu and scroll to the ?Save Data? folder.
Enter the ?Save Data? folder and scroll to your LittleBigPlanet save file.
Press Triangle and select Copy.
Select to Copy your data to the memory device connected to your Playstation 3.
Once the copy has completed, back out to the top level of the XMB and remove the memory device connected to your Playstation 3.
Connect the memory device to your computer.
Compress (zip/rar) the PS3 folder that was created, and attach it to an email to savegames@mediamolecule.com.

-or-

Enter the folders PS3SAVEDATABCUS98148 and attach the 5 files in the last folder to an email to savegames@mediamolecule.com.

Yea I was really impressed. I'm pretty sure they are hard at work on all the bugs, if they actually set up an email address for us to send them our save files, that speaks volumes to me about how much they want to fix all these problems.

To anyone with a save file or failed to load level issue, make sure to mention which region your PS3 is from and describe the problem you encountered in the email you send along with the save file

I wish I could help, but my profile data is corrupted and I can't copy it. Weird, it loads just fine. [doesn't save anything or load a few of my levels, though]2009-01-21 06:49:00

My levels just became corrupted this weekend ;_; It doesn't save anything like objects to my Popit or changes to levels... but I don't have a storage device.

At least 1.08 is (hopefully) tomorrow.

I really haven't had that bad of problems. Just that it always says fail to upload level or when I'm trying to join someone. I did have a problem with it saving a level I was working on but it fixed somehow. Well can't wait till they fix it.2009-01-22 04:30:00

Thank god this thread exists XD

My file got corrupted today, with my level about 60% done after approximately 60 hours of work. I really hope MM can fix it. The funny thing is, I ahd to take a break of two weeks during my first level as well because my Ps3 broke down, and now it's my save file D:

Yeah mine to Serpit, I was almost at the end of Siberia pt.3 and I got the same message. I've just sent my file to MM hoping they can fix it.

Lets keep each other updated if we hear anything

I know i'm probably going to sound stupid but everytime i try to send my data to their e-mail adress an error comes up saying:
"The host 'sMTP' could not be found. Please verify that you have entered the server name correctly.
Subject 'Easy Pay Client Agreement', Account: 'Imap', Server: 'sMTP', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 11001, Error Number: 0x800CCC0D"
I don't know much about computers so I don't know what's wrong but i would greatly appreciate anyone telling me why i can't send the email

*Sigh* add me to the list of "failed to load" errors happening after hitting rewind. Bummer. E-mail sent .2009-03-03 07:06:00

i received the "failed to load level" message.

i had the day off.. spent about 12 hours (breaking only for food and restroom) on the level today.. i've been working on the level for a few weeks now... 6 hours here... 8 hours there... i have no idea the total amount put into it, but it has been a lot... im probably about 60% done with the level

naturally, it is my best work to date... very proud of it... strong narrative, atmosphere...

long story short....
while jumping back and forth between Edit and Play, i got "failed to load level"

after restarting the game, my PS3... attempting to copy the level... and anything else i could think of.. i just sat in silence for about 10 minutes...

i guess i will attempt to email my profile to MM...
i hope that works...
i feel very crushed....

i wish i would have attempted to back up my profile prior to this..

i am unhappy.

..

has media molecule been pretty good at responding to these situations?
anyone know what the likelihood is they will be able to fix it?

I sent mine 2 weeks ago .. and still no word. So I'm guessing they don't really care too much, they've made their money, right? I have barely touched LBP since, I'm that put off about it.2009-03-22 06:20:00

Ughhh! Just lost a great edit session to this thing. Sucks, I knew I should have published the level earlier today.2009-03-22 07:37:00

Sent my corrupted save about two weeks ago as well, along with a detailed bug report.

Haven't heard a word since, and I suspect I never will.

(They could at least set up an autoreply, perhaps something along the lines of: "Sorry, we'd rather our developers build shiny new bugs into the game than fix the old ones. Thank you for your understanding!" :s)

i agree... some sort of auto-reply or acknowledgment might be nice or at least a minimal effort to display respect to the consumer...
i have not yet sent mine in... but i still plan to.
and i havent really played the game again either (aside from occasionally checking the failed level again with my fingers crossed)...

part of me wants to start a completely new level in the meantime... but i am too nervous about a repeat occurrence and thus "not learning from my mistakes" or "taking the hint"..

maybe the next update will fix it..
i can dream
i doubt it
but i can dream

As some of you know,
I kinda gave up after 1.07, but since I just need to have my creative outbursts I booted up lbp, updated to 1.10 and was hoping everything was allright.

but no, still cant open my levels.
so, gonna upload my savegame.

but as it seems, nobody ever got a reply,
so.. Im kinda ssuming they do jack with it.

Maybe Ill just delete everything ive published/still on my moon, and start over.
but still, this bug started around december,
MM should be ashamed that they havent solved it,
even after 1.10 I cant do anything with my account.

So its been a while...
randomly, one of my new levels that i published (His Mind Game) became "failed to load" on my moon..
the online version was fine, though, so no real worries.....

however.. i suddenly felt motivated to check my earlier "failed to load" level (a remake of "Through the Cellar Floor"), just for the heck of it...
it failed at first...
then i tried again... and it worked ...i got into it.
i was in shock...
i think what may have locked it in the first place was deleting a photo that i used as a sticker..... so i tried to go to where that sticker was to try to remove it..... but this froze my PS3... so i reset the system and tried to get into the level again... after a few fails, i got in.... this time i went and just deleted the part that had the sticker on it....

and so now, here i am... so far so good
i even published the progress as a locked backup copy...

as for the new level that failed, i went to published version and just copied it over its spot on my moon....

and so now... (knock on wood) ..everything is up and running again

its weird how this all turned out...
i took the time of these last few months to make an entirely different level (His Mind Game) that I'm very proud of... and it wouldn't exist if i didnt experience this whole thing... it has also made me a lot more careful ... making backup copies and such...

so yeah..
im happy..
time to resume what i started a few months back

I bought Little Big Planet a couple of days ago and me and my girlfriend are enjoying the game a lot.
Today I noticed that LBP have problems saving our game session, so we have to start over. So basically, we can't continue story mode and we are stuck on the level just before that boss that toss' explosives...

Annoying... and I don't know what has caused the bug.
All I've done today on my PS3 is creating a profile for my girlfriend, copied my LBP data to her account so she could use all the unlocked costumes etc, played around with level creation and saved one map. Since so many seem to have problems with custom levels my hunch is telling me the bug is related to creating your own levels (and saving them).
Going to send that save file tomorrow morning, hopefully they will solve this issue soon (I've googled a lot about this bug and it seems it has been around for ages), so the future does not look very bright at the moment :/.

I'm sure someone will be along shortly to explain exactly what's going on, but I think it doesn't work well when you copy your save game file... could be wrong, though.2009-07-04 23:37:00
