Advanced shapes?

Archive: 20 posts

Does anyone know how to make advanced shapes? I don't think there's a Corner Editor so I have no idea how to do it! I'm trying to make a large, tall rock. But I don't know how to give it corners and make it look real. Help appreciated!2012-12-29 03:54:00

You could probably use other objects that have sharp corners to delete some of the corners on your rock to make it sharp.2012-12-29 04:07:00

Are you trying to tell me that UFG couldn't even be bothered to make a Corner Editor? Correct me if I'm wrong and there is a Corner Editor in the game (that is hard to find) but this just proves my point that create mode in LBPK seems a little half-***ed

Might post a suggestion for it if I can find the forum. 2013-01-02 01:39:00

Well if you want to post it as a suggestion then go ahead and do it. But I would also post suggestions for other tools we're missing from LBP2 .2013-01-02 02:06:00

I suppose it involves the game you're more used to, I mean, create mode on LBPK is absolute hell for those who've spent most of their gaming lives on LBP and LBP2, like myself.

^Actually i own lbp1 and 2...i have MNR too, but i dont play it as much..idk i just feel comfortable with level creating in this game...its individual objects's logic that I have a problem with...btw is there a way to create a tunnel with terrain?2013-01-02 22:49:00

No tunnel with terrain, I'm afraid. Have to use objects... Could work. The "Create Mode" in "SPORE, Galactic Adventures" is similar to this, and I've been using that quite a lot, so I might have a few tricks up my sleeve to make good looking tunnels! 2013-01-03 02:23:00

Agreed. It's because most of the little perks that are in LBP games where Mm had full control over development (LBP1 and 2) are not there in LBPK. You used to be able to copy an object or a piece of logic simply by selecting it and pressing L3. It was that simple. But now you have to select the object, press the square button as if to tweak it and then press the clone button. And the bad thing is that you can't clone certain pieces of logic. And this isn't the only perks that have been lost. We lost the ability to colour code logic, the ability to place notes on circuit boards or anything else to remind us what each piece of logic does etc. And when you're dealing with so many wires that the circuit board of logic you are trying to make looks like a million spider webs put together, you don't even have the option to hide some of them like in LBP2 .

I think I might have an idea on how to create a tunnel, but it would only work if the track underneath it was straight. And because there isn't a corner editor tool, it's difficult to make a tunnel that follows the curves of the track. Does anyone know any other ways in which you can make good tunnels despite not having a corner editor?

One thing you could do perhaps is use the sticker cutter tool and use it to get shapes you want... there are loads of stickers so one of them might have the right shape. Just delete the sticker on it afterwards.2013-01-04 12:41:00

You can make caves modulally. This will help working around corners. If you don't make the pieces too long. I did this in my Pod racing level. I'll try to post a picture if you think it will help.2013-01-19 15:03:00

Please do, it is confusing me on how you are supposed to create advanced shapes when there isn't even a corner editor in the game.2013-01-19 15:50:00

The absence of a corner edit tool is just one of several gobsmacking deficiencies in the create aspect of karting.

Yes, this will often work. It's definitely a good starting place. Some stickers don't cut out the way you'd expect, and sometimes the sticker cutter tool will actually change the size of the sticker.

Also, check my signature for a short tutorial on effectively saving your work in Karting. I've had intermittent but massive problems with system freezes when building with materials in particular, and found that it's important to frequently save copies of your work in progress.

If you're lucky the sticker would be approximately the same shape as the road but this probably wouldn't work most of the time.2013-01-20 18:49:00
